After Antonio left, Kristen asked Adele to take her to the restroom.
Kristen kept staring blankly at the withered ginkgo tree outside the window.
Seeing this, Adele said, “Ms. Lawrence, do you want to watch TV?”
Kristen was staying in a VIP single room that was fully equipped. The TV was connected to the internet so that Kristen could watch anything she wanted. However, Kristen had never turned it on.
Kristen nodded. “Turn it on.”
Adele happily took the remote control and turned on the TV. Just as she was looking for the latest popular TV series, coincidentally, a notification of the top search popped up.
“Marco Latham, the president of the Latham Group, met his first girlfriend at midnight. Is he going to divorce Kristen Lawrence?”
Adele was a little embarrassed and was about to press the return button when Kristen, who was lying in bed, reached out to stop her.
“Take a look at that top search.”
“O…OK.”
It was a blurry video. Two people were holding hands in the parking lot and acting intimately. Kristen’s gaze fixed on Marco’s blurry face. A pair of deep eyes appeared in her mind as if he was looking at her coldly and mockingly.
Kristen watched quietly but didn’t feel influenced. After all, she had seen way more than this.
However, what was hilarious was that he had refused the divorce last week. But in the blink of an eye, he was photographed being intimate with Brenda at midnight. It was uploaded to the internet and had become the top search.
Kristen had always been uncertain about Marco. He hated her but he did not divorce her. He loved Brenda but he seemed not planning to marry her. What a typical two-timer!
Felt a headache coming on, so Kristen massaged her temples and told Adele, “I want to watch a TV drama.”
Adele was relieved. After selecting a TV drama, she carefully looked back at Kristen with doubt.
She was outspoken. The mood in the ward was subdued, so she couldn’t help but comfort Kristen.
“Don’t trust the things on the internet. Most of the news is fake.”
Kristen snorted. Those things were untrustworthy but this one was true.
She took a light breath and suppressed the pain in her heart.
What they were watching was a funny family drama which was very popular recently. Adele could not help but laugh as she watched from the aside. It was quite a while before she finally realized and turned her head to Kristen and said apologetically, “Ms. Lawrence, did I disturb you?”
“No, I was watching it too. It is quite funny.” In fact, Kristen didn’t even take a look.
Adele heaved a sigh of relief. She looked at the time which was already 1:30 pm. Usually, patients would take a nap at this time. She asked, “Ms. Lawrence, do you want to take a break? Shall I turn off the TV?”
“There’s no need to turn it off. It’s livelier like this.” Once it was turned off, the whole ward would be in dead silence. This silence was different from that at home. It was scary as if she was the only one left throughout the whole world.
Adele felt that Kristen was a good woman. It was a pity Marco did not cherish her.
Whether Kristen had been the third woman between Marco and Brenda, Marco should be responsible to her since they had got married. Without divorcing Kristen, he hung out with his ex-girlfriend, so he was cheating on Kristen! But now the people on the internet all praised Marco for being a good man! How ridiculous!
