- Chapter 111 - She Didn't Want to Tell Him About Her Pregnancy
Reyna was quite unprepared for the unexpected child. In her mind, a child could only be loved under the condition that it was carried by a woman very much beloved by her man. But it was not the case for her and Leroy…
There’s no love between them. A guy like Leroy wouldn’t get married easily, and she wouldn’t marry him either. So it was irresponsible to force a child out in an unpleasant situation.
Leroy once promised that he would let her go after she gave birth to a child belonging to him, which she did believe before yesterday night. But now, she knew he had changed his mind.
There was no way that he would set her free.
Alone, Reyna sat there in the hospital corridor, one hand holding the pregnancy verification document, the other hand stroking her belly unconsciously.
“Hi, little guy. Mommy has to say goodbye. Please forgive me!” she murmured.
Just then, the door of the operating room was opened. A woman walked out, pale-faced. Her company, another woman, rushed over to help support her. “Are you okay? Why didn’t Hank come with you? He knew you were going to have an abortion today, right?” The words were full of dissatisfaction towards the man named Hank.
The pale woman forced a smile. “He … will be busy today, so he implored me to come here myself.”
“Scumbag! How could he be so careless about his pregnant lover. He didn’t even plan to be your escort for the abortion surgery. Lilia, the heartless coward isn’t worth your love at all…” Lilia’s friend stopped her complaining after she saw Lilia’s even paler face. “Lilia, I’m sorry. I just feel unfair for you.”
“It doesn’t matter. Let’s leave here.” Lilia said weakly. With a blue face, she uttered no words from then on, probably because of the body operation she had just endured.
A nurse followed the two women. “Reyna, who’s Number 43, Ms. Herring?”
On hearing this, Reyna jerked up from her chair. “I am Herring.”
The nurse looked at her, a little surprised. “You look very young. How old are you?”
“Twenty-three.”
“You come here alone?”
“Ye … s. I can make it myself.”
“Although the abortion operation isn’t so complex, there still may be danger involved. And the child matter concerns both you and your partner. It’s not a wise decision to come here alone.”
Then it came to the nurse that Reyna might have encountered a love rat. “The form, please. You could enter the room first.”
Then Reyna handed the form over and walked into the operation room.
“This way. Please lie down.” A doctor inside instructed.
Reyna stepped over, feeling her body stiff and awkward.
It was her first time. Of course, there was fear and nervousness in her heart.
Things worsened when the scream by a nearby woman was heard.
Reyna secretly glanced in that direction, then her body began to tremble.
Her surgeon noticed all this, and comforted her, “Don’t worry, miss. The vacuum aspiration involves the use of pain relief medications. You will be put into sleep. Relax.”
After Reyna lay down, she felt the coldness from the bed was penetrating through her thin clothes into her limbs, and finally into her brain. Now her brain was almost frozen.
As she was lying there stiffly, the noise from the nearby woman was fading. Out of curiosity, she throw her glances over there and caught another surgeon was tossing a bloody tissue into a plate.
Reyna was frightened. “What … what is that?”
That surgeon looked over. “Fetus, yours will be like this too. It’s a young form, quite small.”
‘Fetus?
A young-form life that doesn’t even have a chance of growing up…
Neither would it has a chance of seeing the world before it was killed brutally.’
Tortured by her mind, Reyna turned her head back quickly. Her surgeon was ready and asked her to open her legs.
He was about to give her anesthetic.
Before her eyes, the surgical tool was sharp and chill; in her mind, the bloody scene replayed itself. The taut string in her heart finally broke, and she jerked up to push the coming injection needle away.
“Miss, what’s wrong?”
“I … I change my mind. Sorry, I quit the operation.” In a panic, she got off the bed and stumbled out of the operation room.
During the process, she heard a nurse from another abortion room was yelling, “It’s too bad. Patient 3 is having heavy bleeding! Stop the bleeding first!”
Reyna’s panic got worse, and her steps became so unsteady that she had to move alongside the wall to close a chair. It took quite a long time before she reclaimed her calmness.
Then she left the hospital.
It had been four weeks. Sometimes she could feel that her belly was swelling, though not to the extent of visual sense. It should be growing here.
A young-form life was also a life. Even a mother couldn’t deprive it of a living right.
At last, she decided to let it be and made no further plans.
Reyna collected herself before she set for home.
Never did she thought of telling Leroy about her pregnancy. If he knew this, her chance of leaving him would be more slighter.
Therefore, she had to manage to get Leroy’s permission to leave before her belly was too big.
After making sure to keep the child, Reyna looked up on the Internet for healthy diet recommendations for pregnant women. She should try to stay as healthy as possible.
At present, the child was only four weeks, which didn’t affect her work. But it was a period with a high frequency of vomiting. So she decided to try her best in reducing her time with Leroy, in order to low the chance of any suspicion from him.
“Reyna, are you on a diet? You have a light diet these days.” Krista noticed the changes in Reyna’s choice of food.
Reyna smiled, “Not really. I just have some problems with my stomach. So it’s better to eat healthily.”
Krista trusted her and asked no more.
Because of the morning sickness, Reyna didn’t have a good appetite. But considering the child inside her, she tried to eat as much as possible.
This day, she should have left the company on time if Viola hadn’t sent for her.
Viola threw a document before her. “Reyna, the client is not satisfied with your designs. Finish a new version today. And the materials in it were too expensive, you need to budget the client’s payment.”
Reyna skimmed over the document. The client was indeed in pursuit of perfection, and he had emailed her about his expectation.
“Alright. I’ll modify it.”
“Wait!”
Reyna turned to look at Viola. “Ms. Viola, anything else?”
“You asked for more than a month off. What did you do?”
Reyna was surprised to hear the question. “Ms. Viola, it is private. I don’t have to tell you.”
“Have you been in the Imperial Garden for more than a month?” She stared at her coldly, her tone unfriendly and shameless.
“Yes. Leroy must have told you about it, right?” Reyna replied indifferently, “But why do you ask me after you know it?”
