“Yes, he did. He signed the agreement on surgery and notice of the critical condition for you.”
“Can you help me fake a medical report to hide it from him?” Perhaps she had been asleep for too long, her voice was so hoarse it was almost inaudible, but Antonio understood what she meant.
Antonio frowned in confusion. “Since you like him, why don’t you tell him about your illness and explain it to him?”
“I don’t want to tell him because I like him.”
“Don’t you want him to care more about you?”
Kristen shook her head and suppressed the bitterness in her heart. She didn’t think that Marco would feel sorry for her when he knew that she was about to die. On the contrary, she thought he might even set off a few fireworks to celebrate that he finally got rid of her.
Moreover, even if he was distressed, it was because of her illness. He might pity her as he found that she was about to die. There were no other emotions at all.
As the daughter of the Lawrence family, she didn’t need his pity.
“He and I are going to divorce anyway. Whether he cares about me is not important. Besides, I am going to die. It is better to pass away quietly.” Kristen slowly closed her eyes, her expression calm.
Kristen’s words touched a very raw nerve of Antonio. He said, “It won’t happen. We are currently researching a special medicine for stomach cancer. The terminal illness you think is just a small problem in the eyes of the researchers. You will be fine once the researchers succeeded.”
Kristen’s lips moved slightly and she said, “Antonio, I don’t care about life and death. I even feel that it’s good to die. It can be considered a relief. Even if I die, I might have to trouble you to donate all my organs. After that, please cremate my body and spread the ashes into the sea with the wind.”
“What nonsense are you talking about?” Antonio looked at her without blinking.
Kristen smiled. “I’m not talking nonsense. I was trapped in the Lawrence’s for my whole life and did not have a chance to go out for a trip. I just wanted to follow the sea waves and see more of the outside world after I died.”
Tears streamed down Kristen’s eyes. Antonio took out a piece of paper and wiped her tears. “Cherish your life and don’t talk nonsense. If you want to go out and take a look, I will take a leave to travel around the world together with you. I will help you hide your illness from Marco, but if he knows that you cheat him, he may…”
“Well, I’m already used to it.”
“What do you mean?” Antonio asked with a frown.
Only then did Kristen realize that she had said something that she should not have said. She quickly changed the topic, “Go and do your work. I’m fine here. Just leave a nurse here.”
Seeing that she did not want to say more, Antonio stopped trying to ask. He left a nurse here and told the nurse what she should pay attention to. He then turned and left the ward.
Kristen had an operation, so she could not sit up for the time being. She looked out through the window.
Getting used to it didn’t mean that it didn’t hurt. Marco had broken her heart. She could recover from external injuries after applying for some medicine. However, just thinking about the painful memory was heartbreaking.
Marco stood at the smoking area, smoking. The cigarette butts in the cigarette slots had already piled up. It was unknown if they were all left by him.
The white light on the corridor shone on Marco’s face. He looked as cold as before. Hearing the sound of movement behind him, Marco extinguished the cigarette in his hand and turned around. It was Antonio coming over.
He flicked the dust off his clothes and walked straight over. “How is Kristen?”
He said in a cold tone as if he was not the one who was so sad outside the operation room two days ago.
Antonio mocked, “As long as you don’t go in and anger her, she can live longer.”
