Tok! Tok! Tok!
Blaire knocked the door three times. After hearing my permission, she walked into my room.
She picked up the finished tea, cups and plates with the tray on her hand. Then, she cleaned up the table I had used just now.
She fixed her gaze on me and cleared her throat. “Hem, hem.”
“What?” I slowly turned my back on her, closing the book on my hands.
Blaire was brimming with happiness. She told me excitedly, “Milady, lady Yunifer of House Aventurine comes here to meet you. She is waiting in the visitor’s room now.”
“Ah, really? I will meet her in a moment!” I shouted and hastily got to my feet.
I took a deep breath and clenching my fists tightly.
Finally! The moment I had wait for so long finally arrived!
***
I walked slowly to the door, grabbing the door knob tightly, hesitating whether I should opened it or not.
The moment I heard she was already here, I dashed to this room without thinking.
My palm was covered in sweat and I could hear my heartbeat beating so fast right now. I assured myself that it would be alright.
Calm down, my heart. It’s okay, it’s okay. I know this moment will arrive, so I’m already prepared to face her. Phew…
I took a heavy breath as I turned the door knob. I could see a young woman who was around the age of me was reading a book silently. Her eyes was so focused on the book that she did not notice I had arrived. She had an apathetic look on her face and kept glancing at the clock beside her nervously.
She is an attractive young woman with long platinum white hair that flows down her back, coiffed into tight ringlets curls. Her bangs are short and reaches her eyebrows, revealing her golden eyes.
She has a pale skin and a pointy, high nose. She was so fair that it seemed as if light was emanating from her body.
Her lips are small painted with cherry blossom colour. She wore white silken gown that revealed her fair shoulder, set with a dark purple amethyst necklace which she wore around her neck and a pair of jewel earrings on her ears.
Wanting to attract her attention, I cleared my throat and said,
“Lady Yunifer Dalfon.”
I tried my best to smile brightly, but I know I could not. I was having a mixed feeling when I faced her. Longing, hurt, guilty, sadness and all of these emotions gathered together and turned into anxiety when speaking to her.
I held my chin high to hide these feelings and smiled warmly as if meeting the person you had longed for.
Yunifer who heard my voice, jerked up from her seat with her golden eyes went wider. Her voice quavered when she spoke my name.
“…Luna… It’s you… Gosh.”
I nodded, grinning.
“Yes, it’s me. It truly has been a while, isn’t it, Yuni? ” I said, hiding my trembling voice.
I called her by her nickname, Yuni, which just showed how close we are. She was taken aback at first but slowly regained her composure and pulled me into a deep, warm embrace.
She whispered in my ear with her angelic, girly, soft voice,
“Luna, I miss you so much! I thought you had already forgotten about me!”
A cold chill ran through my bones. I hugged her tightly and not wanting to let her go for the moment. If she knew about what I had done to her, I’m sure she would feel disgust and hatred, to the point she would broke off our friendship.
If that time happened, I don’t think I would be so brave to ask her to rekindle our friendship again. I would feel ashamed and worked harder to avoid meeting with her. After all, I truly deserved it.
Because of me, you cried for the first time. I broke your heart and treat you poorly. Because of my ignorant, I left you dying without hearing your explanation. I was too naive and clueless that I pointed you as the bad guy even though there was no evidence.
When you tried to explain to me, I pushed you off saying you were a liar. I still recalled the time when you had to cry in the corner silently while putting a brave face to ensure everyone you were okay, but I know you were not.
Despite this, you still approached me with the will to mend our relationship, even though I rejected you for many times.
Although you received many rejections from me, but everytime I see your face, your eyes will lit up as if you had gain the courage to approach me again.
My heart ached when I recalled the memories. No, no! I was determined to prevent these incidents from occurring in this timeline as hard as I could.
Yuni, you died because of my reckless choice. So this time, I’ll always stay by your side, hearing your complains about this injustice world and lending you my hand when you’re having a bad time, I will do everything just for you.
So please, stay with me even for a moment before you leave, because I don’t think I might be able to handle heartbroken when you gone.
O God, please, let me treasure this moment! Because when she left this world, I want to remember the precious time we had together so that it won’t leave a bad scar on me again. And so that I don’t think I made a brainless choice that ended up sacrificing her.
Yunifer, I’m glad to see you. I really miss you a lot!

“Luna, what do you think of these presents? Do you like it?”
She questioned as a smile appeared on her lips. Her smile, still warm and gentle as ever.
I glanced at the pile of gifts in front of me. It was too much that I could say it was exaggerating. All the gifts were such rare treasure that you don’t even need to think twice into buying them because of the high price.
