Chapter 147
“Are you sure? Jasper asked solemnly.
“Well, sir. I phoned Ada’s manager myself. She was the one who said Ms. Taylor had contacted them first. The manager actually
intends for us to compete for the opportunity... Xavier’s voice grew smaller as he continued, noticing how Jasper’s face was
growing more menacing by the second.
“What else did they say?”
“The manager also said that they know Berenike Hotel has always been famous and well–known, but KS World Hotel’s been in
the limelight lately, so they want us to prove to them why they should pick us for the wedding. Our plans need to win them over
before Ada even considers working with us.”
Jasper slammed the table, feeling unbearably irritated.
Alice White was already annoying enough to deal with. And now Alyssa Taylor was here trying to compete for their project? Were
these women specifically sent to torment him?
“Arrange a meeting with all department heads and directors tomorrow. We need to come up with a high–end wedding proposal to
present to Ada Kingsley,” Jasper ordered. “If we fail to secure this project and Alyssa Taylor wins it, then everyone involved in the
proposal will be dismissed!”
Xavier nodded and scheduled the meeting. It appeared his boss was exacting vengeance for having to climb up those ten flights
of stairs
last month!
After lunch, Jasper drove Liana over to meet the fashion designer she had mentioned earlier.
“I thought we were meeting the designer?” he asked, confused as to why they were in front of a lavishly decorated six–story
building. The Victorian–style gate caught his attention as it was stylized with elaborately carved roses.
“She’s right inside. This is the private design firm of the renowned designer, Rose Emerson!” Liana squealed.
She continued, “Although her clothing brand, Rozabela, has numerous branches in malls nationwide, they still can’t compare to
what she can create for us. That’s why we’re here today! She’s going to specially design our wedding outfits!”
Liana had gotten her hair done today just for this occasion, even dying it a light caramel color. She was dressed in a backless
red cocktail gown, and her lips were painted bright red.
All Jasper could think about when he saw the red on her was Alice White, as if only she could paint her lips that red. Anyone else
who tried to mimic her would only embarrass themselves.
“It’s just clothes,” he grunted. “I don’t need to get another set of clothes. We’ll just get yours done.”
“Aw, come on! I’m going to be your wife soon. I should get you nice clothes too. You mustn’t keep any clothes other women give
you from now on, okay?” Liana mewled, leaning against his shoulder.
Jasper’s heart dropped just the slightest as he recalled the suit Alice had made for him. He had tried his best to maintain it over
the years. even when it frayed and tore at the edges.
But clearly, Alice didn’t appreciate the gifts he gave her in the same manner. She hadn’t defended him at all when the bracelet
he’d made
for her had been tossed onto the ground, breaking apart.
He pursed his lips, saying quietly. “Okay.”
The two got out of the car and went up to the door. They were stopped by a man in a suit, who said, “My apologies, but Ms.
Emerson has a
private event today. Only invitees are allowed.”
“Look at what we have,” Liana said with a delighted grin, showing the man two Invitation cards with rose gold roses printed on
them.
“Then, this way, please,” the man nodded and showed them inside.
Several other guests were enjoying drinks and conversation in the event hall, all dressed finely.

Jasper hadn I expected Liana to bring him to such an occasion. She had kept it from nim the whole morning. No wonder she was
dressed like this.
He didn’t like how things were going. He never participated in any dinner parties or high tea events unless he had to meet with a
client. Right now, he fell like he was being taken advantage of by Liana.
Sure enough, his appearance shocked many of the guests.
“Isn’t that Jasper Beckett from Beckett Group?”
“It really is him! Damn, he’s even more handsome in person!”
“Who’s that woman with him? How lucky she must be!”
“What? Don’t you know who that is? That’s Liana Gardner, Mr. Beckett’s fiancée! She’s the one he divorced his ex–wife for.
Imagine that!”
“Oh, my God! Are you kidding me?”
Liana was high on all the gossip, feeling unbelievably proud of herself. To her, every woman here was envious of her because
she had successfully won over a man as fine as Jasper Beckett.
