- Chapter 278 - The End of the Romantic Relationship
“I didn’t do that.” Leroy was silent for a few seconds and continued, “How could I hurt Reyna’s family? I will never hurt those closest to Reyna.”
Lance was indeed run over by Leroy’s car and killed, although Leroy didn’t mean to.
This fact would drive Reyna to break up with Leroy.
It would lead to the end of the romantic relationship between Reyna and Leroy.
Layton believed what Leroy had said. As for the truth, it would not make any difference even if Layton knew it.
To avoid adding to Leroy’s sadness, Layton did not keep on inquiring.
“Reyna is emotionally unstable. You should pay more attention to her emotional problems.” Layton reminded Leroy before he left.
Layton added, “Call me any time if there is any problem.”
Layton sighed and thought the only thing he could do now was to cure Reyna.
…
The next day, Reyna woke up and only found Julia sitting by her bed.
Julia noticed that Reyna had woken up, and she stood up hurriedly, “Miss Reyna, are you okay?”
Although Reyna opened her eyes, she was still lying on the bed with her eyes staring blankly at the ceiling. She didn’t respond to Julia’s words.
Julia asked again, “Miss Reyna, are you hungry now? How about feeding you some food?”
But Reyna remained silent. Julia worried that Reyna would get hungry, so she went downstairs to fetch a bowl of porridge.
Julia sat by Reyna’s bed and helped Reyna sit up and lean against the edge of the bed. Then Julia blew on the porridge to make it cooler and tried to feed Reyna.
Reyna stared rigidly ahead and remained expressionless just like an unfeeling puppet.
Julia fed her, but Reyna did not open her mouth. Julia was frantic with worry and went downstairs to take Leroy here.
Leroy took care of Reyna all night. After Julia came here, Leroy went to take a shower. When Leroy heard Julia’s voice, he took a quick shower and ran out barefoot in a bathrobe.
Leroy went upstairs in strides and entered Reyna’s bedroom.
Julia wore a worried expression, “Mr. Leroy, Miss Reyna refuses to eat and keeps crying.”
Leroy walked closer to Reyna and saw that Reyna was still sitting up on the bed. Reyna looked pale and calm, but tears kept streaming from her eyes.
Reyna was expressionless, but her tears kept falling silently.
Reyna seemed to have fallen into her world and shielded herself from everything outside. She made no response no matter who talked to her.
Leroy sat by the bed and stretched out his hand to gently wipe Reyna’s tears away. “Reyna, don’t cry anymore. I beg you.”
Leroy said in a soft and gentle voice.
But there was a hint of sadness in Leroy’s voice.
No matter how Leroy wiped Reyna’s tears away, tears kept pouring down.
It was as if Reyna’s tears would stream down endlessly.
Leroy felt flustered and wiped Reyna’s tears with a tissue. “Reyna, I beg you to stop crying.”
Leroy didn’t know what to do to stop Reyna from crying.
Leroy felt he could do nothing.
Perhaps Reyna had no more tears to roll down, she finally stopped crying.
Leroy was relieved and hurriedly picked up the bowl of porridge to feed Reyna, “Reyna, eat some food, okay?”
Reyna, who acted like an unfeeling puppet, finally made a move.
Reyna moved her fingers and slowly turned to look at Leroy.
Leroy froze subconsciously.
Leroy and Reyna looked at each other silently. The next moment, Reyna suddenly raised her hand and knocked the bowl from Leroy’s hand.
With a bang, the bowl in Leroy’s hand fell to the ground and broke into pieces, scattering everywhere.
Reyna was still silent and stared at Leroy angrily.
Julia, who was standing aside, hurriedly walked over, “Mr. Leroy, let me do it.”
Julia could feel that Reyna did not want to see Leroy now.
Leroy didn’t get mad but looked at Reyna deeply.
After a while, Leroy stood up. “Ms. Julia, please feed Reyna.”
Leroy turned around and left the room.
Julia took another bowl of porridge to feed Reyna.
Reyna still refused to eat it. After Julia’s persuasion, Reyna ate some porridge but vomited what she ate.
Reyna looked paler and more painful. Julia did not dare to feed Reyna anymore and asked her to have a rest.
Reyna took a glance at the syringe needle in her hand.
Fortunately, Layton knew Reyna’s condition well. Now Reyna was put on an intravenous drip and out of danger.
Just as Julia walked out of the room, Leroy asked, “Has Reyna eaten the porridge?”
Leroy looked paler than Reyna. Julia said worriedly, “No, she hasn’t. Mr. Leroy, you haven’t slept for two days. Please have a rest. I will take care of Miss Reyna.”
Leroy wanted to refuse, but he felt Reyna didn’t want to see him now. So he nodded in agreement.
Recently, the weather was unpredictable. It rained all day from drizzle to moderate rain. It only stopped raining for about half an hour. Then it rained again as if the rain was falling endlessly.
Around midnight, thunder grumbled in the distance. And lightning crackled through the sky and lit everything up for a second.
Soon, it rained heavily. The thunder cracked and rain splashed against the windows. It sounded like a devil who was murmuring and wanted to break through the window and come in.
On the second floor, Reyna slowly walked out of her bedroom.
“Lance, where are you?” Reyna pushed open the door and walked out. She wandered around aimlessly as if she was looking for something. Lance cried and shouted, “Lance, where are you? Show up quickly, okay? Don’t play hide-and-seek with me. It’s not fun at all…”
Reyna walked barefoot and her clothes that were originally fitted hung loosely on her body. Because of the death of Lance, Reyna was sad and became thinner. Her trousers were dragging on the ground and Reyna would stumble over them and fall to the ground at any time.
“Lance, Lance…”
Reyna’s tears rolled down uncontrollably. She held a melodica tightly in her hand and searched all the rooms one by one. But no matter how Reyna searched and shouted, she failed to find Lance.
Lance was nowhere to be found.
Lance was gone.
When Reyna came to the door of the last room, she suddenly stopped to look up the words on the door. Then she pushed the door open and walked in.
The room was lit day and night. As soon as Reyna entered, she felt the air was filled with incense. She also saw a spirit tablet.
Lance’s name and the time he passed away were written on the spirit tablet.
