Peter Pan- Peter Pan, the character, is always remembered as the lovable scamp who whisks children off from their homes and into a magical world of adventure. What people seem to forget about is all the hard-core murder.
In the books written by J.M. Barrie, when Wendy first flies to Neverland, Tinkerbell convinces one of the Lost Boys, named Tootles, that she’s actually a bird that Peter wants killed, so he shoots Wendy with a bow and arrow, and she almost dies. Ashamed of his actions once he finds out the truth, Tootles begs Peter to kill him. These are children, mind you.
Also, at one point, the pirate Hook – a grown man in this universe – attempts to butcher Peter with his hook, and claws him badly. Peter lays on a rock as the tide comes in, waiting to either bleed to death, or drown. Again, Peter is a child. Just wanted to make that extra clear.

To preface: No, Peter Pan is not officially a fairy tale. But the story has become popular enough and many people do consider it to be a fairy tale, especially with the addition of its characters to the show Once Upon a Time. And generally, most people who have an affinity for fairy tales also tend to really like such classic fantasy stories such as Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland. Also, this book has multiple references to fairy tales in it.

I am not sure how many people have read the original play called Peter Pan or the boy who wouldn’t grow up, written by J.M. Barrie in 1904, but it is a far cry from the innocent tale presented by Walt Disney.
We know from the Disney film that Peter Pan doesn’t want to grow up, but no mention is made of the extreme lengths Peter Pan is prepared to go to fight it.
Consider this extract: “The boys on the island vary, of course, in numbers, according as they get killed and so on; and when they seem to be growing up, which is against the rules, Peter thins them out; but at this time there were six of them, counting the twins as two.“
To put it bluntly, Peter Pan kills the lost boys to keep them from aging. While the film presents the view that Peter Pan is seeking eternal youth, he is, in fact, obsessed with death. This characteristic is believed to come from J.M. Barrie’s own childhood experience of losing his brother, David.
According to an article in The Herald, six-year old Jamie Barrie was hugely impacted by the death of his older brother, David, at the age of fourteen. David was said to have died the day before his birthday when he was accidently knocked over by a friend while skating, and fractured his skull on the ice. The article speculates that the ‘friend’ was in fact, young Jamie and that he was rejected by his mother as a result of the accident.
And then there are the mermaid’s
In the original Peter Pan story, the mermaids who inhabit Neverland all live in the lagoon. They enjoy the company of Peter Pan but are malevolent to everyone else. The are extraordinarily beautiful and have amazing singing voices, but they are vain and unfriendly.
The mermaids spend their days playing in the rock pools and ocean around Marooners’ Rock and they retire to their coral cave homes beneath the waves at night and during high tide.
The mermaids change when the moon is out and transform into darker creatures. They utter and wail strange calls in the moonlight. Captain Hook is terrified of the mermaids, calling them the ‘loreleis’ and saying that the lagoon is the most treacherous place in Neverland. A lorelei is a siren of Germanic legend whose singing lures Rhine River boatmen to destruction on a reef.

In peter pan, hook is the actual good guy.
In the original version, Peter Pan was the only immortal. He would go back to earth to collect children, who, at the time of puberty, he would kill them. My theory is that the faeries, are actually pixies, who in the original myths were mischevious and evil creatures. The pixies made a deal with peter that they would give peter immortality as long as he killed children, but he didnt want to kill young children, so , in his messed up mind, a child who hit puberty was good enough. He tells the boys that they will also be immortal on the islan
Captain Hook is obviously not a pirate, he is a captain of a ship that found out about Peter and the Pixies sick plot and tried to stop it. But, he realized he would not defeat Peter anytime soon, so he contacted a magical Giant crocodile so he could himself get immortality. But, there was a catch. The croc needed a hand, and said that hook could not tell the children the truth until they joined his crew. He cut off his hand, gave the sacrafice, and replaced it with a hook. Peter eventually claimed he did it. Of course, since it was only hook who was immortal, he had to go and a new crew, who eventually looked like pirates, making peters job of keeping the boys away from hook much easier. Of course, he wont always suceed will he? Now, lets look at Wendy’s father. At the end of the disney movie, wendys father says he recognizes the ship. Obviously, he was once a lost boy, who went and joined hook, and hook decided it would be better to just get him away from the island than keep him there. His memory was somehow erased. Peter Pan decided to get his revenge and kidnap his children. Hook was trying to return the children the whole movie. The pirate contract let him return them. But peter pan defeated him, and decided to return the children anyway.
Also, Hook got lonely and sick of everyone in his crew either dying or leaving him, and he managed somehow to get smee immortal. Just cause I want smee to be immortal.
Peter Pan only has his powers because he kills the lost boys and hook is actually the good guy
Continueing on with the crocodile, part of the deal was that the croc would constantly be trying to end Hooks immortality.
