Things had no common with what Brenda planned. Marco didn’t come back home till now, which made Brenda a little anxious. She wanted to push Kristen down the stairs right now.
As was known, a pregnant woman could be very fragile. So she had a chance to lose a lot of blood if she fell.
This vicious thought hovered over Brenda’s mind.
At this time, there came the sound of a car engine parking outside the door. Kristen was stunned and wondered why Marco would come back at noon.
Kristen couldn’t go to the orphanage as Marco came back. She felt a sense of loss, accompanied by a feeling of uneasiness.
But she was good at adapting. She determined to return to her bedroom to spare herself from Brenda. However, when Kristen was about to turn around, her wrist was suddenly grabbed.
Kristen turned her head only to see Brenda’s aggressive eyes.
“Brenda, enough!” Kristen had suffered a loss before, so she was cautious with Brenda. Brenda looked as good-natured as a rabbit, but she always planned something behind.
Kristen knew nothing good would happen the moment she got close to Brenda, so she kept avoiding seeing Brenda. Now Brenda suddenly got close to her, Kristen was worried. Kristen would go to have an abortion in two days, so no mistake was allowed.
It was very dangerous to have an argument on the stairs. It got worse to bicker with Brenda who had ill intentions, which could result in a fall from the stairs.
At this time, Marco had already entered the door. Kristen took steps back but Brenda held Kristen so tightly that Kristen was incapable of freeing herself.
Brenda suddenly moved closer and whispered in Kristen’s ear, “Kristen, no one knows about the bastard in your belly, right?”
Something flashed through Kristen’s mind. Before she could figure out what it was, she saw Brenda pull her hand and fall backward.
Kristen quickly grabbed the railing of the stairs, but Brenda suddenly let go of Kristen’s hand. At last, Brenda lost her balance and rolled down the stairs.
“Brenda!”
Kristen followed the voice and saw Marco coming in with a gloomy face. He rushed to Brenda and picked her up from the ground.
Kristen, who was upstairs, could not tell Brenda’s condition. She could only see Marco looking up with aggressive eyes on a gloomy face, which sent shivers down Kristen’s spine.
“So that’s what Brenda planned…” Kristen started realizing that she had underestimated Brenda. Brenda literally had nothing to fear as she could fake the car accident and swallow sleeping pills to commit suicide years ago.
Kristen turned to look at the monitor behind her and thought, “The monitor could prove my innocence. Marco could not wrong me.”
But she could not be sure. When Brenda committed suicide, she got Marco to wrong Kristen with a few words.
…
Marco had promised Brenda this morning that he would come back home at noon, but he did not expect that he would see Kristen push Brenda.
He carefully examined Brenda’s body. Other than some small injuries, he did not see any wounds. But he fretted that Brenda might have a fracture after falling from the stairs.
“What happened?”
Brenda leaned into Marco’s embrace with tears filled in her eyes. That was quite an adorable look to men.
She looked at Kristen in fear and replied with an implied tone, “It’s me… I accidentally slipped and fell. It has nothing to do with Kristen. Don’t think too much…”
It would be better not to explain. A blanket on the stairs was expected to avoid falling. So how could Brenda accidentally slip and fall?
Almost instinctively, Marco looked at Kristen with a gloomy face, “Was it you who pushed Brenda down?”
He was asking with a tone of blame. As expected, history repeated itself… Kristen was filled with sorrow, but answered with a flamboyant smile on her face that didn’t match her mood, “Marco, didn’t you hear her say that she slipped and fell by herself? What does it have to do with me?”
Brenda lowered her head and sobbed on Marco’s chest as if she was trying to endure her grievances. Marco was upset by her crying.
It just so happened that Jade was also there. Marco asked,” Jade, tell me. Did you see anything just now?”
“I didn’t see anything because I was in the dining kitchen at that time, but I heard Ms. Lawrence was scolding Ms. Shapley,” Jade lowered her head.
Marco became gloomier. He sneered, “What did you hear?”
Jade looked as if she had some secret sorrow and said nothing.
Marco suppressed his anger and commanded in a low voice, “Say it!”
Jade lowered her head and said respectfully, “Ms. Lawrence said that as long as she was Mr. Latham, Ms. Shapley could only be a secret lover…”
