Ryan Collins POV
It had been a few days since our Christmas dinner, and Carina had been going back and forth from home to the hospital all day.
Since she was so busy, I planned something special for her. I was definitely not good at all these romantic things, but I tried my best.
I heard the door open, and Carina trudged in, a layer of snow over her coat. She slumped on the couch, sighing loudly.
“Mom insists that I spend the day with someone else. My stupid brother actually agreed.”
I walked to her, and excitedly held out my hand.
“What? ” She grumbled, looking at my hand but not taking it. Her just dyed lilac hair was half wet because of the snow.
“Come on, we’re going somewhere.” I commanded, taking her cold , gloved hands in my relatively warm ones.
“No! I’m not going out!” She whimpered, wrapping herself in a blanket.
I sighed at her childish behaviour.
” Carina.” I said, trying to sound stern. She stuck her tongue out at me.
“I’m sitting here and watching the news.” She stated, crossing her arms.
“Carina, it’s new years eve. No countdown?” I asked, pleading.
“The news gives a ten second countdown.” She replied, wrapping herself in a little cocoon.
“No! Let’s go!” I said, frustrated now.
“No!” She whined like a kid. I angrily picked her up, blanket and all, striding out.
“Let me go! I’ll never talk to you ever again!” Carina said, grumpily.
“Let’s see.” I muttered, throwing her into my SUV.
“Where are we going!?” She asked, untangling herself from the blanket.
“You’ll see.” I shot her a glare, and put her seatbelt on for her. This pig.
She removed her thick black coat, and revealed the black dress she wore underneath.
“Stop drooling, you pervert.” She looked out of the window, even though it was foggy and dark outside.
“I’m admiring my girlfriend’s body.” I mumbled, focusing on the road.
“Pervert.”
“Bitch.” I muttered back.
“Manwhore.” She said through a yawn.
“Shut it.We’re almost there.” I drove the car slowly into the small parking space.
“Let’s go.” I said, and realized Carina was already asleep beside me.
“You pig! Really!” I sighed and walked to her side, picking her up carefully.
“Fish?” She mumbled under her breath.I shook my head, and took her inside the building, climbing up the stairs.
“Mr Collins, everything is arranged for you.” A reedy, thin man said, gesturing to a rusty door.
I pushed to door open, placing Carina on one of the mats laid out on the roof. She woke up with a start, wiping the drool of the corner of her mouth.
“Where the heck am I?” She asked, looking around in confusion.
“We’re watching fireworks.” I said, laying down next to her and putting my arm below her head.
“Its cold. Are you mad for taking us to a terrace? ” Carina complained, furrowing her eyebrows.
“I like you better when you don’t talk.” I joked, still staring at the sky.
“You love my dirty mouth, liar.” She tickled me, which made me laugh hard.
“Stop, stop!” I was breathing hard while I checked my phone.
“Three.”
“Two.”
“Una!!”
Carina shouted as the fireworks exploded.
