Marco felt a chill down his spine. He froze in place with eyes widened. He felt like his heart was pinched by someone.
Marco’s eyes were red. His gaze was fixed on the blood-red water. Was that the residue in Kristen’s stomach? The toilet paper that had not yet been digested? The toilet paper was stained with her blood?
“Why would she eat this kind of thing…”
Antonio looked at him with tears. “I also want to ask you what you did to her? Why would she eat toilet paper?!”
It was him who locked her in the bedroom for four days. She was hungry and had no choice but to eat toilet paper. Marco had a slight stomach condition. He knew how miserable it was. Kristen had stomach cancer! She must be even miserable.
Marco was like a drowning man. He tried to struggle but found it in vain. He reached out and grabbed the plastic washbasin. His joints turned white and the veins on the back of his hand bulged out because he exerted too much strength.
“I … I didn’t know … she had stomach problems… I didn’t know it would be so serious…” If he knew, he would not lock her in the bedroom and starve her for four days.
Marco lowered his head and looked at the blood in the basin. The thick smell of blood was hard to get rid of. He shed tears. The blood in the basin splashed a little and quickly returned to normal.
For a time, there was only the sound of Marco’s breathing in the air. It was heavy and depressing. Antonio did not sympathize with him. On the contrary, he hated him. It was him who had harmed Kristen. Kristen used to be happy and healthy, but now she was hurt badly!
Antonio’s eyes were as sharp as a knife. Marco did not dare to look directly at him. Marco looked at the blood in front of him and he could not help but wonder how Kristen stuffed the paper into her mouth and swallowed it.
He didn’t dare to imagine how Kristen survived those four days. He knew that this woman was afraid of pain.
Marco seemed to have lost his soul. He looked around in a daze, trying to find Kristen.
“Kristen is in the ICU. You can have a look and leave. If you really feel guilty, then divorce her. Don’t cling to her anymore.”
Marco finally reacted. He put down the washbasin in his hand and looked at Antonio. “Kristen is my wife and she will always be my wife. I will not divorce her.”
He would make up for her. Marco suddenly knew his feelings for Kristen. It was not love, but guilt and possessiveness.
“Even if she dies, she is still my wife.”
Marco did not intend to let Kristen go. Kristen was lying in the intensive care unit and was not out of danger. Thinking about this, Antonio could not help but get angry.
He rushed up, in an attempt to punch Marco’s disgusting face, but before he could touch him, he was stopped by the medical staff on the side.
“Dr. Balan, calm down. This is the hospital. There were all kinds of equipment in the operating room. I don’t care he is fine or not, but don’t break the medical equipment brought from abroad.”
Antonio took a deep breath and said through gritted teeth. “Marco, you bastard. Kristen is reduced to this situation. Do you still think it is not enough?”
“That is also a matter between me and her. An outsider like you can’t point fingers at us.”
Antonio had never seen such a shameless person like Marco. He felt that using the word “bastard” to describe him was an insult to this word.
The doctor who stopped Antonio looked at Antonio’s ashen face and was a little surprised. Those who were familiar with Antonio knew that Antonio was kind and gentle. He was like a sheep. He had never seen Antonio get angry in the hospital. It was really strange for Antonio to lose his temper.
