Chapter 1353
After planting a kiss on Kya’s forehead, Charlie turned and started walking away, with Mr. Sample and his crew bustling to catch
up
As soon as Charlie was out of sight, Linda blurted out, “Gina, who the heck is this Mr. James? Is he really Kya’s dad?”
Gina didn’t spill any beans. Instead, she took Emily by the arm and led her away
As soon as they left, the relatives immediately started chattering
“Emily’s husband is the CEO of the James Group? No way!”
“Emily’s so humble, she didn’t even drop a hint before.”
“She’s a top-notch student from a prestigious school. Of course, she’s modest. Not like some folks who’ve never seen the world,
always showing off “They even have a kid together. Looks like it’s a done deal!”
Linda looked like she had just eaten a sour grape. Kenny, standing next to her, also had a grim expression, “Is Emily really
marrying into a wealthy family?” The man called Mr. James. Could he be the heir of the James family?
Kenny found it hard to swallow.
Spinning her wheels, Linda said, “I smell a rat!”
“What do you mean?” Kenny immediately asked.
“According to the chatter, Mr. James is the CEO of the company where Elliott works. He’s here for the wedding. And Gina called
him Mr. James. They didn’t seem close at all. I bet he’s not Kya’s dad!” Linda was trying to connect the dots, hoping to prove that
the man was not Emily’s boyfriend.
Kenny thought Linda’s theory held water: “But why would Kya call him dad? A rich guy like him wouldn’t play daddy to someone
else’s kid, right?”
And the way the man held Kya, their interaction was super natural, just like a real father and daughter.
Linda was stumped too, a light flickering in her eyes. T’m going to grill Gina later!”

Meanwhile, Gina was pumping Emily for information, a mix of hope and uncertainty in her tone: “Emily, what did Mr. James
mean? Are you guys really together?”
“No!” Emily denied vehemently. “You saw how Linda Sullivan and the relatives were gossiping about Kya. Mr. James probably
overheard and came to back us up.”
“Oh, I see!” Gina felt let down again. She knew their ordinary family couldn’t climb the social ladder with the James family,
especially with Emily having Kya. But she also hoped that Charlie would really fall for Emily, so Emily could live a good life and
help Elliott in the future.
“But,” Gina muttered, “Mr. James is pretty nice to you.”
Otherwise, who would stick their neck out for a mere friend?
“We know what’s that for. Don’t brag about Mr. James in front of the relatives. If anyone asks, just brush it off and don’t say
more.” Emily instructed earnestly.
“Got it!” Gina nodded vigorously
Suddenly, a commotion broke out outside the hall. Gina’s face lit up. “Elliott and Bonnie are here!”
Emily nodded and sat with Kya in the guest area.
The newlyweds had arrived, and all the guests ceased their conversations and took their seats.
A host in a white shirt climbed to the stage, asking everyone to quiet down. He had a big smile on his face as he warmly
welcomed the guests. Then he asked everyone to give a round of applause as the groom made his entrance.
Elliott ascended the side stairs, dressed in a white suit with a red plaid tie. He was tall and handsome-a real head-turner.
