Chapter 647

In the hall, Josh and Clarissa were having a lively conversation with Jonah.
Josh had not only taken over several substantial holding companies under Schmidt Group but was also expected to take over
the company one day. Jonah, on the other hand, being Winston’s eldest and all,
would likely take over KS Group one day as well.
Hence, Josh didn’t mind spending some time building a connection with Jonah, even though he held no
respect for the polyamorous relationship Winston Taylor had.
“I heard KS Group intends to develop in Solana City, Mr. Jonah. You’ve made quite some progress lately.”
Josh had on his winning smile.
“I’m sure we’ll be seeing one another in the business world soon. We’re on the same level, and our parents
are good friends. I do hope that friendship extends to our generation and beyond.”
Jonah smiled lightly and made a toast to him.
“If you
u ever have any big projects in Solana City, Mr. Jonah, you know where to find us. I’m sure if we worked together, we would be
an unstoppable force, not just in Solana City but even in the country itself,”
Josh said before taking a sip of his drink. His strong ambition was plain to see.
“You’re mostly correct. Nonetheless, I’m afraid that I won’t be in my position for long. I’ll soon be taking a
step back Jonah’s expression was calm as he drank his wine.
This made Josh and Clarissa share a look of confusion. “What do you mean?”
“As you all know, it wasn’t my intention to take over this position in the first place. I’m only doing this for my father’s sake and to
give my siblings a chance to fulfill their dreams and goals instead of being burdened by other responsibilities,” Jonah explained
He couldn’t help but smile fondly upon recalling Alyssa. “Now that Alyssa is back and enthusiastic about managing our family
business, I’ll be handing over the mantle to her once the time is right.”
Josh’s expression was an incredulous one. “Do you mean... that Mr. Taylor means to make Ms. Alyssa
the CEO of KS Group?”
“Yes.” Jonah nodded. It wasn’t some secret, after all. Alyssa was bound to take over the family business
one day. There was no one more suitable in their family.
“But she’s so young and inexperienced. Shouldn’t she be enjoying her youth? What about marriage and
having a family of her own?” Clarissa asked gently.
“Plus, I’m sure you have several other siblings, all competent and capable enough to take over the family
business. Should it really be passed on to Ms. Alyssa’s hands? Wouldn’t she be under such unnecessary
pressure?”
“I understand your concerns, Madam Clarissa, but Lyse is no ordinary woman, Marriage and raising
children don’t go with her principles at all. She might end up abandoning us once again, only returning
when I’m in my 70s,” Jonah joked.
“I would rather she stay by my side and be CEO than have her leave. We’ve doted on her since she was a
child. As long as she wants something, I’ll be sure to give it to her if she asks.”
Clarissa was touched by his statement
The Schmidt family was already chaotic, even though there were only four children, with three being born
to the same mother. Yet Winston’s family, with his three wives and countless children, were so selflessly
offering their family business without argument?
It was incredibly hard to believe!
Though Josh commended Jonah’s actions, he secretly scoffed at them.
Jonah really was foolish to be doting on his sister so blindly and giving his bright future up in the process.
He would surely live to regret it!
“Mr. Josh!” Just then, Josh’s secretary, Morgan Styles, hurried over. The moment Morgan saw Clarissa,
however, he swallowed his words back down.
“Please excuse me for a moment,” Josh said with a polite smile.
Jonah nodded. “Go ahead.”
The moment Josh left, Clarissa’s expression turned gloomy.
“What did you say?” Josh asked after hearing what Morgan had to say, and his brows furrowed.
“Ms. Caldwell is here, but she was barred outside the premises by the Taylor family’s bodyguards. She
insists on seeing you right now. Some of the guests have noticed her too!” Morgan reported in a hushed
tone. 1
“She isn’t fit to be present at such an event. Kick her out.”
