- Chapter 401 - A Happy Life
Only Johny and Ceres were left alone in the room. The atmosphere was getting weird.
Ceres didn’t know how to face Johny, so she fixed her gaze on the baby. She also tucked the baby in from time to time because she had nothing better to do.
Johny walked over and sat on the bed. He put his arm around Ceres.
“I am sorry for what you have gone through,” Johny said.
These words brought out Ceres’ tears.
Ceres couldn’t hold it anymore. Tears were running down her face.
Johny held Ceres in his arms tightly. Ceres punched Johny gently.
She knew that his father was dead, so he really couldn’t come to her at that time. Ceres understood him, but she still felt aggrieved.
“Don’t cry. Your eyes will hurt.” Before Ceres gave birth, Johny had read so many books about how to take care of women who had just given birth.
Ceres pouted. After she cried for a while, Ceres looked at Johny with tears in her eyes. Johny dried her tears with a tissue and said, “Don’t cry, please.”
“Is everything arranged properly?” Ceres dared not say anything related to the funeral. She thought that it would hurt Johny’s feelings.
“Yes, he was buried this morning,” Johny said.
Ceres snuggled into Johny. She didn’t know how to comfort him. People only saw Johny’s cold side, but Ceres knew very well that Johny was pained inside.
“Why did you come back so late?” Ceres asked.
“It’s about the will.”
Johny told Ceres about the will Jack gave to him before Jack died and the evil plan of Zara.
Usually, Johny would call Zara’s bluff. Ceres knew that Johny could have done something to make it right.
According to the way things were now, Ceres knew that Johny didn’t want to make it right.
“What my father values most is the Winsor Group. Ceres, as your husband, I should have discussed it with you before I made the decision. But I have made up my mind to give up the Winsor Group. Is it okay for you?” Johny said.
Ceres looked at Johny’s deep eyes, still charming but with a touch of sadness.
Ceres knew that Johny didn’t have to ask for her opinion about it, but he still did so out of respect.
Because she was his wife.
“I am okay with it,” Ceres said.
“My father valued his business a lot. If I want to take it back, there are still ways. But I went against the Winsor Group for so long that it can’t take any blow anymore. It will not do any good to me or the company if I insist on taking it back,” Johny explained.
Johny held Ceres in his arms with a sigh and added, “They can take it as long as they run it well. I will not interfere with anything related to the Winsor Group.”
Ceres nodded and said, “This is what I want. If you take over it, you will have two companies at hand and won’t have time for me and the baby. The Eagle Group is good enough for us. We don’t need so much money.”
Hearing Ceres’ words, Johny felt relieved. He knew that Ceres would stand on his side.
Ceres thought of Sofia, who caused her to deliver the baby in advance.
Ceres also found the coincidence a little ridiculous for her to deliver the baby in advance while Johny’s father died.
It seemed like a well-arranged plan to unnerve Johny so that he would be too occupied to make the right decision.
Since someone made her deliver her baby early, Ceres thought that the death of Johny’s father might have something to do with others.
Ceres was wondering if someone killed Johny’s father.
“What’s wrong?” Johny noticed that Ceres seemed to be bothered by something else.
“Well, I have this feeling that the death of your father is a little weird. Swedum told me that your father got so much better because he took medicine on time. I didn’t expect that he would…” Ceres hesitated.
Johny rubbed Ceres’ hand and said, “I have the same doubts as you. After I left that day, I didn’t go back at once. I went to the hospital first and looked through the files of my father, but I didn’t find anything abnormal. Considering all these years Zara spent with my father, I believe that she still has feelings for him. She might not kill my father, although she can’t wait to see him dead. After all, she forged a will in advance.”
Ceres nodded and said, “I see.”
In the end, Ceres didn’t tell Johny about her early delivery. She thought that if she told him about it, Johny would not let Zara get away with this easily.
Since Johny wanted to be cut off from the Winsor family, Ceres didn’t want to bother him with it. She wanted a peaceful life with him.
Ceres decided to keep this a secret forever.
“Haven’t you seen our son yet?” The baby was sleeping right next to the big bed. Ceres pulled the crib over and said, “Look, this is our son. They told me that the baby looks so much like you. It is said that boys take after their mother, while girls take after their father. That’s unfair that our boy looks like you instead of me!”
This was the first time Johny saw a baby closely.
He didn’t know where his hands should stay and if he should touch the baby’s cheek or his head.
Johny found that both the cheek and his head were not a good idea, so he withdrew his hand.
“Who said that? He looks like you more,” Johny said.
“Is that true?” Ceres looked at the sleeping baby in the crib excitedly and continued, “I think so, too. After all, he is my son. It would be so weird if he didn’t look like me at all. I suffered a lot to give birth to him. All of the throwing up and when I delivered him…”
Ceres didn’t finish the words because she didn’t want to recall the painful process of giving birth.
“Does it hurt a lot?” Johny held Ceres’ hand tightly.
Ceres pouted. She had to say that giving birth was the most painful thing in the world.
However, Johny had just lost his father, and he blamed himself a lot for not staying with Ceres when she gave birth. So, Ceres didn’t want to add to his pain.
“It hurts indeed. But everything is fine after that,” Ceres said.
Although Ceres tried to make it sound easy, Johny could tell that she was saying so to comfort him.
Johny had consulted a doctor a long time ago, and the doctor told him that the pain women had to suffer when they gave birth was equal to that when ten ribs were broken. It was the highest level of pain for human beings.
Johny held Ceres’ chin up and kissed her gently.
“You owe me a lot!” Ceres punched Johny gently.
“Yes, I owe you. I will pay you back with the rest of my life,” Johny said.
Ceres leaned against Johny’s chest with a sweet smile.
She wished that they could live a happy life from now on.
Zara was sitting in the car gloomily.
The car stopped beside a cemetery located somewhere on a mountain.
