Chapter 1684
Estelle gazed into the red wine in her glass, swirling it gently. “Magdalen, do you know why I’ve always been reluctant to go
public with my relationship
with Jonathan?”
Magdalen nodded, “I know, you have many concerns.”
Estelle spoke softly, “On one hand, I feel it’s good to be with Jonathan just like this, staying low-key. After all, what we love is
each other, irrelevant to all other external factors. Once those things seep in, they’ll only disrupt our peaceful, enjoyable
companionship. On the other hand, Jonathan has long detached himself from his mercenary past, and he’s now the heir to the
Lamont Group, the CEO of the Lamont Group. But I’m different. I’ve never fully detached myself. I still have my brother, and...
Estelle paused, not saying what she meant, she continued, “I love Jonathan, but I don’t want these things on me to affect him. I
know he’s not afraid, even willing to bear responsibilities with me, but I don’t want that. I hope what I give him is pure.”
Magdalen furrowed her brows slightly, “I thought after being with Jonathan for so long, those things would have changed. Turns
out they haven’t!” She had always been like this, being kind to someone by shouldering all the burdens herself, even to the point
of risking her own life.
Back in the day, when Gabriel attempted to guarantee her a safe life, she could have completely disentangled from the situation
and chosen to return to normal. But for the sake of avenging Wolf and others, she went back to Tripe, sweeping away all
obstacles, established the Snow Hawk, and even signed those agreements.
Gabriel was so angry he almost hit her then, but he had to endure.
The same way, she had to endure, and so did Jonathan!
“Ms. Sampson!”
The chef brought over the grilled skewers, lobster, scallops, and more. “Enjoy your meal!”
Others on the garden patio, enticed by the smell of the grilled skewers and seafood, stopped eating their steaks and crowded
around.
The chef explained to them that this was a private order for Ms. Sampson,
Magdalén, ever generous, told the chef, “Prepare more. It’s on me, everyone have as much as you like!”
There was immediate cheer.
Estelle couldn’t help but laugh. “Coming here for a barbecue, you’ve indeed set a precedent for the 9th Mansion!”
Magdalen stripped the sticks. “As long as it’s enjoyable. It’s pretty much the saine going other places to eat. Good service is the
principle!”
She went to get some wine, complaining, “We should be drinking beer!”
She beckoned a waiter over, asking them to fetch some draft beer,
Only Magdalen would treat the 9th Mansion like a barbecue stand in all of J.City!
Magdalen reached into her pocket for her phone, but found something else. Het brows furrowed as she took it out and tossed it
on the table. Estelle lifted her gaze at the thing. It was a necklace inlaid with green diamonds. She raised her eyebrow slightly.
“What’s this?”
Magdalen said coolly, “I yanked it off Antonia’s neck earlier when slapping her face. I had my eye on this necklace at the
beginning, but I didn’t like the diamond color at the counter, so I had it custom made with green diamonds. Then it went missing
while being delivered. I thought I had thrown it away with the box by accident. Today I found out, Antonia had taken it.”
Estelle’s eyes dimmed slightly. “How could Antonia have taken it from your house?”
Magdalen took a big gulp of her beer, her expression cold. “Ask Morrison!”
Estelle spoke in a low voice. “What’s going on between Morrison and Antonia?”
With a confident look in her eyes, Magdalen said, “Antonia is just a gold digger Morrison wouldn’t pay much attention to her. He’s
seen plenty of women” Estelle’s eyes held a cold warning. “Beware of losing control on what you were assured of!”
Magdalen looked up. “If he is really that kind of man, he won’t be worth my attention in the first place!”
