Chapter 732
“Got it,” Thaddeus said, his voice as dark as the storm clouds gathering on the
horizon. He hung up the phone, with frustration etched across his handsome
features. “Glynnis has to choose now of all times to sneak off in the dead of night
to meet with Edith. Isn't that convincing enough that she’s involved in leaking
Marilla’s medical records? Isn't it clear they've been in cahoots all along?”
Jareth, with eyes flaming red as a fox’s, clenched his fists so tightly that his
knuckles turned white, and he slammed one of his fists down on the mattress
with enough force to almost tear it apart,
“Your sister has probably been in league with Gary from the start, and might've
even tipped off Barry behind the scenes. Otherwise, their plan wouldn't be
running so smoothly, so damn timely. I'm afraid they've been plotting this for
ages.
Jareth suddenly recalled the night when he went to deliver the engagement
invitations to Barry and bumped into Edith, who was there delivering some tea.
She was never that diligent before.
Looking back, it was a clear case of “no good deed goes unpunished—-either
treachery or theft!
“She's not my sister,” Jareth repeated, his eyes reddening with each iteration.
With each repetition, he tore Edith apart in his heart filled with loathing.
“But she’s the darling of your grandfather and your mother, the flesh and blood of
your father, and she’s written Into the Fairhaven family tree.” Thaddeus said,
pressing firmly on Jareth’s trembling shoulders. “And even if our deductions are
spot-on, without concrete evidence, every move you make could be used
against you by them. when they strike back.”
These were the words Evadne often told him.
And now, he passed them on to his best friend.
“Don't get complacent just because you're the CEO now. They've got plenty of
ways to take you down and to keep you out of Fairhaven business. Don’t hand
them the sword to do it. Revenge isn’t accomplished overnight. And what Edith
did this time has hit Barry right in the heart. If you go after her, you might just end
up burning yourself.”
As Thaddeus spoke, his eyes were icy and, his husky voice was filled with
resolve, “As for Glynnis, I'll handle
her.
“But Glynnis and Edith, what's the difference between them?”
Jareth grabbed his arm, his eyes blazing with urgency, “If you go after Glynnis,
Mr. Frederic will take it as an insult to the Abernathy name, and he'll use it as an
excuse to suppress you and to make things difficult for you!”
“Don’t worry, I have my ways.
Thaddeus smirked slightly, “I think my wife has even better ideas.”
When Thaddeus arrived back at Havenbrook, night had already fallen.
As soon as he walked through the door, Mr. Murray and Evadne came to greet
him, telling him that Marilla had woken up.
1s Marilla okay?” Thaddeus asked, wrapping his arm around her with deep
concern.
Evadne sighed and shook her head while gently rubbing his cold hands, “Not so
good. Grandpa stayed with her for a while, but he went back to his room to rest
“cause he wasn’t feeling well. Now Lily is with her. How about. Jareth? Is he
okay?”
“I took him to the hospital; he came down with a high fever from the cold.
Thankfully, he’s strong and he’s

holding up.”
Evadne had her eyelashes drooped, a shadow of sorrow passing over her face.
Both the two men were stubbornly passionate.
“Evadne, come with me.” Thaddeus said, gripping her soft hand with a heavy
look in his eyes, “There's something we need to discuss.”
In the room.
Marilla clung to Lily, her tears soaking through the fabric of Lily's black suit.
“My lady, look at me, I'm just fine. Nothing happened,” Lily said while holding the
girl tightly; she tried to keep her voice light even as her eyes shimmered with
unshed tears. “Those people just wanted to scare you, that’s all. It's over now
And it won't happen again. From now on, only good days await you and the
young master.”
“Will there be a “from now on for me and Jareth? Marilla suddenly asked, her
voice hauntingly soft.
Lily's heart clenched, and she quickly reassured, “My lady, please don’t worry.
This trouble isn’t insurmountable. Mr. Fairhaven, Mr. Thaddeus, and Ms. Evadne
will handle everything. Everything will be fine soon!”
“Lily, 'm not naive. I know why all of this happened, because the Fairhaven
family doesn’t want Jareth and me to be together.”

“My lady. I beg you, don’t give up on the young master, please. Lily pleaded,
feeling her words so clumsy that she became brimmed with tears.
Perhaps Marilla had always known the stance of the Fairhaven family, and had
always known how hard Jareth fought to protect her from the storm. Today’s
crisis was just the final straw.
“I know everything Jareth has ever done for me,” she said, her voice barely
above a whisper. “If he keeps this up. he’s going to lose himself.”
Marilla slowly closed her tired, burning eyes.
Her mind wandered back to her grandfather's birthday bash, and to the moonlit
garden where she and Jareth. had slipped away for a moment of privacy
Back then, Jareth’s eyes had sparkled with an intensity that outshone the myriad
stars above.
But those once brilliant orbs as dazzling as a phoenix’s gaze seemed to have
gathered an invisible layer of dust over time, and they were gradually shrouded
with an unshakable melancholy.
As he was immersed in the warmth of those memories, a soft smile found its way
across her face, even though bitter tears welled up in the corners of her eyes.
“I just want Jareth to find his way back to whom he used to be. I want him to
move forward boldly, without any reservations.”
