As we both arrived at school, I looked up ahead and saw the Lieutenant Colonel leaning against the tent on his phone. I walked up to him and started to stare. Only when he looked down did he jump. “Gosh, Quinn, what are you-“
He then froze. “W-Why are you here?” I stood back up straight and pointed towards the building. “School.” He seemed a little shocked. Theresa should have told me to stay away from school so why was I here?
“So you’re the one that scared Theresa. Please don’t do that again. She seemed very panicked, especially if you’re not even allowed to approach me without specific orders.” He seemed shocked. How did I know so much about my situation-
“Quinn! Come on, they’re picking teams.” I then took something out of my pocket and handed it to him. “Eat this. You seem a little pale, it’ll bring your blood sugar up.”
I then ran away to chase after Noah while he sat there, confused. If anything, I should be running away. He always thought that he was 3 steps ahead of me when it was me who was 6 steps ahead of him. But Theresa’s words resonated throughout his mind.
The government recruited Andrea. She became a weapon when she had all of that technology to her disposal. They treated her like a weapon and she became one. Right now, all he sees is a young girl with a higher I.Q. than most… which has the potential to become a weapon if nurtured. But on the surface, I look like just any other school girl.
He sighed and retired to the tent for the day, awaiting to give his report to the head offices.
My eyes sparkled as I looked right at the board where the activities were being posted. “Paintball? Heck yeah!” I then mumbled to myself “Are they going to use a biodegradable compound for the paint? Or heat-vanishing spray. Once the heat wave comes tomorrow, all of the paint would disappear…”
Noah sighed and grabbed my hand. “Hey, you should listen to me, you know!” I was ignoring him unconsciously. “Sorry, Noah. But doesn’t the paint interest you?”
He slowly shook his head. “Should it?” I guess that something like the game is more exciting than the science behind it.
“Quinnie!” Only one person would call me Quinnie. I turned around and saw Nick walk right towards me. “Hey, kiddo. Paintball today? Your mother taught you how to use guns, didn’t she?”
I nodded and grinned. “Sure did. Even made me memorise all of their names, firing speeds and weaknesses.” Noah turned towards me, a little nervous. “Guns?” I nodded. “Yeah, at shooting ranges. Mother and I used to go all of the time.” He suddenly seemed a little relieved.
“Well, try not to get too bored, kiddo. Also, there’s good news. Lieutenant Colonel Evan has decided to give you the thumbs up on his report. What did you do to him this morning?”
“I scared him out of his pants.” Nick’s eyes went wide. “Wait, what? Argh, forget about it. Good luck, kid.” I grinned. “Thanks.” He smirked. “I’m talking to the kid next to you. You knew that.”