But since she was a lady of an esteem, great house of Dalfon, I figured it out that she won’t need to change her mind just because the things she set her eyes on were expensive.
After all, she comes from a hailed rich family who’s the only one who could compete in term of influence, power, wealth and social status with the Lisianthus. They are the Dalfon, the house of the empresses.
I sighed. She had always like this, putting my feelings at first while hers is second.
I shifted my gaze at her, who locked her eyes on me to see my reaction.
“Yuni, thank you. But, don’t you think this is too much?”
“Ah! Are these not to your liking? Oh my god! What had I done? As your best friend, I should prepare a more extravagant gifts to celebrate your recovery!”
She paced back and forth, crossing arms while thinking another suitable, or rather luxurious presents to give me.
“No, not that, Yuni. I’m already thankful but I’d love it if you just give me simple gifts.”
She let out a shriek, and shook her head in disagreement, looking horror-stuck.
“No way! How could I do that? People might talk that I’m heartless as to give my only friend such plain gifts! Absolutely not!”
Only friend. It was as if a clash of thunder hit me. My heart throbbed.
“Then, try giving me the gifts you made by yourself. Maybe a handkerchief or a scarf? Don’t worry, I will gladly accept the things you give to me, Yuni.”
Her face lit up.
“Ah, really? But I’m not good at knitting and my embroidery is careless and ugly. Besides, it’s been a long time since I held a needle.”
Her voice lowered and her face drooped. How cute, she was like a puppy. I let out a small chuckle.
“A gift handmade from your heart is better than the one people give without sincere feelings.”
“Oh!”
She flustered. The blood raising through her cheeks that made her appeared as red as a tomato.
“Umm… But Luna, is this alright?”
She said nervously, peeking on the window to see the commotion outside.
“Why don’t you let Karina in too?”
“Ah… “
I forgot. She was here too. I stretched my neck to see the scene that happened before my eyes.
There was a loud young woman who behaved like a child on the outside.
As a young adult, Karina had long, wavy brown hair that extended to the middle of her back with bangs styled straight across her forehead hanging above a pair of large slanted peridot green eyes.
She also has a beauty mark right underneath the left side of her bottom lip. After several years, her curly hair was even grew longer and brushed past her hips.
Sometimes she will wear a bun. As a noblewoman, Karina was often dressed in lavish gowns, accessorized with fine jewelry and makeup.
That was Karina, the one who was responsible for my death.
Karina was being heavily guarded against entering the duchy. She stomped her feet angrily as an act to protest being treated discourteous.
“Why don’t you let me in?” She screamed.
“Don’t you know who I am?”
“Yes, I know. You’re Baron Lagrange’s illegitimate daughter.” One of the knights replied lazily. He sneered.
Karina’s face hardened. She gnashed her teeth.
It must be a disgrace for her who got treated such way from the commoners.
She despised it the most when people viewed her as the illegitimate child instead of a noble.
Due to this, she was being ostracized by other noble ladies who were born from the main wife. Her status is most likely is an obstacle for her bright future such as marrying with a high noble man.
Even so, I’m proud of the knights. I sniggered, fanning myself.
Oh my, Karina, what a beautiful face you are making! If your admirers see this, they must be truly shock!
How could the angel that they have always praised behaved badly like this?
This will be such a good rumours material if the other ladies found you behaved this way.
I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to imagine what would happen if the rumours about Karina spread like wildfire.
“Psst, do you know that Lady Karina Lagrange make a fuss in the Lisianthus duchy? “
“I heard that she was fighting her way through it even if she needed to fight the knights! “
“Ooh ooh … I heard … on the other hand, that she was not being gave in to enter the Dukedom!”
“Really? Just what did Lady Karina do to Lady Lunaria that she could not enter the duchy? They have always been best friends, right?”
“What do you know? They are not even a match! Lady Lunaria comes from a duke family, it would be disgrace for her to associate with lowly ladies. She should be friends with Lady Yunifer Dalfon! They are a perfect match!”
“Even though she is a noblewoman, she is still the Baron’s illegitimate daughter! Don’t forget the fact about it!”
“I know, so what’s the difference between her and the commoners? “
“Fighting over with a knight? How lowly!”
“The knights must be honoured to have seen lady Karina Lagrange’s true personality! “
Ah, indeed. The rumours are exaggerating.
I smirked. You know what, I should just let her there. And besides, I love the look she had when she was annoyed. Heh, how amusing.
“Just let her be. I’ll just meet with her later.”
I said indifferently with a shrug.
I mean, why should I meet with her anyway? She is not even my friend, she is just a bitch who backstabbed me while I was not looking. She is even worse than Gina, at least she did not try to harm me.
