Carina Russo POV
I tapped my foot on the wooden floor, waiting for Ryan to come out. He was driving me to University since he was a special guest and would be giving a speech.
“I’m done.” He said, and I turned to look at him. He was wearing a fitted suit with a tie clip and silver cuff links.Thank goodness he remembered.
“Let’s go.” I cleared my throat and put my high heels on. This would go amazing. It would be amazing -I convinced myself. I had a feeling it wouldn’t though.
“You look good, Russo. Don’t be too nervous.” Ryan rubbed my exposed neck.
“I’m not nervous.” I said, striding out, hoping what I said was true.
The drive to University was quiet, and I felt small beads of sweat trickling down my neck. Something bad was going to happen.
“I’ll meet you later.” I got off the car without looking at Ryan.I heard him say something but I was already half running to the doors.
“Carina!” Sara hugged me, wearing the same black robes as me, holding her cap.
“Hey.” I said, my voice cracking a bit. What the hell had gotten into me? I walked to my professor.
“DeLuca,White go sit alphabetically. You’re ready with your speech right?” I was the valedictorian, of course I did. I nodded.
“Are you not feeling well? You look pale.”
” I’m fine.” I snapped, rushing to my seat, sitting beside a guy from my finance class.
“Hey.” He smiled politely. I smiled back, but didn’t say anything.
Everything went past in a blur. I saw my parents and brothers wave to me, Ryan grinning at me, Prof C. called Ryan to the stage to speak.
“Carina Deluca, our beloved valedictorian! Come on!” People cheered loudly, their voices deafening.
“Good morning everyone…” My speech went great, everybody cheering after every sentence.
“I’ll miss you guys!” I shouted into the mike, smiling when everyone roared excitedly. I got off the stage, forgetting about my bad mood.
All my classmates cheered and clapped my back as I walked back to my seat.
“You did great!” Sara shouted from behind, making everyone laugh.
“Miss White! ” Prof Blake reprimanded Sara.
“Sorry Miss.” Sara giggled, and I rolled my eyes.
Our headmaster started calling out the names alphabetically, and I anxiously drummed my fingers against the chair, counting down to my turn. I saw Ryan smiling while handing everyone their diplomas, the girls blushing.
Four… three… two… one… my turn.
“Carina DeLuca.” I walked with fake confidence to the stage taking the diploma and gripping Ryan’s hand.
“Miss Russo, congratulations.” He gave me a secretive smirk. I smirked right back.
“Thank you Mr Collins.”
“I’ll meet you at the party later.” He whispered into my ear.
I nodded, then walked off the stage, heading to Andrew and Marco who stood with two blushing girls.
“Where are Mom and Dad?” I asked looking around.
“Mom said she forgot something at home. They’ll join us later.” Marco said, winking at the girl, who clung on to him even harder.
