Having failed to find Bentley’s tombstone, Reyna could only return home disappointed.
The next day, she was listless at work.
At noon break, Reyna was lying on the table trying to take a nap. Yet a group of women were chattering beside her, making her unable to fall asleep.
Helpless, she could only get up and go to the lobby on the first floor to find a lounge.
Just as she came to the hall, she saw from afar a female colleague waving something and saying excitedly, “Look, the invitation for the birthday party of the young master of the Deckers.” The woman ran her fingers through her hair, continued proudly, “I heard this will be the first time that Mr. Decker shows up in public after he was injured two years ago. And I am gonna make some new connections this time.”
Reyna’s eyes suddenly widened. The young master of the Deckers … Which Deckers?
“Hey, Elaine, you just said that Mr. Decker was injured. When did he get injured? Why didn’t I know?” A newcomer asked Elaine, who was flaunting her invitation.
“You’re not from around here, are you? Basically all the locals knew about the fire that ‘killed’ Mr. Decker two years ago. Back then, it was a huge incident. However, I heard from other colleagues this morning that Mr. Decker is actually alive. He has been treated abroad for the past two years and recovered. You see, now he’s gonna announce his return on his birthday banquet at the Queen’s Hotel.”
Reyna didn’t hear a single word of the latter half of the sentence, and her brain was buzzing. “What’s his name? Tell me, what’s the name of that Mr. Decker?” She said excitedly as she strode forward and tugged Elaine’s arm.
How’s it possible? Is Bentley really still alive?
And he’s back? But why didn’t he come to look for her if he’s back?
So it wasn’t her hallucination out of missing when she saw him the last few times?
Elaine was startled by Reyna’s actions and subconsciously replied, “Bentley Decker?”
It was really him!
“Reyna, it’s still work hours. Where are you going?”
Just as Reyna turned around and was about to rush out, Krista suddenly grabbed her arm.
Reyna finally calmed down but kept muttering, “He’s still alive. Bentley is still alive…”
Krista had heard their conversation just now, but she didn’t forget to remind her, “Reyna, I heard them say that Bentley’s birthday party is at 7 o’clock tonight. It’s only noon now. You might not find anyone in the hotel if you go over by this time.”
Krista and Reyna were classmates and roommates back in college. She was the most clear about what happened between Reyna and Bentley two years ago, so she understood how desperate Reyna was to see Bentley now.
“Besides, we can’t go there without an invitation. Let’s calm down first and try to get an invitation.”
Thanks to Krista’s persuasion, Reyna calmed down and returned to her post.
However, they had asked everyone in the company and didn’t get an invitation anyway.
“Reyna, how about … you go ask Mr. Leroy? Maybe he can take you with him by that time?” Krista suggested.
Yet Reyna immediately rejected, “I don’t want to get involved with him too much.”
Especially when it came to Bentley.
The president’s office.
Viola walked in with her high heels and put the invitation on the table. She smiled and said, “Mr. Leroy, this is the invitation for the young Mr. Decker’s birthday banquet tonight. Do you want to go?”
“Just turn it down.”
There were countless banquets and activities like this every day. Leroy’s work schedule was always arranged in advance. He would follow the schedule and never waste his time on such meaningless activities.
“But we have been working closely with the Decker Group recently. Although it is alleged to be a birthday banquet tonight, the Deckers actually want to take this opportunity to announce the successor of the Decker Group. So in theory, we may as well go take a look.”
The man seemed to have remembered something, and the pen in his hand suddenly paused. Then, he put down the pen, reached out to the invitation on the table and opened it.
Seeing the name “Bentley Decker” on the invitation, Leroy couldn’t help but smile.
“I will go there tonight. Set it up.” He closed the invitation and put it back on the table. Then he looked up at Viola and said, “And you’ll go with me.”
Viola was stunned for a moment, then smiled and said, “Alright.”
She took the invitation, turned around and was about to leave when something suddenly occurred to her. She turned around again and looked at the noble man sitting on the chair, “That night … Thank you, Leroy.”
Viola had never thought that it would be Leroy who stayed by her side and took care of her all night when she was drunken and in the most painful and tough situation.
Wasn’t that ironic?
It was ironic for sure.
The man she loved the most cheated on her, while the one who was willing to take care of her was the man she had never wanted to get close to.
By the time Leroy looked up again, she had already turned around and left the office.
If he remembered correctly, this was the first time she had called him by his name, rather than Mr. Leroy.
He had always been a man who would simply snatch whatever he liked.
However, he respected Viola and didn’t want to coerce her.

Without an invitation, Reyna could only think of other ways. After work, she instantly left the company.
She didn’t go home but directly went to the Queen’s Hotel. Yet, having no invitation, she was immediately cleared out when she arrived at the door.
She was so anxious, but just as she was about to give up, she noticed that there was a job ad on the wall beside, hiring temporary workers.
Her eyes lit up with hope again. She tore off the job ad on the wall and explained to the security guard at the door. The security guard finally let her in.
When the night fell, the birthday banquet finally began.
As more and more guests entered, Reyna started to get busier. She shuttled through the crowd, bringing wine to guests and refilling dessert trays, terribly busy.
When all the guests had arrived, the Deckers finally walked onto the stage as everyone expected.
Rupert Decker stood on the stage and looked down on the crowd. He smiled, “Thank you for coming to my son’s 26th birthday banquet amidst your busy schedule.”
The crowd had come to congratulate them with birthday gifts.
“Thank you all for your blessings. Tonight is vital to our family, because it represents the return of my son, Bentley Decker, from the fires! And I would like take this opportunity to announce a most important decision to all of you and friends in the media that, from today, from now on, my son Bentley will take over the Decker Group, and he will be the sole successor and leader of the Decker Group!”
Huge noise broke out in the crowd as Rupert finished his words.
In the meantime, tonight’s protagonist finally stepped onto the stage amidst people’s exclamations.
Reyna stood in the back corner of the hall in work uniform. Her hands were tightly tugging the corners of her clothes, and her eyes were staring straight at the familiar face on the stage that she hadn’t seen for a long time.
She could no longer hold back her tears. The tears fell down her cheek like crazy, instantly blurring her sight.
It was really Bentley! It was really him!
He was really still alive…
Although his face had changed a little, his moves, his humble smile and so many other things were still the same as before.
Only his eyes were no longer as clear as they were in college, but deeper and steadier.
Even his voice was still the same as before, though a little hoarse now.
Apparently, it was caused by the fire.
Bentley swept across the entire scene. His thin lips were as sharp as knives, and his blue eyes were ocean deep. Deep, and emotionless.
He curled his lips and smiled, “Thank you all for coming to my birthday banquet tonight. Today, I have another event to announce, and it’s kind of personal…”
He walked down the stage and took a woman in a pure white dress onto the stage again. “This is Miss Isabelle Clark from the Clarks. In two months, we will be engaged, and she will become my only wife!”
