“Okay, you can work.” Marco breathed a sigh of relief. “But you need to prepare breakfast and dinner every day. Cook my favorite dishes, just like before.”
Kristen had known that there would be a condition. She said, “What if I say no?”
“Then don’t even think of your work.” Marco knew that Kristen had a rebellious heart now, so it took time to make her an obedient girl.
“You know, I can do it.”
Marco didn’t care about the law. So, from a certain point of view, he wasn’t joking. Unless he was bankrupt like her. But it was almost impossible.
“Can’t you just ask Brenda to cook for you? I could tell that her words were all pleasant for you to hear last time. Why didn’t you let her cook?”
Marco said indifferently, “I need to eat something new. Just prepare it. I’ll lock you here until you die if you dare to cook like last time.”
Even though she was already on the verge of death, she would be mad if she couldn’t leave the house.
Kristen mocked, “You are really picky.”
“Yes, or no?” Marco emphasized.
“Yes.” As long as she could go out, it was okay with her to cook. Besides, since he even got sick of the dishes Brenda cooked, he would get sick with the ones she did soon.
Kristen was still hopeful. As long as she was alive, she would always look forward to the future.
When they reached Band City, Marco carried Kristen out after pulling up in the parking lot.
Kristen was greeted by breakfast all over the floor of the living room when she came in. She knew it must be because of Marco’s anger.
Because of her injured knees, she limped her way. But Marco wouldn’t clean it up. The glass and blood on the floor of the bedroom were still there.
So, Kristen limped to get the phone, about to call the cleaner downstairs. But Marco, who had just changed his clothes, asked her, “Who are you calling?”
He eyed her as she had cheated on him. Kristen was disgusted by them and explained, “The house is too dirty. We need a cleaner.”
“I’ve already hired the nanny. She’ll be here soon.”
Kristen immediately hung up the phone.
She sat on the sofa for a while, with her eyes staring at a book. At four o’clock in the afternoon, the nanny arrived.
She was in her forties. Kristen always studied every visitor in this house. She found this woman looked nothing unusual, except for her gaze … Kristen felt that the nanny was looking at her with ill intentions. Perhaps it was an illusion.
“Hello, Mr. Latham, Ms. Lawrence.”
Marco nodded, “Jade, you will live in the nanny room on the first floor from now on. You just need to do the cleaning and prepare lunch.”
Jade was an experienced nanny who had worked for many years, so she was surprised when hearing that. She didn’t need to make breakfast and dinner?
“Then who will prepare breakfast and dinner?”
“Someone will do it. You just need to help out.” When Marco said this, he looked at Kristen. Of course, Jade understood it.
She nodded with a smile and said okay.
Jade carried her luggage to the nanny room. After a simple tidy-up, she came out to clean up from downstairs to upstairs. Fortunately, the villa was not big, or it would be hard work.
“I want to go upstairs.” Kristen looked at Marco and raised her knees wrapped in gauze.
“You didn’t ask for help…” but he still bent over and picked Kristen up.
Marco was a typical man with broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and long legs. She felt safe leaning against him.
Kristen began to hunt for a job after finding her phone upstairs. Putting aside her identity as the former president of the Lawrence Group, she could still easily find a job with her high level of education.
Kristen browsed several companies. Given that she worked only to kill time, she didn’t care about the salary. She made a resume and sent it to several companies with a good working environment and a few tasks.
Marco watched all of this. He took out his phone and sent a text message to Bob after seeing these companies. No company in Ratna City would offer Kristen a position.
But Kristen did not know about this.
After doing all of this, Kristen found it was already six o’clock.
“Go and cook.”
Kristen was shocked. She followed the voice and found it was Marco. He was sitting on the sofa with his hand on the armrest. His sleeves were lifted to reveal his strong arms. Obviously, he had been sitting here for a long time. But she concentrated on her resume so much that she didn’t notice someone was in the room.
“Why are you still here? Aren’t you going to visit Brenda in the hospital?” Kristen didn’t want to see him here.
