- Chapter 121 - I Will Cry One Last Time
Leroy noticed that Reyna was in a bad mood so he said, “You look better. Please don’t cry.”
Then he pulled her hands and said, “Let’s go and get changed. It is time to go to work.”
“Leave me alone!” Reyna shook off Leroy’s hand and pushed him away. Leroy nearly tripped.
Leroy was a little pissed off.
He looked at Reyna coldly.
“Reyna, what’s wrong with you?” Leroy said. He didn’t like Reyna treating him like this.
Reyna didn’t speak and she wiped her tears. She stood up and ignored Leroy, walking upstairs like a zombie. Her eyes were flat and dead.
Leroy didn’t know how to comfort her.
He went on a business trip for a week. After he came back, the first thing he did was to check Reyna in her room. When he saw her lying on the bed, he was relieved because he had been worrying about her.
Leroy trusted Reyna and she didn’t disappoint him because she didn’t leave.
He was overjoyed so he wanted to send a gift to her.
However, Reyna’s attitude towards him didn’t change after he left for a week for his business trip.
She still didn’t like his touch.
This was the first time for Leroy to feel helpless.
Reyna walked upstairs quietly without crying or yelling.
She was suppressing her feelings.
She glanced at the room and began to tidy it up.
She wanted to keep herself busy and exhaust herself. When she was tired, she could go to sleep. Sleep was the best way to clear her head.
Reyna could leave these problems behind when she was asleep.
She wanted to forget everything that troubled her.
She packed up all of her things, including the things on the coffee table, the things on the dressing table. She made up her bed meticulously.
The furniture had been wiped clean by Julia but Reyna wiped it again.
Gradually, her forehead began to sweat. She felt hot so she took off her coat.
She had just recovered so she was still weak. These house chores tired her out.
In the end, she fell to the ground and began to organize the things in the cabinet. She arranged everything inside in order until she saw the little toy inside.
Her hand froze, and then she took it out and rubbed it.
It was a small toy car. It was so small that Reyna could nip it with two fingers. It was sent by a salesperson when she went to a shop which mainly sold baby clothes.
The salesperson told Reyna that children liked toys like that and Reyna could give the toy to her baby in the future.
This was a good blessing.
Reyna accepted it with a beaming smile. But she didn’t expect…
Her baby didn’t have the chance to play with the toy car anymore.
She had been suppressing her feelings when she was in the hospital, left the hospital, and came home. Suddenly, she was overwhelmed by these suppressed feelings.
She covered her mouth so that Leroy would not hear her crying. But there were still her sobs.
Reyna tried to comfort herself after she had a miscarriage.
The nurse told her that she would have another baby.
Reyna told herself that the baby’s father was Leroy so it was a good thing for her to lose the baby. She didn’t want her baby to have a father like Leroy.
But she couldn’t help crying. The tears were falling down her face.
Reyna thought that this was the last time to cry for the baby.
She would forget it after today.
She would forget her lost baby from now on.
…
Reyna had just had a miscarriage. So, her internal meltdown put her in a bad mood recently.
Although she kept telling herself to be happy, the hormones in her body didn’t allow her to relax. She was a little depressed.
She didn’t want to walk to anyone and she barely spoke in the house. She disliked others’ touch.
She was trapped in her misery. If no one pulled her out, she would drown in her despair.
Leroy noticed that Reyna was depressed but he thought that the reason for her depression was her work. So, he cut back her job secretly.
But Reyna didn’t feel better.
It was getting colder and began to snow today.
Reyna took a day off so she got up early. But she only washed up and didn’t have breakfast. She stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window in the living room, staring at the snow outside.
Leroy saw her like this when he went to work and after he came back, she was still staying in the living room. But she was fast asleep on the sofa this time.
He walked over. Reyna curled up because she felt cold. The sheet on her body was too thin. She was sleeping peacefully and she would turn sometimes.
He bent down and held her in his arms, walking upstairs.
Leroy put her on the bed but Reyna woke up at once.
She looked at him coldly. She said in a toneless voice, “When did you come back?”
“Just now.”
Leroy took off his coat and crawled into the quilt, holding her in his arms and kissing her gently.
Reyna avoided his kiss and said, “I am tired. I want to have some sleep.”
Leroy was pissed off by her rejection.
He didn’t let her go and said, “I haven’t touched you for so long.”
He tried not to make out with her before he went on a business trip. And he had been back for a month and she still refused his touch.
Reyna pressed her hands against Leroy’s chest. She realized that it had been six months since she lost her baby.
The period after her surgery was also over.
“But I … don’t want to do it,” Reyna murmured.
She wasn’t lying. Every time he wanted to make out with her, Reyna would think of the baby.
She wanted to overcome this by herself so she didn’t want to have sex with Leroy.
Her voice was weak. She seemed to have lost all her strength after the miscarriage both physically and mentally.
“I feel that you’ve been weird recently,” Leroy said.
He paused.
Then he added, “You kept staring at the snow outside the window. You will cry when you see any news about children on the TV.”
Reyna was a tough girl. No matter how Leroy treated her, she would not cry.
However, after she lost her baby, she would cry when she sat there to watch TV without doing anything.
Reyna panicked and said, “The news was horrible so I was frightened.”
Leroy didn’t ask more, He held her tightly and said, “I will just hold you like this. Let’s sleep.”
Reyna realized that she had cried so many times recently.
She didn’t want to be trapped by the depression.
She also knew that she shouldn’t indulge herself in the loss of her baby. It was time to walk forward.
She kept telling herself, especially at night when she was moody, that she should let it go.
To clear her head, she began to do house chores when she was home.
She would water the flowers in the garden or learn how to cook with Julia.
Or Reyna would lock herself in the room and draw.
One day, when she was drawing, she heard some noises outside. When she opened the door and wanted to have lunch, she saw a little ball of fur that swooped down on her.
