Four years later
Ryan Collins POV
I walked down the streets of the resplendent city in a black suit and a long overcoat. It was coincidentally one of the weeks in which Milan was covered in snow.
I wondered if I would see Carina. We had been talking a bit since she left, but gradually lost touch. My intense feelings for her never died down, of course.
As much as my parents had nagged me to get married to some classy girl from LA, I wanted Carina.
I entered the glass building which was the acting headquarters of Collins Media in Italy.
“Good afternoon sir. We’ve arranged for a car to take you to your hotel. Do you want to leave now?” A bespectacled man said, his blond hair slightly damp.
“Of course.” I smiled, following him to a shining car waiting for me.
“After you sir.” My secretary said, opening the door for me.
“Take the rest of the day off Mike.” I commanded, closing the door behind me.
Soon we were speeding down the picturesque lanes of the city to the VIU hotel.
“Sir please.” The chauffeur respectfully said, opening the door.
I walked into the huge hotel bemused.
“Sir, this way please, Mr Collins.” A well groomed lady greeted me.
” Would you like to eat first or go directly to your room? You must be tired.” She smiled politely.
” I’ll eat.” I replied shortly, following her to a magnificent dining hall where five other couples were eating.
“Please, sit. Someone will come to serve you.” The lady said, turning on her heel and walking away.
“Well if it isn’t Mr Collins.” A familiar voice came from behind me, making my heart jump to my throat. I turned, this very moment one that I had been envisioning since she left.
Those familiar cyan eyes, the now black hair, mocking lips, upturned nose, a red figure hugging suit, pants hugging the long legs.
“Miss Russo.” I breathed out staring at the woman infront of me.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you again.” She crisply said, holding out her hand to shake mine.
“It’s been too long.” I whispered, making her lips curve imperceptibly.
“May I dine with you?” She asked, looking pointedly at the empty chair.
“Please.” I said automatically, letting go of her hand, noticing the ring on her finger.
“You wore it?” I was surprised to see it. I had slipped it into her coat pocket when she was leaving four years ago.
“Of course I did.” She said, almost chiding me.
” Of course you did.” I smiled, and watched her adjust her suit. Her creamy shirt dipped down to show her cleavage, and a simple platinum chain with a circle at its end.
Carina laughed softly, leaning her hand on her face.
“Is something funny, Miss Russo?” I asked, watching her little scrunched nose and haughty eyebrows.
“Did you…” She paused, a hint of desperation in her tone.
“… Miss me?” She asked.
I leaned across the table, stroking her silky hair that I missed, the full lips coated in red lipstick.
“I missed you so much.”
