Kristen was trembling in fright. There seemed to be a thorn stuck in her throat. She could not swallow it down or spit it out. She felt uncomfortable.
In the court, the public gallery was filled with people. Darin’s relatives who had never gathered together before all came today. There were all kinds of expressions on their faces. Kristen glanced at them in a hurry, only to see sarcastic expressions on their faces.
Aden, who was sitting near the front, saw Kristen come in. With fierce and resentful eyes, he stood up and rushed over to slap Kristen.
Aden slapped Kristen so hard that she was forced to turn her head. There was ringing in her right ear. She was still lost in her thought.
“Kristen, where have you been these past four days? How could you still dare to come here now? You are the one who harmed Dad! Mom died because of you. Now you are coming for my dad!”
The slap attracted everyone’s attention. They stared at Kristen, leaving her nowhere to hide.
Kristen felt that their eyes had turned into knives that wanted to skin her and tear her apart.
Aden’s eyes were red and his face twisted as he shouted, “You fucking bitch! Mom shouldn’t have given birth to you back then. Even if you were born, I should have asked Dad to drown you! Kristen, you have taken everything away from me!”
Aden said those vicious words to Kristen. Kristen’s mind went blank and her eyes lost focus. Then she stared at Aden’s fierce face.
Seeing that Aden was about to slap Kristen again, Marco held Kristen’s waist and avoided his slap. “You’ll pay for it if you hurt her.”
Marco had a smile on his face. The smile was originally a gentle expression, but when it appeared on his face, it was very gloomy.
Aden was a person who was afraid of the strong. He had the guts to hit Kristen but did not dare to provoke Marco.
He glared at Kristen with hatred, as if the person in front of him was not his sister, but his enemy.
Marco dragged Kristen, who was in a daze, to sit in the front row, where they could watch the trial more conveniently. Kristen clenched her fists. Her nails dug into her flesh and her heart ached. She knew that it was just the beginning.
The judges took their seats one after another. Darin was escorted in. When he saw Kristen, his eyes flashed with hope. He shouted desperately, “Kristen, my daughter, you must save me. I’m innocent. I was cheated…”
The judge seriously banged the gavel. “Silence!”
The court was instantly silent, and only the sound of the judge flipping through the paper on the table could be heard.
Kristen did not know what happened after that and what she said. It was as if her soul had left her body. She stared at Darin blankly.
