Jasper's remarks left everyone stunned. They could not believe how straightforward and sharp-tongued he was.

Upon hearing what Jasper said, the business titans remained composed, managing their expressions well. However, their gazes toward Dominic carried a tinge of disdain.

They agreed that if Dominic wanted to discuss business, he should do it correctly. How could he suddenly extend an invitation?

Besides, why was he determined to involve his daughter, whom Jasper and Javier had never seen before? His intentions were clear as day.

Yet, Dominic did not expect Jasper to be such a straightforward and unforgiving person. He had just revealed his hidden agenda a little. However, the latter promptly intervened, putting an end to it.

Usually, Dominic was someone who hid his emotions behind a
smiling façade. But at that moment, he found it hard to maintain his composure.

His smile froze as he awkwardly said, "Hahaha! You're right, Mr. Beckett. My apologies for the abruptness.

"I should formally invite the both of you. It's just that tonight is a rare opportunity to meet Mr. Javier, and I got too excited. So—"

Jasper interrupted, "Since you're happy to see my father, you should invite him. After all, he's the chairman of Beckett Group. So, discussing it with him would be just as effective."

After saying that, he glanced at Dominic coldly before averting his gaze. Jasper continued in an icier tone, "I'm just curious. Is Mr. Taylor aware you're representing KS Group to talk business with us?"

Dominic was momentarily stunned. Then, he chuckled and responded, "Jonah has entrusted the project to me. He lets me undertake full responsibility.

"Of course, I prioritize working with powerful corporations. He'll be delighted to know that we can work with the Beckett Group. I'm sure he'll support us."

A cold, faint smile crept onto Jasper's face, his gaze piercing. "Would Mr. Taylor still be delighted and supportive if he finds out that you secretly contacted Ms. Alyssa's ex-husband to discuss a partnership?

The attendees were shocked upon learning that. On the other hand, Javier frowned and reprimanded, "Jasper, why are you bringing this up here?"

Dominic widened his eyes in disbelief. His mouth hung slightly agape. He had a hard time processing the information.

Ex-husband?

He had no idea that Jasper was Alyssa's ex-husband. When did they get married? When did they divorce?

At that moment, Dominic realized how tight-lipped the Taylor family was. It was as if they had taken a vow of silence.

"If we don't state certain things clearly, it's bound to cause unnecessary trouble," answered Jasper.

Then, he added coldly, "I won't discuss a partnership with anyone from KS Group other than Mr. Taylor and Ms. Alyssa.

"And I'll never meet any other woman behind her back, not even your daughter. I don't want Alyssa to get upset over unnecessary matters again."

Jasper's words stunned everyone. They thought what he said was no different from declaring his love publicly.

Javier cleared his throat and shot his son a look. "That's enough, Jasper. You don't have to be so explicit about everything."

"Haha! I genuinely didn't know about you and Lyse. I apologize for being impulsive," Dominic commented while laughing awkwardly.

"I never expect you to defend her even after you two are divorced. You truly are a loyal man, Mr. Jasper."

"Our marriage may have ended, but my affection for her did not."

As Jasper spoke, he thought of Alyssa's charming smile and radiant eyes. His gaze immediately softened as he declared, "I love Alyssa. Even though we're divorced, I'll win her back in the future."

Amidst the cocktail party's ongoing buzz, Dominic's ear resonated with a sudden ring, and a wave of embarrassment washed over his face. Excusing himself, he ventured into the corridor to answer Renee's call.

"Hello, Dad. Are you at the cocktail party already?" she asked.

Dominic snapped, "I've been here for a while. Where are you? Why haven't you shown up yet?" He still harbored resentment after his encounter with Jasper. Hence, Dominic was not in a good mood.

"It's an important occasion. Of course, I have to take my time to dress up before heading out."
