Reyna was just about to say something when Lance interrupted, “Reyna is a very good person. She won’t mind you joining us. And you just saved me, I should invite you for a meal.”
“What? He saved you?” When Reyna heard this, she looked at Leroy and asked nervously, “What was going on?”
Leroy answered, “A group of students was causing him trouble and I saved him.”
Reyna then looked back at Lance, “Samuel and the others were troubling you?”
Lance nodded. He would not lie to Reyna and he told her everything that had happened.
Reyna was very worried at first, but when she heard to the end of the story, she felt better.
Compared to Samuel and the others, who were hooligans, Leroy was a real bully.
Reyna said, “Take a detour when you see Samuel and the others again. Try not to have anything to do with him. If there is anything, tell me, okay?”
Lance replied, “Got it, don’t worry.”
While they were chatting, the food they ordered had been served.
Reyna was surprised that Leroy ate the food in the canteen with relish because the last time when they ate barbecue together, Leroy didn’t enjoy it at all.
Although the environment and food hygiene in the canteen were much better than barbecue, it was not a five-star restaurant. It was strange for a man like Leroy to enjoy.
During the meal, Reyna chatted only with Lance. They talked about school and music. Neither did Reyna talk about Leroy, nor did she speak to him.
Lance chatted with Reyna as he ate. Occasionally, he was concerned about Reyna’s recent situation, especially her work. Lance then said, “I remember you said you are working in the Malone Group. What a coincidence! Mr. Leroy has a company and it’s also called the Malone Group.”
Hearing this, Reyna instantly lost her appetite. She did not hurriedly explain anything because Lance knew her very well. As long as she panicked, there must be something unusual.
So Reyna calmly brushed it off, “Oh, really? What a coincidence! Mr. Leroy.”
Leroy put down the chopsticks. He had a rare smile on his face, which had a deeper meaning, “What a coincidence! There are very few companies with the same name as the Malone Group in Hill City.”
“…”
Reyna hoped that Leroy would shut up immediately!
However, Leroy continued to ask, “What position do you hold?”
Reyna gritted his teeth, “Interior designer.”
Leroy was surprised, “What a coincidence! My company also has a young designer who is around your age. She is excellent and meticulous at her work, so it is difficult to find any problems.”
Reyna knew that Leroy was putting on an act.
She snorted and echoed his words, “Really? I want to get to know her the next time.”
Leroy asked, “Do you need me to arrange a time for you?”
Reyna smiled, “No, thank you.”
The two talked and successfully pulled the topic away. Lance peeked at them as he ate obediently.
And he thought, ‘Something is happening between them!’
They finished the meal soon. Lance parted here because he had classes in the afternoon.
Reyna gave the remaining one thousand cash to Lance, “Lance, take it. You have lost so much weight recently. Take care of yourself, understand?”
“Okay, Reyna,” Lance picked up his bag and replied, “Take care of yourself too.”
“Go ahead,” Reyna nodded.
Lance greeted Leroy, then Lance turned back to the dormitory.
Reyna and Leroy got into the car and he started the engine. Reyna looked a little sad and lonely.
Sensing Reyna’s mood, he asked, “Why are you sad after meeting with Lance?”
“Leroy,” She raised her head to look at him, “This weekend … Can I go back to my residence?”
Leroy said, “Sure.”
She looked at him and happily asked, “Really?”
He said, “But I have one condition.”
She then asked, “What is it?”
He tilted his head to her side and stared at her little face, “Tonight, you must move back to the master bedroom on the second floor.”
“I don’t agree!” Reyna said.
She knew what Leroy was thinking about! How could she let him succeed?
Leroy said, “If you don’t agree, then let’s forget about that matter.”
Reyna bit her lower lip, unwilling to talk to him anymore.
Leroy was unhappy along the way. As soon as he returned to the Imperial Garden, his phone rang. It seemed that there was something going on in the company. He put on his jacket and walked out.
Reyna was happy that Leroy went to work and leave her alone. After dinner, she moved out the easel and the drawing board and began to draw.
She had excellent art skills. After college, she started to draw pictures on the computer. There were very few opportunities to use charcoal pencils, which she liked very much.
Leroy did not allow her to go to work and she had read most of the design books she had bought. So she could only buy some art materials on the Internet and started to draw with charcoal pencils just like before.
She took the charcoal pen and sketched the familiar outline in her mind. Meanwhile, the rustling sound was extremely loud in the quiet room.
With just a few strokes, she outlined a face.
Reyna didn’t have any reference object, not even a photo. She had drawn it from her memory.
What she drew was exactly the family portrait of the Herrings, her father, Lance, and her.
As time passed, the outline of the face gradually became clear. Looking at the familiar face on the paper, she could not help but raise her hand to touch it.
Reyna thought, ‘Dad, I miss you so much…’
The great change in the Herring family seemed to have happened yesterday.
There was a family photo before. It was framed and hung in the living room by her father. As long as she went home from school, she would see it when she looked up.
The photo was so familiar that it seemed to be carved into her bones and fused with her flesh and blood!
Reyna remembered everyone, every smile, and even every detail of the photo. As long as she closed her eyes, it would appear.
Leroy came back at night. Knowing that she would definitely not be in the master bedroom, he directly turned to the guest room on the third floor.
Reyna was asleep.
He walked over and bumped into something hard. He turned on the bedside lamp and saw an easel.
He also found a painting on the drawing board, which was almost finished.
In the painting, there were two young children and a man in his thirties.
It was a family portrait!
Leroy easily recognized that the man was Reyna’s father, and the one sitting at the front was Lance.
In that picture, Reyna’s hands were hanging on her father’s shoulders from behind. She tilted her head to one side and faced the camera with a sweet and beautiful smile. The little girly was innocent and lively.
Reyna, in this family portrait, was about seventeen years old and had not yet reached adulthood, but her delicate features had already appeared.
Suddenly, Leroy remembered Reyna’s attitude when she chatted with Lance at noon. She was relaxed and spoke a lot while smiling, although most of the words were concerns from an elder sister.
He didn’t see her behave like this when she was by his side.
Leroy wondered how many sides Reyna had.
Leroy’s gaze fell on the woman who was sleeping soundly. He then walked over and bent down to carry her out.
Leroy thought that since she was unwilling to move back to the master bedroom, he could only take her back himself.
Reyna was sleeping very soundly, but when Leroy brought her to the bed in the master bedroom, she woke up.
Her mind and vision were still a little blurry. A moment later, she recognized the face in front of her. Her pupils suddenly dilated, and the next second, she quickly shrank to the corner of the bed.
Reyna asked, “Leroy, why did you bring me here?”
Leroy began to take off his clothes and replied, “Sleep.”
