Suzuki Kazuya’s POV
Being alone for almost my whole life and especially my time in the university is already normal for me but everything changed when Yuki arrived in my life. Everyday was full of excitement just thinking about how I will be able see him at the end of the day.
It became even brighter when I met his family who accepted me and our relationship whole heatedly.
One afternoon while I am busy finishing a project, I heard some rumor spreading around the university from a group of students who are taking the same class as me.
“Hey did you know about that new student from the Business department?”
“Ohh do you mean that new cute guy? Is that rumor really true?”
“Yes, someone actually saw him and the librarian together.”
“That librarian? Are you talking about Mr. Hanabi, that middle aged handsome guy?”
“Yes exactly, and someone saw them having a date at the planetarium last weekend.’
“Seriously? How come can two guys have that some kind of relationship.”
“I know right, and besides they have a huge age gap.”
Their conversation about the topic continued until I choose not to listen anymore because it makes me feel uncomfortable until they changed into some topic that turned my world into chaos.
“…but haven’t you heard about the new issue about someone from our department?”
“What? Don’t tell me someone is also gay in our department?”
“Someone spotted a guy wearing our department uniform in the park yesterday being sweet with some guy publicly.”
“Eh? Really? Do you have any idea who is that guy?”
“Unfortunately the photo was blurry in some angles but it is currently spreading in the group chats.”
“Let me check first….oh found it. Here take a look.”
“Hmmm…”
“I can’t make out the face of the student but I think I recognize the other guy.”
“Yes, you’re right. He looks really familiar.”
“Ohh I think he looks like that guy I see sometimes in the convenience store near that park.”
I stand up and grabbed my things and ran away. My heart is racing and it feels like it will explode at any time because of what I’ve heard.
After I got home, I hesitantly opened my phone and surf into the school forums and there I found the blurry photo that those people were talking about. It was just what I am worried about, it was really a picture of me and Yuki yesterday while I am taking a nap on his shoulders.
My features in the photo got the most blurry part while the face of Yuki is a little recognizable. I feel doomed and guilty at the same time. It is all my fault. If I just considered the consequence of the way I acted publicy yesterday, maybe this kind of accident will never happen.
After stressing myself out that whole afternoon, I fell asleep without realizing and when I woke up it was already early in the morning. I have missed five calls from Yuki and a text message asking me if I am not feeling well.
I wanted to hear his voice and see his face to feel relaxed but then the wave of reality hit me so hard.
“I don’t have time for this. I should settle the issue first and protect Yuki from all those people judging this kind of relationship.” I said to myself and stand up.
I started tracing the source of the photo and decided to confront them and ask to delete the photo. I went to the university as early as possible so I can continue searching for the culprit.
It took me almost an hour before I finally found the original account that uploaded the photo of us. I can’t make out the name of the person based on the user name but when I stared at the profile picture of the account, my anger turned into rage as I finally saw who is responsible for that picture.
It was that bastard, that guy who stole my ex girlfriend. I should have punched him more that time and send him in the hospital for a month instead of just punching him for a few times.
I started asking about him among the other students and it seems that he is famous among the girls so I have no trouble of finding him. I was on the way to confront him when I heard someone talking inside an unoccupied room.
“Are you serious about that? You mean that photo is really Kazuya?” It was the familiar voice of a girl.
“Yes I am sure because I saw it but that guy is so damn lucky to have the photos to turn out blurred. I wanted to get back from him after punching me in the face.”
I peaked through the gap of the door and there I saw that bastard and Naomi. My anger swells up and my vision turned dark. I kicked the door open and grabbed his phone then throw it to the floor before stomping it multiple times. I grabbed his collar with my left hand as I punched him multiple times as he I caught him off guarded.
Being blinded by my anger, I didn’t noticed everything that is happening around us until I heard a faint sound of Naomi’s scream and two hands that grabbed me away from the bloody face of that bastard.
“Stop!! Do you really want to kill someone here in the school ground?” A professor snap me back to reality as he drag me down the counselor office while the other one run forward to carry that bastard to the clinic.
“..but he’s too much.”
“It was not a valid reason to attack someone like that. You may face charges of assault if we didn’t stop you in time. You are lucky to have us in your side because we understand that you are a good student who will not attack someone without any valid reason so just behave properly inside and let us help you get through this issue. ” He whispered to me as we enter the guidance counselor office.
The counselor is a strict looking lady who seems to be at her 50’s. She looked at me with her piercing eyes as she listened to what my professor is telling about the attack I did against another student.
“Can you bring the other party involved here as well?”she asked.
“I’m sorry but we cannot bring him here with us because Mr. Satou brought him in the clinic.”
“So you are telling me that the other party involved have attained too much injury that needs urgent medical attention while the one you are telling me as the victim is here looking unharmed?” her tone is sarcastic as she states the obvious things about the case. “You need to call your guardian here today.”
“I think that isn’t necessary anymore. They are both in the legal age to think for themselves.”my professor answered.
“Mr. Asuma I think you are interfering with this case too much. You can now leave everything to me. I promise that I will be fair and judge things accordingly.”
“Ok I understand. I will be going now. Suzuki-kun please explain your side properly.” and then he left the room.
I just sit there silently as she searched for my school records and that bastard.
“Suzuki Kazuya, based on your student record you were a well mannered and disciplined student with outstanding grades that enables you to keep a scholarship from the PL University. You weren’t involved with any troubles within and outside the school grounds so why have you done it this time?”
“…” I just looked down on the floor. I don’t want to tell her that my relationship with someone was the reason behind my rampage.
“Hayaguchi Tanuma, a student who is one year above you is the one you attacked right? Based on his records he is a problematic student of our University. There were multiple reports about how he was harrasing other students but there were always no proof so he always got away from being punished. Compared to you who is a model student, no one will believe that you beat him up like that, so what is your real reason? Just tell me and I promise that I will be fair.”
She keeps interrogating me but I still remain silent. I wanted to keep everything a secret. I want to keep Yuki away from all this issue.
“Fine if you will not talk, then I have no choice but to call yout guardian here. Give me your phone.”
“I don’t have a guardian so you can’t call anyone here.” I confidently handed my phone to her.
“Then how about I call the last person you contacted in your phone?” My eyes widened as I realized who she will be calling.
“Hey stop it. You can’t do that!” I tried to snatch my phone back but she swiftly moved away and walk outside the room while locking me inside.
“Hello I’m Ms. Akane, the counselor of the PL University and I just wanted to ask if I can invite you here in my office?”
“No, it’s not like that, I just need your help to answer some questions and besides, Suzuki-kun doesn’t have any guardian and when I browsed through his contacts you are the only name I saw beside all of the contact number of his part-time jobs so I assumed that you are somehow related to him.”
“Yes thank you, we will be waiting for you to arrive here. Goodbye.”
She entered the room and tossed the phone back to me. I just remained motionless as I saw that it was really Yuki who will be going here.
It is over. There’s no point in protecting Yuki from the issue if he will be directly involved upon arriving here.
I sit back to my chair and locked my gaze towards the counselor. I have to clear things up before Yuki arrives.
“Ms. Akane, will you still be fair if I tell you the whole story?”
“Yes, just tell me everything and it will be a secret between us.”
“Well it all begin when…
