It has been a month since I got out of the hospital. My relationship with Daniel continues to be cold. Although he tried to be nice to me, I tried to avoid seeing him as much as possible. When he is at downstairs, I will be upstairs. That’s how situation goes on between me and him. Even when the meal time, I’m just like a cookies. For sometime I’ll join them, and sometimes not. Madam Emma just follows my rhythm. When Daniel was not there, the noise of my voice will be heard in the bungalow house. Else, I would just stay in my room for 24/7.
Studying is the strongest reason I feel. There’s no one dare to disturb me because of that reason. And actually, I’m not even lying. My schedule is very busy. I should study even harder to catch up everything I left behind. And it has made me tired and exhausted. I almost gave up.
Madam Emma did give me a lot of support and words of encouragement for me to keep trying. She said, I don’t need to worry about what is happening around me. That’s all are her responsibility. Success is my main mission.
That’s why she hired a teacher to teach me ten grade lessons in the afternoon. Sometimes, Daniel humbly lends a helping hand to teach me. But I didn’t care or pay attention for it at all. I’m still angry with him.
I heard a knock on the door of my room. Christy entered my room without my permission.
” Siso, let’s eat! ”
” I don’t want to eat if that stupid jerk is there. ”
” He’s not there. He’s at Singapore now, Siso. “
” Really? Or are you just lying on me? ”
” Yeah really, I’m not lying. Come on. Mommy said she wants to talk with you. “
At The Dining Room…
I’m sitting at the dining table. My siblings are also ready to eat. I started to feel irritated a bit. What does Madam Emma want to say?
” Next week the term holiday start, right? ”
” Yeah, why mommy? ”
Madam Emma smiled sweetly staring at me and my siblings.
” I have an agenda for you all, because I doesn’t want you all to waste time like that.”
All eyes are looking at her. What kind of agenda is this now?
” Okay, listen, during the school holidays, all of you will learn swimming. “
” Swimming? ”
That word is quite interesting to all of us. Indeed, we have been wanting to swim in the pool behind this bungalow for a long time. But because we don’t know how to swim, we can only look at the water.
” Yeayyy! It’s cool, mommy! ” Caden feeling excited already for it.
” Do you like it? I knows you all like it. ”
” But, tuition and extra classes are still there. No excuses! ”
“Oh no….”
The long voices of Caden and Christy inviting uproarious laughter at the dinner table.
” Sarah will manage all the things. The coach for swimming is also there. ”
We all grinned.
” Oh yes, there is one more Charlee. “
I was silent. My eyes fluttered looking at Madam Emma.
” This saturday is your birthday, right? “
This Saturday? Well, how can I forget? Actually, I never even cared about my birthday. Just never considered that date important in my life. Because every year my birthday will pass without me realizing it.
” I thought of throw a little party for you. Celebrate sweet seventeen which is already sweet. “
Huh? Party?
” Umm, I don’t want to. I think better don’t. It’s kinda embarrassing. ”
” Huh… what do you feel embarrassed of?Just celebrate. And you can invite your friends. ”
” Dunno! What’s going on with you Siso? How can you say no? And you never celebrate it before. Just agree. ”
Caden mouth was like fried corn and scolded me. What? Who is older actually?
” Agreed! Agreed! Agreed! ” Suddenly my siblings expressed their agreement in unison .
I feel like crying too. Not because of touched but ashamed. There is no need for parties.
” So, what do you say Charlee? ”
I could only grin. Don’t know what else to say.
” I will just follow everything. ”
” Yeah!!!”
A thunderous applause echoed at the dining table. They’re being over.
