Grinning like a fool, Killian stared at his sword smiling. He remembered what I told him last night, what I whispered into his ear. Never had he felt so important to anyone before. Footsteps slowly approached him, making him snap out of his trace.
He couldn’t let me down, he knew that. He gripped his sword tightly before looking at the arena in front of him. Meanwhile, I spied on him through an orb of all-sight. He looked nervous but that’s only natural. But he’s going to win because I told him what to do. All he needs to do is read their movements and he’ll best them.
His brothers arrived behind him, smirking. “If it isn’t the charity case of the palace? Hey, Killian, long time no see.” He clenched his fists but managed to release a smile. Putting out his hand, he smiled at Warren. “May the best swordsman win!”
He snarled and pushed Killian against the wall, snarling. “Stop acting like you’re on the same level of us, dog. If you’re so confident, why don’t we make a bet?” Killian’s eyes tensed.
“If I win, you hand over Xena to me so that she can become my concubine.” His brothers smirked. “And… what if I win?” He smiled. “I’ll do one thing for you. Anything you want. Our brothers will be witness to this deal so no one will be able to slither away from it. So? What do you say, coward Killian?”
I looked at him through the orb, my eyes and mouth frowning. I wonder… what will he say? I am, after all, an object of trade. I could easily manipulate my plan where marrying the Prince would be beneficial but I’d rather not be someone else’s property than my preys.
“Fine… I accept your duel! But just so you know… if I win, I’m never going to let you approach Xena again! You’re bothering her!” Just as Warren went to retort, the horn sounded making everyone gain their place. The pressure was now on, more than ever.
That fool… he thinks that he’s invincible now but with me by his side, he is just that. I’m the puppet master and I use my puppets in a way that is favourable to my amusement. Always.
I then put my orb away as I then walked from the little entrance tunnel and into the stands. Immediately, heads turned as I slowly sat on the marble banister. My long blond hair flew in the wind, unbound and as loose as I was last night.
Using my salary, I had bought myself a pretty cute white dress with a black and green sash. I loved it on me but what I liked the most about it was how harmless it made me look.
But I’m not the one who you should be watching. It’ll be the mutt who wins against the pedigree dogs that you should watch. It’s time for traditions to change… permenantly.
