Carina Russo POV
I amusedly watched Ryan cowering in front of my parents. They were chewing him out, mostly in rapid italian.
“I didn’t expect you to get together again.” Nico’s voice whispered in my ear. He held Esmeralda, his daughter in his arms.
“Si, now he owes me 100 euros.” Andrews voice came from my other side.
“Your fault Adolfi.” I smirked, taking Esme from him.
“Indeed.” He sighed, kissing Sara as she came closer. They had been married for two years now.
“Cari.” She smiled stiffly, looking at Esme who was clutching my fingers.
Andrew flung his arm around me,as I passed Esme to her mother.
“So sister, father was about to decide who gets the company.”
“Its just you and me DeLuca.” I secretively smiled into my champagne.
” I’m there too!” Marco protested, hugging me from behind.
“You’re stupid. Dad’s not going to give a billion dollar company to a dumbass.” I blandly replied, not taking my eyes away from Ryan.
“You’re my least favorite sister.” Marco grumbled, following my gaze.
“I am your only sister, genius.”
“Sei stupido! Eri ubriaco!? Sul serio?” (You’re stupid! You were drunk!? Seriously?)
Moms shrill voice rang out, making everyone quiet.
Andrew giggled, then covered his mouth.
“Poor guy. He’s never getting in their good books.” He said, resting his head on my shoulder.
“He will. I’ll make sure of it.” I mumbled. Ryan glanced at me, then fell to his knees.
“Carina is the only one I love. She’s the only one for me. I don’t make any excuses for what I did that year, and I’m grateful that it didn’t get grave-r.”
I looked away, my cheeks flushing, and everyone stared at me.
“Carina’s blushing!” Marco catcalled, cackling.
“Marco!” I ran after him, weaving through the furniture.
“When I catch you, you’ll regret it!” I shouted, grabbing at his shirt.
We both squealed as we fell hard, the edge of the table scratching my arm.
“Ryan!” I hissed in pain, as blood trickled down my arm. Ryan ran to me, kissing my forehead.
“It’ll be fine, it’ll be fine.” He said, his eyes anxiously looking around. Mom pushed him away and started cleaning my arm with a cotton swab.
“Mother!” I whined, the antiseptic stinging.
“Shut up. And you! Both of you won’t have dessert today.” Mom said.
“No!” Marco fell to her feet, exageratedly clutching her legs.
“I need desert, mom!” He cried.
“Fine, but only one piece.” Mom sighed patting his head. Marco tilted his head and winked at me.
Suck up.
“Ow.” I grumbled as Mom wrapped the wound. She was used to us fooling around.
“You’re okay?” Ryan asked, smiling at me.
“Si. Of course she is.” Mom said, rolling her eyes.
“I’ve not forgotten about you. My daughter is the most precious thing in my life. Yes, you too Marco! You… “
We all held our breaths. The moment of truth, if I could marry Ryan or not.
“Can marry my daughter.”
“Yes! Another hundred euros for me!” Andrew shouted.
“Andrew!”
” Sorry.”
