- Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 Before I Make You Regret It
The next day, the two men woke up in the middle of the living room. They had a bedsheet covering their ***** bodies. The sun’s rays shined through the large window, hitting their eyes. They woke up from the maddening ray of light hitting their eyes.
Mark let out a grunt as he tried to bury his face against Taekyung’s broad chest. Taekyung slowly opened his eyes and pressed a peck on Mark’s head. Mark hummed and slowly opened his eyes. Taekyung grabbed Mark’s hand, which was resting on his chest, and locked it with his. “Good morning,” he uttered. Mark let out another hum before saying, “morning.”
“Tired from last night?”
“How can I not be? You didn’t let me rest the entire night.” Taekyung chuckled. “I’m sorry about that, Mark.” Mark hummed and tried to bury his head against his chest again. Taekyung neared Mark’s hand closer to his lips and pressed a peck against his hand.
Mark slowly opened his eyes and made eye contact with Taekyung, who was inspecting the ring in his hand. He looked around and then asked, “why did you choose this place to propose?”Taekyung smiled and then responded, “because this is the place where we first met. I was living here with Caroline when you came to visit… Did you forget already?”
“How could I forget? I’ve liked you since that moment.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.” Taekyung leaned closer to Mark’s lips and pressed a sweet kiss against his lips. Taekyung caressed Mark’s cheek and separated from the kiss. “I love you,” he whispered. “I love you, too,” Mark whispered back. They both smiled and enveloped into another kiss.
Taekyung separated from the kiss and spoke, “we need to get ready.”
“Get ready for what?” Mark asked. “We’re going back to Miami.”
“What? Today?” Taekyung sat up after Mark. He ran his hand over Taekyung’s tattooed arm and let it rest over his shoulder. “There are some things I must take care of and you need to go back to work.”
“I don’t,” Mark responded, “I will quit, and I have you now. You will take care of me.” Taekyung chuckled. “Didn’t you once tell me you wanted to continue working?”
“Well, I’m allowed to change my mind.” Taekyung leaned closer to Mark’s lips and pressed a peck against his lips. He then stood up and walked over to the couch.
As Taekyung walked over to his clothes, Mark followed him with his eyes. He watched as Taekyung dressed and go the urge to comment, “I thought we could stay here a little longer. I was hoping we could use this time to spend it all by ourselves.”
Taekyung smiled and responded, “you don’t want to go back to Miami?”
“It’s not that. It’s just that I wish we could spend more time together.”
“Mark, we have the rest of our lives to be together. Whether it is here or in Miami or wherever you’d like.” Mark looked at the ring on his finger before looking back at Taekyung. “Is something bothering you?” Taekyung asked.
“It’s just that I want to spend more time alone with you and when we go back to Miami, I fear that we will not be able to be by ourselves… You know, we live at my mom’s house and all-.” Taekyung let out a soft chuckle, cutting off Mark’s comment.
“Why are you laughing? This is serious.”
“Is this you trying to tell me you want to move out?” Mark nodded. “But I don’t want to leave my mom alone in such a big house-.”
“I think it is time you moved out. The only reason Caroline lived there was because of the twins, but I’m guessing she feels the need to move out now. And the only reason I stayed there was because she asked me to. And then I got to know you better.”
“The only reason I stayed there was because you were there.” Taekyung stepped closer to Mark and crouched down. Now at eye level, Taekyung looked into Mark’s eyes and uttered, “we can move to anywhere in the world. Where do you want to move?”
Mark placed his hand over Taekyung’s. “You have not lived in Korea in a while and I have always wanted to live there.”
“Really?” Mark nodded as he slowly leaned in for a kiss. Taekyung kissed Mark’s lips and before he could get too wrapped in the kiss, he separated from the kiss and whispered, “you should get ready. We will be leaving in an hour.”
Back in Miami, Caroline had just ended a phone call with the principal from the twins’ preschool. She rubbed her aching temples from all the stress she had received just from work. She picked up her cellphone again and dialed her cousin’s phone number.
When Charles finally picked up his phone, Caroline spoke, “Chuck, are you busy right now? I need you to go to the twins’ preschool. Apparently, Mia got in trouble.”
“I don’t think I can go right now, cuz. I need to scare off the new recruits and there are some other things I have to do. You know, military stuff.” Caroline chuckled. “Well, isn’t your job entertaining.”
“I really wish I could help you, but I’m really swamped with work.”
“That is fine, Chuck. Thanks anyway.” Caroline hung up the call and stared at the stacks of documents she needed to sign or reject. She let out a sigh and stood up from her chair. She grabbed her designer handbag and made her way to the door.
When she opened the door, Joseph stood up from his chair. Caroline continued walking as she said, “clear my schedule. I will be taking the rest of the day off.”
“Ms. King, I don’t think-.” Caroline got in her elevator, completely ignoring her assistant. As she stood in the elevator made of glass, overlooking the city she put on her dark designer glasses as she descended from one of the tallest buildings in the city.
When the elevator arrived, she walked out of the elevator and made her way to the entrance of the building. She walked out of the building and stood next to the white Rolls Royce. Her chauffeur walked over to the door and opened it for her. He closed the door after Caroline had gone inside the car.
The chauffeur went to the driver’s seat and started the car. “Where to, Ms. King?” He asked. “The twins’ school. After you drop me off, get the Maserati.”
