- Chapter 214 - She Was Doomed to Meet Leroy
“Shouldn’t you ask Leroy about this?” Reyna couldn’t stand it since Viola always found fault with her.
“Reyna, don’t be too arrogant! If I hadn’t taken that photo, you wouldn’t have been back!”
Reyna sneered. “Then should I thank you for that?”
“Of course.”
“So this is what you want?”
“Reyna! Stop beating around the bush!”
Reyna’s face darkened.
She looked at Viola sarcastically. “Viola, if you hadn’t done those stupid things, perhaps you would be with him. Unfortunately, you facilitated my being with Leroy again. You have to be blamed for it.”
“Besides, I will never forgive you.”
After saying that, she walked away.
Although it didn’t matter to Viola whether Reyna would forgive her, Reyna still couldn’t help hating her.
Perhaps she was doomed to meet Leroy who was totally a devil.
…
The end of October was followed by autumn.
In the early autumn, it was a little cold in the morning and Reyna even put on a long-sleeved shirt.
Every day, she shuttled between the hospital, company, and the Imperial Garden. As time passed, Reyna was more and more worried about Lance’s illness.
Fortunately, Lance tried to be cooperative in treatment, so he was getting better. The doctor even said that Lance’s heart failure would be slowed down.
In other words, as long as Lance continued to be cooperative and remain relaxed, his life would probably be prolonged.
It would be prolonged by more than a year.
Despite that, Reyna was still worried. She had been trying to inquire about the youths who died in accidents. As soon as she learned their family members were willing to donate the heart, she would go to the hospital to ask about it.
But every time, the heart turned out not to match Lance’s.
This time, Reyna went back in vain again.
Recently, she had been to almost all the hospitals of whatever sizes in Hill City.
She sat down in the hospital corridor, took out her phone to check the time, and happened to see a missed call from Leroy.
Just as she was about to call him back, Leroy’s call came.
“Why haven’t you been home?”
“I’ve been busy with something.”
“Did you go to the hospital again for the matching heart?”
“Yes.”
She sounded upset, so Leroy knew it ended in vain. “You don’t have to rush around for it anymore. I’ve had someone keep an eye on it and once it’s available in Hill City, I will tell you.”
“Are… are you asking about it?” It did surprise Reyna.
Lance’s daily medical expenses went up to 100,000, which was covered by Leroy.
She did not expect him to inquire about the available heart silently.
“Yes, so you don’t have to worry about it.”
“No, don’t bother. My brother’s medical expenses…”
Leroy interrupted her, sounding angry, “Reyna, why are you always so polite?”
Until now, she had never counted on him.
Reyna was seen through and felt a little guilty. “I, I didn’t mean that.”
“It’s getting late. Be back as soon as possible.” Leroy wasn’t in the mood for her nonsense and hung up the phone when he finished speaking.
Reyna put her phone back into the bag and was going to leave. Suddenly, a loud bang came from the ward next to her, like the sound of glass being smashed.
Soon, two female nurses ran out of the room. One of them was in tears of grievance.
Reyna took a peek inside and was shocked at the spot when she saw who it was.
It was Dereon.
He was removing the needle from his hand with his right hand and getting out of the bed barefoot. Then he began to take off the gown as he searched for his clothes.
He was a little lame as he walked. He hunched and seemed dispirited, like an old man in his eighties and also like a desperate man without hope. Anyway, he wasn’t as arrogant as before.
In the process, his left arm hung weakly by his side as if he had lost all feeling in it.
Especially that broken finger, it immediately reminded Reyna of the scene where he tried to kill Leroy.
But she wondered what was wrong with his legs.
She thought, ‘Is it the result of being beaten by Leroy that time?’
Reyna asked the nurse beside her, “What’s wrong with this patient? Why is he so angry?”
The nurse sobbed and said, “Ever since he knew that he would be lame for the rest of his life, he had always been like this, smashing things and finding fault with everything. Every time we put him on a drip or examined him, we would be greatly careful lest that he would suddenly lose his temper and vent his anger on us!”
She was an intern and just worked in the hospital. She didn’t expect to face such a challenge. The executive said that as long as she took care of the patient until he was discharged, she would finish her internship.
She had thought she was so lucky, but she didn’t expect the patient to be a lunatic. She even felt she couldn’t hold on until he was discharged.
“Where is his family? Do they leave him alone?”
“I’ve never seen his family since he was hospitalized. Even the permission of the surgery was signed by our director.”
Reyna was a little surprised.
Hadn’t any Decker come to see him?
Why?
Reyna knew that any news of Dereon’s injury was stopped from being reported by the Decker family.
She wondered why they didn’t come to see him in that case.
Even if he was not real Bentley, at least he was seemingly the leader of the Decker Group. So they should not leave him alone.
The other nurse tugged the crying one and stopped her from saying more.
The attending doctor and the others happened to come over and try to calm him down.
Dereon, who had been struggling, suddenly calmed down when he saw Reyna.
The doctor was surprised until he knew that it was because of Reyna.
The doctor looked at her. “Are you the patient’s family?”
“No, I … I just know him.”
The doctor sighed, “So you are his friend, and no wonder he calmed down when he saw you. Then you might as well talk to him and comfort him.”
Then the doctor left with the others, leaving Reyna and him alone.
Dereon stared at her coldly. “What are you here? Are you gloating over it?”
Reyna gripped the bag strap and couldn’t get used to it when seeing Dereon who closely resembled Bentley. “It’s just a coincidence.”
