Marco held Kristen’s cold hand. He slowly applied the medicine to her wound. This was the first time for Marco to treat someone so carefully.
If anyone who knew him saw this, he would be shocked. Who was Marco? An arrogant and conceited man! Would such a man kneel in front of a woman to apply medicine for her? Moreover, the woman was the one he hated the most.
Marco did not realize what he was doing at all. Kristen also seemed to have lost her mind. Only Adele saw that Kristen was sitting and Marco was kneeling. They were fighting back then, but now they were so close as if no one could get between them.
There was news online that Marco and Kristen’s nominal relationship was broken, but it did not seem like it was the case at all.
Sure enough… online rumors could not be trusted.
Marco had never served anyone before, not to mention this. The medicine was applied and the gauze wrapped around the wound.
Marco was afraid that Kristen would fall like before, so he fastened the seat belt for her before pushing the wheelchair.
Adele stood at the back and hesitated for a moment. She took two steps forward and looked at their backs. She then turned to look for Antonio.
The 30-minute drive was extremely long for Kristen. All sorts of images appeared in her mind. Kristen and Darin had fought many times. In the old photo, Darin was holding her with a smile…
These memories were so vague that they were like soap bubbles that one would break with a poke. But thanks to them, Kristen forgot about the bloody face in the video.
Kristen curled up in the passenger seat, leaning to her right and looking down. Her long hair spread all over the seat.
At this time, Kristen was so fragile, like a cracked crystal doll. One would need to treat her with utmost care so as not to shatter her.
Marco then called Bob. Darin’s body had been transferred to the police station.
Following the navigation, Marco parked the car outside. Kristen seemed to have lost her mind. She stared at the ground blankly.
Marco got out of the car and unbuckled Kristen’s seat belt. She did not cry or make a fuss, different from the crazy woman who had bitten him before. However, this was much more to take or handle for Marco.
Marco bent over and gently picked Kristen up. The woman in his arms was like an injured cat, obedient and pitiful. Marco placed her in the wheelchair.
Bob was waiting at the door. When he saw Marco pushing Kristen’s wheelchair, he immediately ran over to give him a hand. “Mr. Latham, please let me.”
Marco dodged and did not speak. He only looked at Bob coldly.
Bob immediately stopped his actions and stood stiffly to the side.
Bob realized later and scratched the back of his head awkwardly. He thought to himself, “Although Mr. Latham always says he doesn’t care about Kristen, his behavior shows the opposite.”
Bob went in to lead the way. Darin’s corpse looked a little scary. The police were worried it would scare people, so they put it in a room that other people rarely came.
There were police officers guarding the room. Kristen looked at the tightly closed door in front of her. She was in a daze for a moment. Kristen looked at the police officer beside her timidly and asked, “Is my dad inside? How is he now? Is his injury serious?”
The policeman lowered his head and looked at Kristen. His throat seemed to be stuffed with cotton and he couldn’t speak.
Kristen’s eyes were filled with confusion. She seemed to be puzzled about why he did not speak. “My dad is Darin Lawrence. Is he inside? He is going to the court for a second trial today.”
It was strange enough. Darin was going to the court for a second trial today. There was enough evidence to prove that he was innocent. He would not be shot.
Since the court wouldn’t sentence him to death, why would he commit suicide by jumping off the building?
Kristen thought Darin was just angry that she took the life of his beloved woman as soon as she was born. Darin hated that Kristen took over the Lawrence family and ignored him for those four days, so he made up this story to deceive her.
When one was struck by a violent blow and fell into fear, his body would automatically trigger the protection mechanism. Kristen was like a turtle in a hard shell, not knowing what to do. She would doubt the reality, thinking that this was all an illusion. As long as she woke up, the nightmare would be gone.
