“Hold on, what?” Sitting down in a café with my oldest friend, Sally Rouge, we talked about my current relationship. “You’re dating that hunk, Michael Jones?? You b*tch, and you didn’t even tell me?” I smiled. “We only got together a few months ago. He’s great and always makes sure that he has time for me.”
She put her hands on her cheeks and sighed. “If only I could score myself a wealthy boyfriend like you. What has he bought you? Diamond necklaces? Lake houses? A helicopter?”
“An apartment…” I sound so cheap… Her eyes sparkled. “Really? You lucky thing! Hey, it’s been a while since we’ve both seen each other! Let’s go to the mall and spend all of our hard-earned money on clothes!” Wild and free. Sally has always been what I’ve dreamed to be.
“Sounds like a plan!” For the rest of the day, we went to the mall and browsed through the endless racks of clothes. This is so nice… hanging out with a friend like this!
Eventually, we past a store and I froze. Couple rings were in the window and a pair caught my eye. Not girly and not to manly. Zack would look so cool wearing that! “Buy them!” Sally said, pushing me into the store.
“But they are so expensive!” She grinned. “That’s the point! If you don’t buy him something expensive, he probably would never wear it!” They’re worth my monthly salary working at Wonder Group! But she’s right… I want to get him something that he isn’t ashamed to wear.
I bought the two rings, which came in a beautiful double ring velvet box. I even got our initials engraved inside of them. He’ll love them, I hope. As our day ended, we waited at a café while she waited for her brother to pick her up.
“Hey! Why don’t you come to our place on Friday! My brother is having a party!” A party, hm? The Rouge’s parties were legendary, and even though I’ve always chickened out on attending one, I feel like I could now. I’ve got the strength to attend one. “Okay, I’ll think about it!”
Squealing, she jumped onto me, hugging me tightly. “Yay! That’s great!” “Hold on, is that Alice? Alice Davis?” Sally’s brother, Will, walked into the café and saw me. His mouth opened wide, dropping to the floor.
“Will, it’s been a while. 3 years?” He nodded, a little in awe. “You’ve… developed nicely.” Sally chuckled, hitting him in the arm. “Perv! Come on, let’s go! See you on Friday, Alice!”
She then left, leaving me in the café all by myself. I’d better call Knox to pick me up. I didn’t want her to see that I had my own butler at my beck and call. Taking out my phone, I went to dial his number when a hand appeared out of nowhere and took my phone from me. Turning around, I smiled at the man behind me. He was here.
