Antonio hurried into the operating room, his clothes in a mess. He asked, “How is the situation?”
“Blood oxygen saturation has dropped. The patient has fallen into a coma. The heartbeat has stopped. The situation is dangerous.” The more dangerous the moment, the more one had to remain calm.
Kristen’s face was already pale with her lips turning dark, Antonio could not feel her pulse and could not hear her heartbeats.
“Electro-cardiological rescue,” Antonio said.
Antonio gasped in pain. He had never seen such a weak Kristen. If he had cared more about her, she might not have become like this.
Sadness slowly spread out from the bottom of his heart, like a drop of ink into colorless pure water, and then slowly dyed it black.
In the long rescue, Kristen’s heartbeat gradually came back. It was like a momentary recovery of consciousness just before death, and she opened her eyes a crack in the process.
The oxygen mask on her face was covered with a layer of mist. Her vision was hazy, which evoked her subconscious fear. When Kristen glanced at Antonio, she felt a little relieved. She wanted to talk to him, but she had no strength.
The pain deprived her of her freedom and she could not even move her fingers.
Antonio found Kristen awake and immediately held her cold hand. He said, “Kristen, can you hear my voice? You will be fine. Don’t give up! Think about those who care about you. Don’t you like the violin? I will take you to the concert when you are discharged.”
Kristen’s eyes overflowed with tears. Antonio knew that she had listened to him.
Kristen tried hard to make a sound, “Antonio…”
Kristen was too weak and the sound was so small that it was almost inaudible. Antonio leaned his ear over and only vaguely heard her say, “I am in pain…”
Antonio gritted his teeth and suppressed the sadness. With reddened eyes, Antonio wiped away the tears on Kristen’s temples. He comforted, “It won’t hurt if you hold on for a while. You’ve always been strong.”
Kristen blinked her eyes. Her vision became more and more blurry. Everything she saw was a double image. She opened her mouth and tried to breathe like a stranded fish. She gave a weak smile and said in a hoarse voice, “Don’t tell Marco about my illness.”
Kristen still thought of Marco even though she was in danger. People like Marco should live in guilt for the rest of their lives. They would live in guilt day and night without peace.
Antonio sobbed and replied, “Okay, I promise you.”
Kristen looked at the operating headlamp above and closed her eyes slowly.
There were all kinds of instruments on Kristen’s thin body, with tubes inserted. She needed to have her stomach washed before the operation. When Antonio saw the things that had not been digested in her stomach, his eyes were wet.
Her stomach was filled with paper pulp, which meant that Kristen had eaten toilet paper.
How could she eat that kind of thing?
Antonio instantly thought of Marco outside the operating room.
Antonio gritted his teeth hard to suppress the anger.
The operation was not successful. It only managed to save Kristen’s breath and she could die at any time.
Kristen was transferred to the intensive care unit to check.
If Kristen did not recover in 48 hours, she would be in danger again.
The operating room door opened and Antonio walked out. He took off his mask and looked at Marco sharply.
Marco tried to walk over and ask Kristen’s situation, but his feet seemed to become extremely heavy as if they were filled with lead. Marco couldn’t even walk a step.
Antonio walked up to him. Marco asked in a heavy voice, “How is she?”
Antonio suddenly exerted all of his strength to punch Marco in the face. Marco staggered back a few steps.
Marco tilted his head, his hands clenched into fists as he repeated, “How is Kristen?”
“Thanks to you, Kristen was saved. She only lost half of her life and was about to die.” Antonio ridiculed.
Antonio’s words were like a steel needle piercing through Marco’s throat and his vision turned black, which made him could not even breathe smoothly.
Antonio looked at the pained expression on Marco’s face and mocked, “You caused the result. How can you be so shameless to look painful? Stop acting in front of me! Kristen won’t bother you anymore. You should go and care about the people you should care about.”
