- Chapter 361 - Have I Ever Warmed Up Your Heart?
Reyna thought about it carefully and finally remembered that she had a high fever and her mind was blurry. When she took the medicine, she carelessly ate too much.
Even now, Reyna could not imagine how she had taken so many antipyretics without being aware of it.
Could it be that she had been so disappointed with Leroy?
The nurse left after changing the infusion bottle. Now only the two were left in the ward.
Hana handed the peeled apple to her. “Do you still want to eat?”
Reyna looked at Hana in confusion. “Ms. Green, we’re not friends. I can’t sit here and talk with you calmly.”
Hana was stunned. Then, she smiled and said, “Are you still angry with what I said to you before?”
Because Reyna neither wanted to talk to Hana nor see her, she lay down. “Ms. Green, I’m feeling unwell and want to rest. If there’s nothing else, please leave.”
Instead of being irritated, Hana even pretended to sigh regretfully. “Alright, alright. I’m not the person you want to see. Since that’s the case, I’m leaving.”
Hana carried her bag and turned to leave the ward.
The doctor asked Reyna to be discharged tomorrow, but after she had a drip in the afternoon, she told the doctor that she was determined to be discharged.
Since Reyna was recovering well, the doctor agreed.
Reyna carried a small bag of medicine and returned to her residence.
Although Reyna was still a little weak when she walked, her fever had gone and her stomach was not painful anymore. She felt much better.
After walking in the door, Reyna washed her face and lay on the bed, continuing to sleep.
However, after tossing and turning for more than half an hour, many memories of Leroy flashed through Reyna’s mind.
At the end of the thought, Reyna recalled Leroy’s attitude towards her during this period.
It was cold. No matter what Reyna did, Leroy did not appreciate it. Their roles seemed to have been swapped a year later, and when she wanted to compensate him and treat him well, he refused it.
Just as Leroy had treated Reyna well before with all his heart and she did not appreciate it and ignored it.
Reyna had a deep understanding of this feeling now.
However, Reyna also knew that they were unable to change back given the condition.
Reyna was tired, really tired.
She finally recognized her feelings for Leroy. But he didn’t want her now.
As Reyna hurt him and he was in despair, again and again, they gradually turned into strangers to each other.
The hand of Leroy that she had refused to hold in the past was not within her reach now.
Reyna’s face was covered by the blanket. Maybe it was because Reyna had just recovered or because of something else, somehow her nose felt sore and her eyes were hot. Soon, tears flowed out unconsciously.
After a long time, Reyna sat up and took out her phone to send a message. She selected Leroy’s phone number and edited a text.
After she finished, Reyna looked at the words in a daze. After thinking cautiously, she finally made up her mind and sent it.
Then, she put the phone back on the bedside cabinet, covered the blanket again, and closed her eyes to sleep.
While Reyna was sleeping, she felt that her body was getting heavier and heavier, and her breathing was becoming more and more difficult. In her nightmare, she was pressed down by a boulder, and no matter how much she struggled and how hard she tried, she failed to push away the boulder on her body.
It was so heavy…
Reyna struggled for a while and slowly woke up from her dream. Then, she opened her sleepy eyes to have a look. Just as she was ready to close her eyes and continue sleeping, her eyes suddenly widened.
Reyna completely woke up.
Reyna pushed away Leroy on her body with both hands and shrank back into the corner, staring at him with vigilance. “Leroy, when did you come in?”
Leroy was pushed under the bed. He stood up, adjusted his messy suit, and glanced at her. “It’s been a long time.”
Leroy was dressed in a tailored suit and his tie was neatly tied. He seemed to have just rushed over from the company.
“What are you here for?”
“What am I here for? Reyna, you should know.” With both hands on the bed, Leroy once again leaned forward and his face got closely with hers. “Tell me. What does that text message mean?”
“The literal meaning. I believe that you can understand it.”
Leroy laughed in anger. “Reyna, are you going to give up your brother?”
“I thought about it for a long time. Rather than keeping him by my side without the best treatment, it would be better to let him be like before. In this way, his illness would not be affected by these trivial matters.”
Leroy was surprised by Reyna’s thought.
When Leroy had just received the text message, he still did not believe it. It was less than ten words, but he read it for more than ten minutes.
“Leroy, I’m tired. From now on, we are strangers.”
Leroy’s expression turned serious as he glared at her. “Are you giving up on me too?”
Reyna looked up at him and then laughed bitterly. “Leroy, you already have Hana! Yes, you can ignore this, but I care! Since we can’t go back, then let go. What’s the point of torturing each other like this?”
As Reyna spoke, her eyes began to water. “It was my fault in the past, so I won’t blame you for what you have done to me recently.”
Reyna saw it as his venting.
Reyna lowered her head and said with suppressed grievances and compromises. “Leroy. I don’t want it. I don’t want anything else. You can take everything.”
“Reyna, do you think you can refuse just because you don’t want it?” Leroy held her chin with his palm and forced her face up.
Reyna’s face was still warm from a high fever and Leroy felt it. “Reyna, I will only ask you one question.”
Without struggling, Reyna kept the position and looked into Leroy’s eyes.
Leroy looked into Reyna’s bright eyes. He pointed at her heart with his finger and his gaze followed. He asked word by word, “Did I ever warm up your heart?”
“Yes.”
Leroy raised his eyes to look at her.
With a serious look, Reyna looked at him sincerely and repeated word by word, “Leroy. You’ve warmed it before.”
Otherwise, Reyna would not have cried when she thought that he was killed by a shot and fell into the sea. She also would not be so concerned and sad when he had another woman.
Reyna really cared.
It was undeniable that her feelings for him a year ago were repressed and tangled. Anyway, she thought he was the murderer who hurt Bentley and Lance back then. The two lives separated them, causing tension between them, and in the end, Reyna could only choose to find the exit herself.
The guilt she felt now was as deep as her hatred for him a year ago.
A year ago, Reyna knew love, but she did not dare to love and was not worthy of love.
