On their way home, Alyssa grew drowsy as she rested her head on Jonah’s shoulder.
She had initially planned to ask Jonah what Liam had said to Jasper, but she quickly dismissed the
thought, knowing it likely wasn’t pleasant.
Liam might appear soft and kind, but he could be more sharp-tongued than she was.
She didn’t want to hear what Liam had said about Jasper, not because she felt sorry for Jasper. Rather,
she would be upset if her family disrespected the man she once loved with all her heart.
“Lyse, are you asleep?” Jonah suddenly whispered.
“No. What is it, Jonah?” she replied, her mind drifting.
“Can you sense it, too?”
She cast him a confounding look.
Jonah smiled. “Did you notice something between Sean and Taty? I could be mistaken, but I have a
feeling they might be flirting.”
Oh.
Wait.
Flirting?
She widened her eyes as she stared agape at him. “Jonah, did you have too much to drink? You’re joking,
right?”
“I don’t joke about matters of the heart. You probably didn’t notice earlier because you were high. When

Sean held Taty, they both blushed and seemed a little awkward. Taty’s expression was the same as how
you used to look at Jasper.”
Alyssa lowered her gaze speechlessly. She grumbled, “Why must you involve me in Taty’s affairs?”
Meanwhile, she secretly processed the relationship between Sean and Tatiana. She did not even realize
the chemistry between the two.
“Sean is all grown up. He’s going to turn 30 soon. After his college graduation, he served as my secretary.
Later, i sent him to work as your secretary, which he did not complain about. Year after year, he’s been
tirelessly dedicated to his work, hardly taking a break,” Jonah remarked, placing an arm around Alyssa’s
shoulder.

He added, “I hope you’ll support him if he decides to pursue someone else and start a life of his own.”
Frustrated, she punched the window and hissed through gritted teeth, “How could he do this without
telling me? He’s behaving exactly as he appears-a player!
“Men are truly the worst! He just confessed his love for me, and now, he’s pursuing Taty. Taty is my only sister. I’ll exile him if he
has any indecent thoughts about her.”
“Did Sean confess to you?” Jonah lifted a brow in shock.
“Yeah, but I turned him down,” Alyssa admitted. She had always been honest with Jonah. “He’s a good guy, but I don’t have
feelings for him. I don’t want to waste his time because I don’t plan to date after the
divorce.
“But how could he go after Taty right after he confessed to me? That seamless timing is quite suspicious. I’m worried Taty will get
the short end of the stick.”

“Lyse, Sean is not that type of person. Regarding the timing, I think he just didn’t realize his feelings for
Taty after being by your side for so long. You were his first love, after all, and he was used to showering
you with his care and affection,” Jonah opined in seriousness.
“Hmm? How could he not notice he’s falling for someone else?” she asked skeptically.
Jonah squinted his eyes with an amused expression and quipped, “Relationships aren’t always straightforward. Take Jasper
Beckett, for instance. He once again saved your life after 13 years.
“Do you love or hate him right now? Can you be certain that your feelings for him are only resentment,
with no trace of affection?”
Her heart twinged with pain, her breath catching.
Her thoughts went back to that eventful night when a severely injured Jasper carried her on his back for a long distance. She
remembered how he had given her most of his clothes to keep her warm in that damp
cave.
