The painting placed on top of a pile of waste was similar to a “decorative painting.” Marco turned the painting over and was stunned when he saw it.
That was not a decorative painting. It was a wedding photo of Marco and Kristen.
He had some impression of this photo, but he remembered breaking it. He also let Kristen take it out and throw it away. How could it appear here unharmed?
Did she secretly frame and hide it after that? Since she had hidden it for four years, why was she now throwing it together with a pile of waste?
Marco found it hard to express his feelings now. He had always denied Kristen’s change in feelings for him during this time. But now that he saw this abandoned marriage photo, he had to admit that Kristen had really given up on her.
In the past, he had always scolded Kristen for being cheap. He was confident that Kristen would be cheap like this. He never thought that Kristen would stop loving him one day. However, this day really came without warning.
Marco gripped the photo frame in his hand tightly, his knuckles turning pale.
When Kristen came out, she saw Marco standing in front of the pile of waste. When she got closer, she saw the thing in Marco’s hand. It was their wedding photo.
Kristen said, “I didn’t want to throw it in the past, but now I have no place to put it. I have to move. I’m really tired of looking at these fake things. Our marriage is just a joke. The photo will bring up bad memories.”
“So you want to throw it now?” Marco’s already malicious eyes became even colder. Anger gradually flashed across his eye.
“Why should I keep it? Isn’t it disgusting? Don’t you hate it too?”
“Hate it too?” Yes, Marco didn’t like it. He didn’t like Kristen, and he didn’t like this wedding photo either. Just like what Kristen said, it would bring up many bad memories. It should have been thrown away a long time ago and shouldn’t have been kept until now.
The two of them confronted each other silently, and the atmosphere was a little stiff. Fortunately, there was a knock on the door.
Kristen went to open the door. This time, it was the old man who collected trash. The old man was holding a rope and pulling a cart.
“Girl, where is the trash you don’t want?”
“It’s inside. Sir, please come in first.” Kristen moved aside to allow the man to pull the cart into the door.
“I’ll help you get the rope.”
The old man waved his hand. “No need. I can do it alone. I’m a little dirty. Don’t blame me.”
The people living here were all rich people. The old man collected waste for a living, so he was dirty. Every time he collected waste, he would meet some disdainful eyes. This time, there wasn’t. The girl was beautiful and kind, and she was very polite to him.
Kristen asked the old man to go in and served him a glass of warm water. After drinking the water, the man began to work. Looking at the pile of scraps, the old man’s eyes lit up. This was worth a lot of money.
“Don’t you want all these?” The old man asked Marco.
Marco looked slightly angry, but he didn’t say anything. Kristen, who was at the side, replied, “Yes, that’s all for the time being. I’ll call you when I move later.”
The old man responded with an “OK” and sorted out the scrap. Just as he was about to pick up the wedding photo, Marco, who had been standing at the side silently, suddenly spoke.
“Leave the wedding photo behind.”
Kristen was helping to tidy up the trash. When she heard this, she raised her head and looked at Marco. Marco was a little uncomfortable with her gaze. Naturally, there was no reason for him to take back what he had said. Even he did not know why he wanted to keep that photo behind, but now he had to find a reason.
“We haven’t divorced yet. We should have a wedding photo at home.”
Kristen immediately interrupted him. “We didn’t have one before. Why should we have one now?”
Marco’s face turned cold. “Kristen, do you need me to remind you of what I told you in the hospital?”
Kristen had a faint smile on her lips. She bent down and picked up the wedding photo on the ground, carefully placing it on the coffee table.
She remembered everything Marco said, and she placed it very clearly. He asked her to be good. Okay, she would be good then.
The old man quickly picked up the scraps and pulled them out one by one. Kristen took the broom and swept the floor. She was wearing a loose T-shirt today. When she bent down, the collar fell loose, revealing two protruding clavicles.
It seemed that Kristen hadn’t recovered yet. It had just been a few minutes, she had got cold sweat on her face.
