Dodging his sword once more, I jumped back just as he swung his sword at my neck. It didn’t even graze by. We’ve been at this for three days and he still hasn’t improved. All he’s done is give himself blisters.
“I told you, read my movements.” He then tripped up on a stone and fell onto the ground, exhausted. I heard his heavy breath as he laid there, turning around and looking right into the sky at the sun.
“It’s hopeless.” he said while looking into the sky. I then sighed and threw my sword onto the ground, closing my book. I looked at him and smirked, reminding him of how everyone looked down on him.
Slowly, he got back up, taking out his sword. “What’s this? Has the man finally come out? Or have I been playing around with the puppy all along?” His eyes tensed as he grabbed his sword. He took a deep breath and then looked right at me sharply.
That’s what I wanted to see… those eyes… that determination! I taunted him as he lunged towards me. I dodged but then, my eyes sharpened as I dropped to the floor. His other hand past right above my head as I jumped back skillfully. He almost got me there. He fainted… he picked up on the opening I left him.
Good… Good, good, good! He’s improved after all. Taunting seems like the way. “What’s with that sissy punch? A girl could do better than that.” “Oh yeah?” “OH YEAH!”
He lunged towards me, reading my obvious foot patterns as I dodged all of his attacks. Then, he started to overwhelm me a little. Then, I felt myself approach the side of the ring. He was backing me into a corner. My eyes then tensed as I fell down onto my hands, side kicking the flat side of his sword, sending it across the arena.
He made me feel uncomfortable… he’s improving to a degree that not even I could predict. A fast learner… I like it. He looked at his hands, the vibrations of my kick still making them tremble.
His skill isn’t in swordplay. It isn’t in battle strategy. It isn’t in politics. It’s in learning. No one has ever taught him what he needed to know, if not he would have surpassed his brother’s long ago.
I then smiled. “Congratulations… you won.” I walked over and picked up his sword, throwing it back to him. Stumbling, he eventually caught the sword and looked right at me, confused.
“Hold on, why? I didn’t get a hit in…” I smiled. “You didn’t but my foot touched your sword. Therefore, I lose. Good job. You might not be a lost case after all.” His eyes lit up, his hands gripping his sword tightly. “Again!” I turned my head towards him, shocked. He wants to continue? Oh, gosh, please! I haven’t had a decent night’s sleep in days! But I must indulge him, I guess. I smiled. “Yet again, it is…”
