Chapter 921
Yvonne’s reputation took a nosedive, inevitably costing her some endorsements and scaring off some big–shot directors who
previously wanted to work with her. Mr. Mayfield’s movie hadn’t even premiered yet, and in an effort to avoid any negative
impacts, he had been sniffing around for intel.
That night, at the Midnight Bar.
Carson and his people were playing cards, while Jonathan was shooting pool alone in a side room.
As he lined up his shot on the green ball, images of the blurry and chaotic figures he encountered at the rubber plantation
flashed across his mind.
Gab had long since left, and he hadn’t seen him. Maduro was interrogated by Jacob, but only revealed that Wolverine had paid
him to find Jonathan. Many of Wolverine’s men were dead, and those who survived were taken by Gab. By the time Jacob’s men
got to the woods, there were no living souls left to spill
the beans.
All other details, including the identities of the slaughtered, were locked down by Gab. He was completely in the dark!
But something didn’t feel right!
Charlie strolled in, leaning against the door frame. He looked at the pensive Jonathan and murmured, “What’s up? You’ve been
off since you got back from Kulha Mountain. What the hell did you do there?”
Jonathan pocketed his shot, his face expressionless, and didn’t respond.
Seeing that he wasn’t in the mood to talk, Charlie didn’t press him further. He simply said, “Yvonne’s mess got swept under the
rug. Magdalen sure knows how to play hardball. I bet she did it to get back for Estelle!”
“What’s it to her?” Jonathan asked, his gaze fixed on the balls. His voice casual, suggesting he no longer cared about Estelle.
“Magdalen and Estelle are buddies. She probably thought you dumped Estelle because of Yvonne, so she decided to get back at
Yvonne!” Charlie speculated. Jonathan continued his game, his shots precise and clean, but his movements gave away his inner
turmoil. Since coming back from Kulha Mountain, he hadn’t seen Estelle for several days. His days were filled with endless
meetings, often stretching late into the night, followed by sleep induced by sleeping pills.

He didn’t allow himself a moment’s respite, nor did he have the time to think about her, let alone inquire about her whereabouts.
When in pain, people tended to activate their defense mechanisms to forget the pain.
Unworthy pain would always end.
“There’s something else, about Estelle. Wanna hear it?” Charlie asked, his tone nonchalant, deliberately piquing someone’s
curiosity.
Jonathan shot him a glance, “Speak if you want to, leave if you don’t!”
Charlie wasn’t offended, he just laughed more freely, “I’ll speak if you want to hear it, otherwise I’ll leave!”
Jonathan straightened up and looked coldly at Charlie.
Charlie gave a slight smile, “Alright, no more beating around the bush! Remember Sammy who sent Carson that video from the
club?”
“Yeah, what about him?” Jonathan asked coolly.
“He has a project with Manley, so he went to Manley’s suburban estate to find him. Guess who he ran into at Manley’s place?”
“Who?” Jonathan asked.
“Estelle.” Charlie said.
Jonathan frowned, his gaze turning serious.
