Leroy reached out and took her into his arms. “No matter what happens, I won’t let you go. Don’t escape from me. Never.”
At present, for Leroy, the marriage didn’t matter at all. What mattered was whether Reyna would always stay by his side.
Leroy had no illusions or thoughts about marriage. So marriage was just optional for him.
What Leroy did not know was when a man loved a woman deeply into his heart, he would have a strong urge.
He would have a strong urge to give everything in the world to the woman he loved. Everything.
Including marriage and love.
Only later did Leroy understand this.
Reyna stayed in Leroy’s arms. After a while, she said, “I’m tired. I want to rest.”
“It’s still early. I’ll take you to your room first. I’ll take you back when the banquet is over.”
Leroy took Reyna to a room. This was his room.
As president of the Malone Group, Leroy couldn’t afford to miss the banquet.
“The party will be over about 9:30 p.m., and I’ll pick you up when it’s over.” Leroy bent over and kissed her. Then Leroy left in satisfaction.
Reyna was so tired that she took off her high heels and lay on the bed quickly. Then she closed her eyes.
Just as she was drifting off to sleep, she woke up completely with a loud bang.
Reyna suddenly got up from the bed and looked around before she realized that this was the room at the banquet.
She checked the time, and it was already past 9:30.
Reyna wondered why Leroy had not come back.
Then she thought of that loud bang…
Reyna listened carefully, but it was silent now.
‘Was it a dream?’ Reyna thought.
She recalled the sound carefully. It was like the sound of slamming a door.
Reyna put on her shoes. She opened the door and walked out.
She slept on the second floor. As she stepped out of the corridor, she looked down to the first floor and found that the banquet had long since ended and that only a few scattered staff members were now packing up.
Reyna didn’t find Leroy.
She took out her phone and called him, but no one answered.
Reyna couldn’t help but think, ‘Leroy went back alone and forget about me here, right?’
Reyna made a phone call again as she searched for Leroy.
Suddenly a man ran out behind Reyna, holding his chest with one hand, and stumbled down the stairs, only to bump Reyna directly into the back.
The man was pushed down to the ground.
Reyna subconsciously grabbed the railing next to her to avoid not falling.
Reyna’s face turned sullen. However, when she saw the familiar man in front of her, she shouted uncertainly, “Bentley?”
The man suddenly turned to look at her, his eyes cold like ice, staring straight at Reyna.
“Bentley? What happened to you? You…” Reyna steadied herself and walked towards him. Then she suddenly found something and stopped, staring back at him.
Reyna knew this face. She was sure this man was Bentley who just talked to her at the banquet.
However, Bentley’s blue eyes, which were always blue like the ocean, now turned dark.
His cold expression was strange to Reyna.
Realizing something, Reyna took a few steps back. “You are not Bentley! Who are you?”
Dereon slowly stood up. He suddenly grinned at her. “Long time no see, Reyna. Do you like my gift?”
It was a familiar voice to her.
The voice was not as hoarse as being destroyed by fire. Not only was it normal, but it was…
Reyna felt like she had heard it before.
Reyna’s eyes widened. “You kidnapped me!”
She recognized his voice.
Reyna didn’t know what on earth was going on.
As he spoke, he heard footsteps. His eyes turned cold and he strode forward, holding Reyna with one hand and tightly covering her mouth with the other.
Reyna had no defenses and only made a few muffled sounds before being taken into a room next to them.
With a loud bang, the door was closed and the man pressed her against the wall, still covering her mouth as he observed the movements outside.
Reyna struggled in his arms, but Dereon was so strong that he almost crushed her against the wall. Her heart was almost crushed.
Reyna felt badly hurt.
‘Why?’ she wondered.
Reyna didn’t know what was going on.
She didn’t know why this man had Bentley’s face but his eyes were dark.
Reyna also heard the footsteps. She tried to attract attention by making a louder hum as the footsteps approached.
Understanding her intention, the man directly grabbed her neck.
He was so powerful that Reyna’s face turned red because of suffocation, and she was even more unable to move.
“Be quiet or I will kill you!”
As the footsteps faded away, the man put down his guard. Just as he released Reyna, there was once again a sudden loud bang.
The door was kicked open and slammed into the wall, making a deep crack on it.
Reyna cried out, subconsciously covered her head, and squatted down.
The next second, a group of armed people rushed in and quickly captured Dereon.
Reyna was stunned. She looked up and saw Leroy bending down and trying to pick her up.
“Reyna, are you alright?”
“Leroy?” Reyna got up and looked at the group of people in front of her. Finally, her gaze fell on Dereon. “What’s going on?”
“I’ll deal with it…” Leroy’s gaze inadvertently fell on her red neck. He touched her neck and his eyes turned cold. “He pinched you?”
As Leroy spoke, he shifted his gaze on Bentley. The assistant beside him immediately understood, directly kicked Dereon to the bed, and stepped on his head, making him unable to move.
“Leroy, what are you doing? Let him go!”
“Reyna, he killed our kid. I won’t let him off so easily today.”
“What?” Reyna widened her eyes and looked at Leroy. “What do you mean?”
“His is Dereon. He tried his best to pretend to be Bentley and got close to you.”
Leroy handed her a document. “He had plastic surgery to look like Bentley to get close to you just to get back at you.”
Reyna was told the whole story and she felt she could not breathe.
In the end, she was far more beyond shock.
She looked at Dereon with disbelief in her eyes. “Tell me, why? Why do you do this to me? I don’t know you.”
