Kristen’s tear fell on Marco’s finger. It was warm, but he withdrew his hand as if he had been scalded.
He looked away unnaturally and found that the back of Kristen’s hand was bleeding.
Marco pressed the bell on the wall and turned around coldly, “I’m going back. Stay in the hospital alone. I’ll take you to the court next Wednesday.”
Kristen looked at his back and said, “Marco, I always thought that you were not a person who went back on your words.” She was saying a statement, but her voice was trembling with hesitation.
Marco did not turn back to look at her. When he opened the door and walked out of the ward, he said lightly, “Do you need me to remind you that I lied to the priest?”
Kristen felt as if all the bones in her body had been removed. She lay weakly on the bed. Tears flowed down from the corners of her eyes and wet the pillow. She finally realized the truth in great pain.
Kristen and Marco’s marriage had also caused a stir. After all, the two families were influential. Their marriage involved two companies with market values of tens of millions. In addition to the wedding contract, the wedding ceremony was also very important.
They held a simple wedding in front of the media. The priest in front of the hall asked solemnly, “Mr. Latham, will you love, honor, comfort, and cherish Ms. Lawrence from this day forward, through the best and the worst, through the difficult and the easy, for as long as you both shall live?”
Marco, dressed in a black suit, stood across from Kristen and said, “I do.”
Their marriage started from a lie, then how could Marco be faithful to her?
Kristen cried silently. Only her body was trembling and made the wound on her body extremely painful.
She looked at the needle on her left hand, pulled it out, and threw it on the ground as if it would make her feel better. The pole with the potion hung on it made a huge sound because of her movements.
The needle completely penetrated the back of Kristen’s hand, and her blood flowed down like water, soaking the entire back of her hand in a short while.
It hurt a lot, but it hurt even more in Kristen’s heart.
This was the first time Kristen hated her memory of Marco so much. She put Marco in her heart for sixteen years and approached him recklessly like a moth darting into a flame. She chased after Marco and shamelessly said that she liked him and finally married him like a fool.
It was only a show from the beginning to the end, and she was the only one who had truly fallen into it and become a tragic character.
Now that she had gone bankrupt, and everyone was watching her make a fool of herself. Perhaps those who were mocking her right now had already known the result a step earlier than her. Only a fool like her would take so long to realize how humiliating she had been to love Marco for sixteen years.
Marco walked out of the ward and did not leave immediately. He stood at the door and leaned against the cold wall, listening to the sobs coming from the room.
Kristen’s suppressed cry was like a sharp blade piercing through his eardrums, and he involuntarily clenched his fists.
He hated Kristen, but why was he so angry when he heard her say divorcing him?
Why?
Marco explained to himself.
He did not care about Kristen. He was just being possessive like every man would be. He didn’t want to divorce Kristen because he wanted to better control and torture this hypocritical woman. Their marriage would be a string that could tie her to his side like a kite!
Marco lowered his eyes. He was no longer angry or anxious. The viciousness in his eyes disappeared. His dark eyes were perfectly calm.
Marco stayed for a while and saw the nurse coming. He loosened his clenched fist and left.
