Lady Faihannah Remarque.
One of Karina’s devoted followers and minions. We were not close, I have to admit. We detested each other fairly well.
Faihannah had curly shoulder-length brown hair with straight square bangs framing her pale face. As a noblewoman, she loved wearing gowns of dark shades because she thought it would focus on her beauty more and she was often draped in ornate accessories.
Lady Faihannah was a very ambitious woman who was willing to take extreme measures to bring prosperity to her family. As the only child of the well-respected and filthy rich Count Remarque, she was exceptionally adored by everyone and as a result, she was heavily spoiled.
The count would give her anything to her wish until she was satisfied. However, in my previous life, due to Faihannah’s reckless spending of money, their family suffered in debt and lost their house’s honour and reputations.
Even though she was not involved directly and related to my tragic death, she was still such an annoying flea that I would not be appeased until I got rid of her. Anyway, I should get a grip of myself and hold back as she will soon disappear in my sight not much longer.
The incident which would meet her end would happen in a few years, but since I got rebirthed, I would bring her closer to her destruction until it would just leave in just a few months later.
The lady called Faihannah Remarque crossed her arms pridefully and looked Yunifer and I in disdain, as though she was staring at filthy bugs.
Smirking, she said in a high-pitched girly voice which I absolutely detest. “Oh? So it is Lady Yunifer Dalfon and …”
Her gaze trailed my body and she choked in surprise. “Gosh!”
Slightly trembling, she stepped forwards closer towards me and leaned back. Her emerald eyes grew wider and brighter as she took a step, examining me head to toes. “Lady … Lunaria … isn’t it?”
“…”
Taking my silence as a yes, she pulled herself back and fanned herself. “Oh, oh! I didn’t see you there, Lady Lunaria. I hope you will forgive this lady for not noticing you.”
Faihannah added, “Oh of course, that is, since you have been rarely visiting this boutique anymore.”
“…”
She was hinting of my disappearance from the society for two years.
Wheeling around, Faihannah called out, “Andrea! Andrea!”
A maid soon be seen running hurriedly with plenty of dresses on her hands. Yunifer and I hardly ever saw her face due to being buried by the pile of clothes.
She was struggling to keep up her back so the clothes did not fall down. Panting and wobbling, she retorted, “Yes, milady? Do you call me?”
“Obviously, you sickening maid,” said Faihannah irritatingly. The maid shuddered and bowed her head in apology.
“Don’t you dare let my precious dresses fall on the dirty ground!” she shrieked when a green dress almost fell from the maid’s hands.
Yunifer and I watched Andrea trembling in fear sympathetically. The maid looked like she was barely standing up while holding all the dresses with her tiny, fragile body.
We could not do anything to intervene due to our status. Although we are born from the most influential family in the empire and have been served by plenty of skilled maids, we are still very respectful to the servants in our duchy, let alone a powerless and weary maid.
Ever since we were children, we have been taught to treat them fairly and kindly since they are our subjects. We only need to reprimand them if they did not do their job correctly, and fired a few servants if they were careless and improper in doing their job.
“Oh no, but what should I do? All the clothes here had been booked by me before. So, I’m afraid there’s nothing left for you here, ladies,” told Faihannah in an arrogant tone, fanning herself.
I bit my lip. I see … So this is what you are getting at.
I squinted my eyes and snorted. So you wanted to buy the whole dress in the boutique and left Yunifer and I in embarrassment because we could not buy anything and left the boutique with empty hands. This would ultimately crush our pride as ladies from the great House of Lisianthus and Dalfon.
“This annoying fat-*** bitch, I swear I’m going to tear down her arrogant face,” muttered Yunifer under her breath, clenching her fists tightly. Her face hardened in fury.
‘Oh no! This looks bad,’ I said to myself. If this continued on, the boutique would be turned upside down! This is horrible! I need to stop this!
I had always known Yunifer was a person who abstains from being challenged by her opponents. Right now, she was raging in fury. It was still a good thing she still could hold herself back. Otherwise, this boutique would turn into somewhat of a bloody battle ground.
“Yuni, dear,” I whispered softly in her ear.
Yunifer startled and shifted her gaze on me. “…What?”
“Calm down,” I said. Patting her back, I turned to look at the other nearest workers who were watching our fights. They were cowering in fear and hid themselves against the mannequins of the shop. “Don’t you guys have prepared my dresses in another place?”
“Oh well, yes,” answered one of them timidly for fear Faihannah would rage again. “We have separated them in another section.”
“Oooh, that’s good too.” The corner of my mouth twitched I called out Faihannah. “Oh, no, Lady Faihannah! It looks like there are still dresses in the boutique.”
Faihannah glared at me with fumes and she tried hard to control her smile. “Really, looks like I need to buy them too.”
“But I think you don’t have to anymore, Lady Faihannah,” said Yunifer mockingly.
“What do you mean?” asked Faihannah sharply.
Yunifer pointed out her slender finger to the maid, Andea. “Just look at her, she could barely stand up! I’m worried she might fall down the next moment you throw the dresses on her.”
Andrea popped her head out from the pile of clothes and smiled awkwardly, as though she was grateful to us for mentioning the fact.
