Marco did not help. He just kept staring at Kristen and watched as she was busy with these things. In the end, Kristen’s stomach could not take it anymore. She returned to the bedroom, opened the drawer, took out two bottles of medicine, and ate one pill from each.
“What kind of medicine did you take?” Marco asked. He had seen this medicine in the glass container in the drawer before. Although he was curious, he had never asked.
Kristen said calmly, “It’s for my stomach. My doctor prescribed them.”
Marco did not ask anymore. He knew that she had stomach problems.
After a pause, Marco said, “Since you haven’t recovered, don’t think about moving for now.”
“I’m moving not because I wanted to, but because I was short of money and urgently needed to sell this house. Marco, you should know better than anyone why I was short of money.” If Marco had cared a little about their marriage and left her a path, she would not be having such a difficult time.
“How much are you going to sell this house for?”
“I paid 1.1 million dollars in full when I bought it. Now, I’ll sell it for one million.” The current housing price was much higher than three years ago. She could have sold it for 1.6 million. It only took time.
What Kristen lacked was time. She did not have the time to wait.
Marco crossed his arms. His sharp eyes made others not dare to look straight at him. After a while, he said to Kristen, “I’ll buy the house. Just treat it as a joint property of us two as a couple.”
“You want to buy it?” Kristen soon realized it. “Sure, as long as you give me the money, the house is yours.”
Marco took out a cigarette pack from his pocket and lit one up. He put it in his hand and played with it. The orange-red light looked very bright in the shadow.
Marco was not addicted to smoking. He would smoke when he had something troubling him. Marco held a cigarette in his mouth and took out a bank card from his wallet.
“There is one million in it.”
Kristen walked over to take the bank card. “I will get a lawyer to transfer the property as soon as possible.”
Kristen was not used to the smell of cigarettes. In the past, when she was talking about business, she would inevitably meet people who liked to smoke. At that time, she could still endure, but now that she had stomach cancer, she would feel sick when she smelled smoke.
Marco obviously noticed that she did not like the smell of cigarettes. He left the room. “You don’t need to move. You can stay. By the way, Brenda will move in later.”
“Brenda will move here?” Marco wasn’t discussing it with her. Kristen didn’t want to ask why, but she suddenly had a disgusting thought.
Could it be that Marco did not divorce her because he wanted to have both her and Brenda?
Kristen frowned as he smiled. “Sure, as long as you are happy.”
Marco came back today to tell Kristen about this. Yesterday, Brenda asked him about the divorce. After knowing that he would not divorce, Brenda proposed to live with him. Even if Kristen was by her side, she would not mind. Marco could only say yes.
But Marco did not expect Kristen to agree so readily. She wasn’t like this before. Kristen was irritable. After taking over the Lawrence Group for so many years, she was used to being domineering. She was proud and she seldom bowed to others. There was no way that she would live under the same roof as Brenda’s “rival in love”.
Marco couldn’t tell whether Kristen was happy or not. He moved his lips and explained, “Don’t overthink it. She is here to take care of you.”
Kristen could not control her emotions. Her eyes were filled with contempt and ridicule. Brenda was so weak that she often felt dizzy because of anemia. How could Brenda take care of her?
Kristen had known what kind of woman Brenda was four years ago. Kristen did not have a good impression of that kind of woman. However, if Marco wanted Brenda to move in, then Kristen could only accept it.
Kristen was much more relieved since she didn’t have to move anymore. She put the things she had packed in the morning back to their original position. Just as she was about to throw the dispensable wedding photo into the storeroom, Marco came over and took the wedding photo from her. He looked at it thoughtfully and said, “Hang the photo on the bedside of the bedroom. I’ll go find the nails.”
Without asking Kristen if she agreed or not, Marco went straight to the bedroom and began to choose where to hang it.
Kristen leaned against the wall and watched as Marco worked on all these things. “Marco, aren’t you afraid that Brenda will make a scene when she sees this wedding photo?”
Marco did not seem to care. He was still working on the nails. He turned his back to Kristen and said, “Brenda is not like you.”
Kristen sneered. He could not help but say harshly, “Then she is really generous. She can tolerate the man she likes to be with another woman all day long.” It was hard to tell whether Kristen was mocking Brenda or herself.
As she spoke, she changed her tone and said, “I am indeed different from her. Brenda still loves you. I don’t.”
No one wanted to torture herself by loving a playboy.
