- Chapter 348 - Lance Is Still Alive
After Reyna got off work, she didn’t want to go straight back to the Imperial Garden, so she walked on the street.
This was the first time she had been allowed to leave the Imperial Garden since Leroy had imprisoned her there for nearly two months.
She felt liberated when she breathed in some fresh air outside.
Reyna looked up and took a long breath. She casually got on a bus and sat down, quietly watching the receding scenery.
She didn’t know how long she had been sitting there, but by the time she reacted, she had already arrived at the station at the entrance of the Sira School of Music.
“Wait!”
Reyna hurriedly got off the bus.
Reyna’s eyes suddenly turned red as she saw the familiar scenery in front of her.
She had unknowingly arrived here.
Maybe she missed Lance too much.
Recently, she kept recalling many times when she was with Lance for no reason, whether it was in the hospital or the small rental apartment. The scene of the two of them playing piano together was the one she was most eager to remember.
Because this was the only way she could know Lance was still by her side, never died.
Reyna entered the school.
It happened that the class had ended at this time, and the security guards were not on duty, so she could enter and exit at will.
Reyna went straight to the classroom where Lance had previously studied. She hadn’t been here in years and it remained unchanged. She could recall Lance sitting there, intently listening to the teacher at the time.
To let him find her at one glance, she secretly stood outside the classroom door all the time, waiting for him to leave class.
Reyna absent-mindedly looked at the seat that Lance had once sat in, tears welling up in her eyes.
She silently wiped her tears and turned to leave the classroom.
It was already past seven in the evening when she returned to the Imperial Garden.
Leroy had yet to return.
Reyna went to the master bedroom on the second floor and lay straight on the bed. She seemed to have thought of something. She then suddenly sat up and jumped out of the bed. She squatted beside the cabinet, opened the drawer of the bottom cabinet, and began to search.
She remembered that she had left the family photo here before.
She searched for a long time but could not find it. Instead, she saw a cell phone that was the same as the one that had been smashed by Martin.
She thought, ‘Why is there a phone here?’
Reyna picked it up and casually tuned it on, confirming that it was not her phone. Just as she turned it off and put it back, she inadvertently saw the only photo in the photo album out of the corner of her eyes.
The inexplicable sense of familiarity made her subconsciously open it with her hand.
The photo was zoomed big. At that moment, Reyna felt as if she had been struck by lightning, and her mind went blank.
She looked at the photo in front of her in shock, her hands trembling.
‘Lance?
Is this Lance?’ thought Reyna.
Reyna zoomed the photo and carefully looked at it. She finally confirmed that the person in the photo was Lance.
In the photo, Lance seemed to be in the hospital. He was lying on a hospital bed. He was wearing an oxygen mask and had infusion needles in the back of his hand. His eyes were closed as if he was asleep. His face was serene.
Even though he closed his eyes, Reyna could sense that he was alive from the photo.
Reyna thought, ‘Lance is alive.’
Reyna’s heart was racing rapidly. She was taken aback for a time by the surprise. Her fingers continued to stroke the photograph. She muttered to herself in a low voice, “It’s Lance. It’s my brother. He’s not dead yet. He’s still alive.”
In the end, Reyna could no longer hold back her tears. Her tears kept streaming down and fell on the screen of the phone, quickly blurring the photo.
Reyna wiped the tears off the screen while crying.
A year later, Reyna cried like a helpless child again because of Lance.
But she cried this time out of joy.
Reyna sat on the ground, her tears streaming down and drying again and again. She didn’t know how long she cried before she finally calmed herself down.
She got up and sent the photo to her phone.
Only then did she realize a problem.
How could there be a photo of Lance on the phone?
Moreover, this was the first time Reyna had seen this phone.
Could it be…
Reyna thought of something and quickly got up. Just as she was about to call Leroy, the sound of a car engine came from the yard.
Leroy returned.
Reyna ran down the stairs as fast as she could. When she went downstairs, Leroy happened to walk in.
Reyna ran to him and waved the phone in her phone. “Leroy, don’t you want to explain it to me?”
Leroy’s cold eyes fell on the phone in her hand. “Explain what?”
“Lance’s photo! There’s Lance’s photo on the phone! I found this phone in your room. Isn’t it yours?”
Compared to Reyna’s excitement, Leroy remained calm. He asked, “So what?”
Reyna’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Leroy, don’t you have anything to explain to me? Why? Did Lance die a year ago? Why is he still alive? I checked the photo’s shooting date and it was taken lately.”
Leroy walked to the sofa and sat down. He looked at her. “Yes, your brother is still alive.”
“Really? Is Lance still alive?” Reyna sat down beside him and held his arm tightly. “Is he alright? How is he? Leroy, take me to see him. I want to see him now. Can you take me to see him?”
Leroy lowered his eyebrows, his gaze falling on the arm Reyna was holding tightly. Finally, he forcefully pushed her hands away. “Why should I bring you to see him?”
“What did you say?” Reyna was taken aback. “Leroy, he is my brother! He’s lying in the hospital right now. I must go to see him!”
Leroy stood up and replied, “You can’t see him as you want.” He then bent down slightly, grabbed her chin with one hand, and forcefully raised it. “Reyna, your brother’s life is now in my hands. I have the power to decide whether he lives or dies!”
“What do you mean?” asked Reyna.
“Didn’t I make myself clear? Reyna, if you don’t listen to me in the future, your brother will be in danger. Do you understand?”
Reyna yelled in anger, “Leroy, you can’t do this! Lance is my younger brother. You can’t kill him. What do you want me to do if you kill him?”
She could no longer bear the pain of losing Lance again.
“That depends on you.” Leroy smiled coldly. “Reyna, you are too disobedient, so I can only make you obey in this way.”
Reyna’s face was full of shock. “What did you say? What do you mean?”
“Don’t you understand?” Leroy snatched the phone from her hand. “I deliberately placed this phone in my room. I also took the photo on purpose to let you see it.”
“You … Leroy! You bastard!”
Leroy had already turned to go upstairs and turned a deaf ear to her roar.
Reyna slumped to the ground, tears streaming down her cheeks again.
She didn’t understand why things ended up like this.
Lance was her younger brother. Why didn’t Leroy allow her to see him?
