Betrayal At The Altar

Chapter 331
Hearing his words, Richard looked up and gave Louis a deep look.
Olivia and Louis were childhood sweethearts, and the couple often went out together.
It was true that he had watched Louis grow up.
However, the man in front of him was no longer the refined young man he used to be. After years of working in the business
world, the current Louis Smith was calm and unfathomable. Sometimes, it was even difficult for others to see through him.
While the two of them chatted, Olivia served Louis coffee and a gift basket with chocolate.
A smile finally appeared in Richard’s eyes. He picked up a cup and teased, “The efforts I’ve made to raise my daughter
painstakingly for more than 20 years are in vain. She only knows to side with outsiders. Look at my empty cup. She doesn’t even
notice that to refill it for me.”
Olivia looked embarrassed at his words. “Dad, what are you talking about?”
Louis’s eyes darkened as he looked at her shy and delicate posture.
“Don’t sit there and drink tea. Come and eat.” Bertha brought a pot of pumpkin soup and placed it on the dining table. She waved
to invite everyone to eat.
Even though everyone seemed to be enjoying this meal, in fact, they all had different thoughts.
Richard occasionally talked about the company’s operations, hinting at his desire to get a share of the profits.
However, now that the Smith Group had finally resumed normal operations, in order to make up for the previous losses, he had
already transferred several other projects he was responsible for, before finally being able to fill in gaps in the capital chain of
Smith Group.
If the Cruise family interfered at this time, his previous efforts would probably be disrupted.
When adults talked to each other, if they didn’t answer the question directly, that was already their answer. If they remained
silent, it would mean rejection. If they didn’t reply, that was also already their answer.

Richard lowered his gaze to hide the coldness in them and changed the topic without batting an eyelid. “As the saying goes, a
parent’s love for their children is far–reaching. Olivia is my only daughter. Naturally, I have to make better plans for her. Of
course, I watched you grow up, so I hope you can take good care of Olivia in the future.”
Louis was about to speak, but he was interrupted by Richard’s raise of a hand. “It’s not easy for the Smith family to get to where
it is today. This is also proof of your ability and skills. I don’t mean anything else. It’s just that I’m old and have to retire one day.
Therefore, everything in the Cruise family will eventually be handed over to the two of you sooner or later.”
“It’s Olivia’s birthday next month. I plan to officially hand the company over to her on that day, but she’s been in the entertainment
industry all these years and doesn’t know much about business. Uncle hopes that you can help her more.” “Dad!”
“Hubby!”
Olivia and her mother stared at Richard in surprise.
They had never heard Richard mention this decision before.
It was difficult for Olivia to remain calm in the face of this shocking news.
However, Louis was not thinking about this. Instead, he was carefully pondering over Richard’s true motive.
Richard had always been a person who would not take action without a clear target. At this moment, was he taking the initiative
to quit the company and hand it over to Olivia?
What exactly was he planning?
Just then, Richard continued, “You and Olivia will get married sooner or later. the Smith family and the Cruise family will
eventually become one family. Therefore, now that I’ve handed the company to you, I can let you familiarize yourselves with
each other’s businesses, right?”
When Louis heard his words, the doubts in his heart immediately dissipated.
It turned out that Richard had taken the initiative to give up the company in order to advance.
He hoped to use the Cruise family and the company to tie him down, so as to save the Cruise family!
Louis put down his cutlery and was just about to speak when his phone rang suddenly.

When he saw the caller ID, a dark glint flashed across his eyes. “Sorry, I have to take this call.”