Faihannah stomped her feet angrily. “So what? I have another maid! She will be the one to carry all my dresses!”
She called loudly, “Monica!”
Listening to her name being called, a young woman dashed to Faihannah and bowed to us in respect. “Yes, milady?”
Unlike Andrea who was skinny and would fell down at any moment, Monica was quiet the opposite. She was a plump, confident and bright maid that seemed to be so energetic to carry Faihannah’s stuffs.
“You will carried my other dresses! I will fired you immediately if any of them were to touch the ground!”
“I will, milady! Please put your trust on me!” Monica answered brightly, pumping her fists and placed it on her chest.
I could hear Yunifer mumbled something beside me. “Oh dear, what a poor maid! She doesn’t know what she might gone through in the next moment!”
My gaze followed Faihannah as she made her way to Neelam near the corner with a gleeful smile across her face. She leaned back and whispered something on Neelam’s ears to which I could make a guess of it.
She must want to buy my dresses. As expected, she fell to the trap!
Since they were hiding from our view, Yunifer and I stepped closer and listen closely. Suddenly, Faihannah stomped in protest. “What are you saying?! Don’t you hear me? I want to buy all the dresses in the store!”
“I … I am … sorry, Lady Remarque. But these dresses are specifically made for Lady Lunaria Lisianthus,” explained the owner breathlessly. There were tears in her eyes.
“I will buy them at a higher price! Sell them to me instead!” Faihannah demanded.
Neelam glanced at me apologetically and when I nodded, she brightened up. “Well, lady … we could sell them to you. But at a higher price — .”
“Heh, just name the price! How much? I could buy all of them at once,” said Faihannah arrogantly, flipping her brown hair.
“It’s cheap and I put them in affordable price, lady.” Neelam bended and wrote something on a piece of paper. After she had done, she handed it to Faihannah.
Faihannah’s emerald eyes grew wider as she read the paper. Her face hardened and pale white like paper. “Are – you – kid – ding – me? ” She clenched the bill in her hand and shoved it under Neelam’s nose and shrieked. “30 000 gold coins?!”
“Why – yes … lady …” responded Neelam, looking puzzled.
“Ridiculous!” Faihannah tore the bill into pieces furiously and pointed her finger rudely to the owner of the shop. “You are a fraud! Let me tell my father about this and I will surely sue you guys in court! Your store will be taken down in a moment!”
“…What ?” said Neelam in disbelief, she gnashed her teeth and yelled back at her.. “Milady, insulting our products is one thing! I could not tolerate you running your mouth like that!”
“Y-y-you… how dare you talk back at me like that!” said Faihannah, looking taken aback. “Do you know who I am? I am —”
“Yes, yes, I know you are the beloved lady of Count Remarque, ” Neelam cut Faihannah’s words lazily. “But that doesn’t excuse you to insult our product! If you do not wish to buy our dress anymore, then I, as the owner of the shop, asked you, an esteemed customer, to – GET – OUT !” she pointed to the exit.
Faihannah was such a prideful lady. It must have been because she was spoiled all her life. So how could she knew that the shop was being backed up by the imperial family? I sniggered.
Since the empress dowager loved the dress, the owner, Neelam was not afraid to talk back. Faihannah did not know this because only fewer people know about this including me.
In fact, I only knew this in the previous life when I was still the empress. Neelam attended to me to make my bride gown and came to the palace very often to make royal gowns and dresses for me.
“Oh dear, now I feel bad for Lady Faihannah.”
“Don’t feel bad for her, Luna. She didn’t deserve it! Anyway, why did she hesitates? Isn’t she was the one who was so eager to buy the whole dress in the boutique? Or is it because she doesn’t have any money left?” asked Yunifer sneeringly, adding the fuel.
“No way! You couldn’t talk like that, Yunifer! Lady Faihannah comes from a paid-off family so she must have the money to pay for the dresses!”
Yunifer clicked her tongue irritably. “Hmph!”
Faihannah flushed in embarrassment. “Y-you wait ! – You wait !” Stomping her feet in protest, she dashed to the counter and took a large bag of coins. She poured out all the coins on the counter desk.
“Heh! Who said I don’t have any money left?”
“We are honoured to sell our clothes to Lady Remarque. We wish you a good day shopping at another store. Please come again next time,” cheered Neelam happily as though she had forgotten regarding the incident just now. She bowed along with the other workers as Faihannah left the boutique.
After ensuring Faihannah had gone out of sight, she sighed in relief. Neelam walked over to me with an anxious look on her face.
“Are you sure this plan will work, Lady Lisianthus?,” she whispered, biting her thumb nail nervously.
I merely nodded. “Rest assured, Neelam. Like I had speak to you before, this plan will surely work out. I promised!”
Neelam took a deep breathed and cleared her throat. “… I see.”
Then, she rubbed her hands and flashed me a business-like smile. “Then why don’t you take a look at your dresses?”
Heh, I smirked. Faihannah was really a foolish lady. Did she truly think the dresses she bought were mine? I chuckled, shaking my head. Just wait, Faihannah. This is only the beginning!
Next, I will make sure to entertain you with more interesting things before you reach your end! Let me play with this little cute innocent lamb a bit before she got devoured by the wolf!
