Carina Russo POV
I stared at the feast of a man before me, greedily drinking his sculpted tanned body in.I covered my nose, just in case I had a nosebleed.
“Miss Russo.” He had a curious expression on his face, before he put a blank mask on. I sighed and waved, a bit tipsy.
“Mr Collins. Good day.. wait is it night already? ” I giggled, drinking more tequila.
That asshole boss of mine looked amused.
“Miss Russo do you need help?” I raised an eyebrow.
“I might be stupid, but I’m not drunk!” I fumbled on my words. Mr Collins covered his mouth, obviously trying not to laugh. I glared at him. “Don’t laugh at me, asshole!” I stuck my tongue out at him, and tried to look as cool as possible while walking back in.
I heard his gravelly chuckle from outside, as I quickly fell asleep on the soft bed.
I woke next morning with the phone ringing like crazy.
“Fu*k you! What the hell are you calling at this time for!? ” I yelled into the phone.
” Miss DeLuca? This is the hospital calling.Your mother has been hospitalized and is in surgery now. Please come here quickly.” I jumped up quickly.
” I’m coming. Just wait!” I pulled on a sweatshirt and pants over my underwear and ran out with my car keys. I almost bumped into Mr Collins.
“Miss Russo, if you…” I pushed past him and ran to my car, barely holding back my tears.
I called my friend, Darrel.
“I’m taking half day off, my mothers in the hospital.” I hung up before he could say anything and quickly drove to the hospital.
My head ached like hell as I zoomed past happy tourists to Grace hospital.
“I’m here to see Mrs DeLuca? I’m her daughter!” I showed my ID to the nurse.
” Oh yes Miss please come. She has some time left until the surgery is over.” I sighed and paced in the room I was led to.
“What’s wrong with her?” My voice as anxious and worried. The nurse looked at me questioningly.
“Miss Russo, she has ovarian cancer. She didn’t want to treat it, though she didn’t tell us why? ” I blanched. Cancer?
” I… okay. Just please ,please hurry up.” I begged.
After an hour, which felt like a century to me, the nurse escorted me to a room.
“Mama!” I cried and flung myself at the pretty woman on the bed. I sobbed into her blue hospital pajamas.
“How could you not tell me a.. about the c.. cancer!? ” I sobbed even more.
” You’re such a busy girl my dear. And you’re earning for yourself. I can’t disturb you like this honey.” I dried my tears on my hoodie.
” Mama, What the heck!? Perché pensi che !?” I carefully put the blanket on her.
” I’ve called stepfather to keep you company, and my brother will take me to work. I’ll visit tommorow morning okay?” I kissed her cheeks repeatedly.
“And I’ll arrange a meeting with an oncologist tommorow okay mama? Don’t even try to wiggle out of it.” I glared at her when she tried to argue.
” Sorry that I can’t stay long, but you know my boss.” I looked down shamefaced.
” Don’t worry honey, go now. “
