- Chapter 69 - Chapter 2 - Nonexistent Compassion -Michael-
I stared at the girl up and down. Her figure was like a model’s and her clothes hugged her in all the right places. Her straight blond hair and her blue eyes made her glare hit even more than it normally would. She was beautiful, I wasn’t going to lie but her naivete ruined her attractiveness.
“You’re a monster!” Her words held weight but not enough to weigh me down. I walked towards her, grabbing her chin and bringing it up so that her eyes were right on mine. “You’ve only realised that now? How pathetic are you?”
Her cheeks blushed a bright red as she took out her dagger and directed it towards me. I dodged her with ease, making her stumble and fall onto the ground, next to the old man’s body. What a pitiful girl who wants to play dress up. An assassin is a man’s job. Women who want to break that tradition only get in the way.
“Y-You… you shouldn’t have killed that man! He was repenting.” I looked at her and grinned. She’s amusing, ever so amusing. I then smiled and looked at her sweetly, which sent a chill down her spine.
“What if I was to tell you that I repented when I killed this man. Would you still try and kill me then?” She frowned. “I-“
“No. You wouldn’t. You didn’t even ask me before lunging at me. Therefore, your logic is not smart but stupid.” I saw her cower before me. It was like she had finally seen the beast behind the flesh.
“You might not… you might not feel sorry but I believe this man did! And to avenge him, I’ll kill you!” A foolish girl wants to kill me? How sweet… and foolish yet again. She just strengthens my point.
Lifting up her chin to look at me, I sighed and raised my hand as I approached the window. “Goodbye, Miss Fool. May our pathes never cross again.” Then, sirens started to go off and flashing lights made me and the girl tense. The police? I get it now… this man set us up.
He called for both of us to be here, so that the police could catch two assassins. I was dumb enough to fall for it. As I opened the window, the girl grabbed a hold of my trench coat, pleading.
“Please… don’t leave me behind! I can’t go to prison!” I smirked. “You want a murderer to help you? My, how desperate are you to escape, little girl? Well… you’d better hold tight.”
Putting a mask on, I grabbed her wrist and pulled her into my arms, my warmth making her cheeks slowly turn red. Grabbing her, I then heard my ride approaching in the distance. As my helicopter stopped overhead, a string fell down which I grabbed, holding onto the girl tightly as well. And just like that, we escaped into the darkness of the sky, never to be seen again. I felt the girl claw against my chest, desperately trying not to fall. She smelt like jasmine… it was an intoxicating scent. One that I could have gotten used to in different circumstances.
