Chapter 72
Sophia put on an anxious act. She asked, "What happened to your hand, Liana? Tell me!"
"Yes, Liana, don't be afraid to tell us! We will never let anyone bully you!" Betty chimed, acting all fair and just.
"I ... I ran into Ms. White in the bathroom..."
In Jasper's arms, Liana was weak and gasping for breath. However, her gaze toward Alyssa was laced with hatred.
"I know Ms. White doesn't like me, so I took the initiative to say hello to her. I was hoping I could clear up any previous misgivings. But she didn't appreciate the gesture at all. And before I knew it, we were fighting."
Alyssa simply crossed her arms. She tilted her head and smiled. When Jasper realized she was smiling, he grew frustrated.
"When I was about to leave, she grabbed me and refused to let me go. In a moment of impatience, I jerked my hand away and tore off her bracelet. It fell to the ground and shattered. Ms. White was very angry because the bracelet was broken, no matter how much I apologized, it was useless, so she "
Liana stopped there, leaving the rest to everyone's imagination.
What a storyteller!
Alyssa smiled so much. She contemplated whether she should toss her some money for her performance.
"So, Ms. White cut you? How could-" Rosaline covered her mouth, looking shocked.
"How could you hurt my daughter!" she cried furiously, pointing at Alyssa. "Why are you so wicked! Fight with your words, not your hands!
"Liana is a pianist. These hands of hers have won her hundreds of national piano awards! Piano is her life! If she can no longer play the piano because of you, we won't let this go even if the Taylors back you up!"
Rosaline's words broke Alyssa's defenses. Suddenly, her throat felt constricted.
She gasped for air, thinking of her little finger that had been rendered useless because of Jasper. She could no longer produce beautiful melodies with the black and white keys on the piano.
They were glaring at her, waiting for her to explain herself. But who could she turn to for an explanation?
"Wait! No!" Seeing that Alyssa didn't counter the attacks, Landon became anxious. He hurriedly stepped forward to help her out.
"No matter how wronged Ms. Gardner feels, no matter how pitiful it sounds, it is a one-sided statement. We should listen to what Ms. White has to say. There are no surveillance cameras in the bathroom, but someone else was probably present. So we might as well ask them to figure out what happened."
When Betty saw Landon, she fell into a trance. Her mouth was slightly open as if her soul had left her body. Her intelligence and rationale decreased instantly.
Startled, Alyssa glanced at Landon. Her quick glance brought springs of joy to him.
Their secret eye contact didn't go unnoticed by Jaspe. He took it as proof of their flirting. Nonetheless, he didn't react. Instead, his hands balled into fists.
"There were no witnesses. We were the only ones in the bathroom at the time," Alyssa said casually.
"Ah, well." Landon frowned, finding it tough to deal with the mess in a fair, upright manner.
"Who else could it be? My daughter can't cut herself, can she? Liana has always been afraid of pain!" Rosaline yelled.
Although Liana was sobbing in Jasper's arms, she was secretly rejoicing.
"So, Alice, did you do it?" Jasper asked coldly.
Alyssa's heart fell. Her eyes began to water, and her nose began to run, but she balled her hands into fists. She did her best to suppress the injustice she felt.
Landon slapped his forehead. He was exasperated that Jasper had such a poor choice of words despite being the president of a company.
At the sight of Alyssa's bloodshot eyes, Jasper felt a sharp pain in his heart. He had been too harsh with his words.
He was an unfair person. However, the auction of the necklace humiliated him. Hence, he harbored ill feelings toward her, which caused him to put on a cold, mean demeanor.
Taking a deep breath, Alyssa grinned and answered, "I did it. So what? Do you want revenge?"