“Yes, Ms. King.” Caroline took off her dark sunglasses and opened her handbag to find her vibrating phone. She looked at the screen, which portrayed eight missed calls from her assistant. Then, she powered off her cellphone to stop her cell phone from getting calls.
When Caroline arrived at the twins’ preschool, she made her way to the principal’s office. She opened the door of the office and found Mia and Ian sitting at a chair next to a boy on one side of the office and the little boy’s mother sitting in front of the principal.
As soon as Caroline stepped into the office, the boy’s mother stood up. She glared at Caroline as she looked at her up and down. Caroline looked at the angry petite woman standing in front of her.
The woman wore a small-sized black ruffle dress under a jean jacket accompanied by some black pointed-toe flats. Her long hair in desperate need of care rested about her waist and her bangs covered her entire forehead. Her chubby cheeks were excessively colored in blush and her lips were dreadfully colored by raspberry pink lipstick.
The principal walked up to them and said, “Ms. King, thank you for coming.” Caroline looked at the principal and then at her little angels. “What happened?” She asked. The principal was about to respond when the other woman interrupted, “you need to teach your kids how to behave. They are like savages.”
Caroline glared at the woman. She then calmly spoke, “excuse me, it seems as if it is you who does not have any manners. I asked the principal and you should not be insulting children.”
“Ladies, please,” said the principal, “why don’t we seat down so we can converse like civilized people?” Caroline walked over to one of the chairs in front of the principal’s desk as the other woman did the same.
“I really don’t like to do this, but I cannot let this slide. Your children got involved in a fight and that will not be tolerated. I’m afraid your children will be expelled.” The woman let out a soft chuckle, making Caroline’s blood boil. “I don’t think you must go that far,” Caroline spoke, “they are just children. I am sure nothing serious happened.”
“Nothing serious? Look at my little boy. Look how those two savages left him.” Caroline looked over at the boy sitting next to Ian. His uniform was all out of place. His tie was nowhere to be found, his hair was all ruffled up, and his cheeks were blushed.
Caroline looked at the principal and asked, “what happened exactly?”
“What do you think happened? Your children decided to beat up my little baby.” Caroline decided to ignore the woman next to her and looked at the principal. “What happened?”
“Well, they have not exactly said anything. They said they would not talk until their lawyer was here.” Caroline instantly laughed. “I don’t think this is funny. Why are you laughing?” Uttered the woman.
Again, Caroline ignored the woman and looked at Mia. “Mia, could you tell us what happened?” Mia nodded. “We were outside playing, and Caleb stands behind me and lifts up my skirt… and then I hit him because mommy taught me to hit any boy that tries to lift my skirt. But he pulled my hair.”
Caroline looked at the woman as she raised her eyebrow. “My child did not do that. She is lying. Caleb, tell them what happened.” The little boy looked at Caroline and at the principal and then he said, “Mia punch me. I pull Mia hair. Ian punch me.”
“Did you lift up her skirt?” The little boy looked down, avoiding Caroline’s fierce expression while shyly shaking his head.
“Look at me. And tell me the truth.” The woman grabbed Caroline’s arm, making her look at her. “Don’t you dare raise your voice at my child.”
“I suggest you take your hand off me before I make you regret it.” The woman slowly let go of Caroline’s arm and then Caroline looked back at the boy. “Answer me, did you or did you not lift her skirt?”
The little boy looked at Caroline with tears streaming down his face and responded, “I did.” Caroline looked at Mia and uttered, “Mia, honey, could you show us how you hit him after he lifted up your skirt?”
Mia stood up from the chair and walked over to the boy. She stood in front of him and slapped him. Caroline smiled and then uttered, “could you do that again, I don’t think we saw.” Again, Mia slapped the little boy, leaving her fingers marked against his cheek.
“Mia, please do it again.” Mia was about to slap the boy again when the principal stopped her. “Let go of my child,” Caroline spoke as she stood up. The principal let go of Mia’s arm and looked at Caroline. “I apologized Ms. King, but I do not condone this type of behavior.”
“You don’t condole this, but you do condole boys lifting up girls’ skirts?”
“That is not what I meant, Ms. King.”
“Then, tell me why my children must be expelled after they defended themselves. Because what really happened was that Caleb lifted Mia’s skirt and she defended herself. By doing so, Caleb, here pulled her hair and then Ian, protecting his sister and taught Caleb a lesson.”
“Ms. King, I don’t think you should be teaching your children to be violent. Violence is never the answer.”
“You are right. I shouldn’t be teaching my children how to defend themselves, instead, I should teach them to become sex offenders.” Caroline looked at the woman that was still sitting when she was finishing her sentence. “Ms. King, I understand, but you know the rules-.”
“I don’t give a **** about the rules. Do I need to remind you I am the one that makes the rules?”
“Look, Miss, I don’t know who you think you are, but you shouldn’t talk to the principal like that,” interrupted the woman. “And you shouldn’t be a kiss ***. That will get you nowhere.” The woman stood up from the chair as she glared at Caroline.”I don’t think you know who my husband is. If you did, you wouldn’t be talking to me like this.” Caroline laughed, taking the woman by surprise. “Do you think I give a **** about who your husband is?” Just then, the door to the principal’s office opened.
