Ethan stretched an arm out to stop Carl from coming any closer, the veins on his arm on the verge of popping, as if he was trying to endure something within him.
“Carl, we might have fallen for their trap!” Ethan suddenly said seriously.
From the beginning of the ambush until they exploded and died, those people didn’t look like they were afraid to die at all. The final scene of their flesh and blood flying everywhere proved this point.
But then if they weren’t afraid to die, why did they surrender their weapons??
Ethan had realized this, so that’s why he didn’t allow anybody to go near, and set all the bodies on fire after they were all dead.
During the battle earlier, there were some who had gone near the rebel soldiers. Then later when the rebel soldiers went into self destruction, all the bloodied body fragments had flown pretty far, and even though they had all stepped back, the fragments got on some of them Ethan was one of them.
Carl’s face changed, “Young Master, you mean…”
Carl’s communication device suddenly rang. He picked up the call and he could hear Kevin’s panicked voice on the other end. “Carl! Bad news! We’ve got four or five people infected here! That group of soldiers earlier were all patient zeroes!”
Carl couldn’t understand at first. What illness acted up so quickly and was so highly contagious??
Fear suddenly struck him.
“Kurjit virus!”
Ethan vomited another mouthful of blood. The word ‘Kurjit’ had also appeared in his mind at the same time, and this was the first time he had felt fear in his life.
If he was really infected by the K virus, then he was probably never going to see Emily ever again!
That farewell earlier was for eternity!
Carl couldn’t believe it either. There were at least two thousand people who had tried to ambush them, and if all of them were infected with the virus in order to kill one Young Master, the enemy was really cruel! This was definitely a cult!
K virus was an incurable virus, and the enemy wouldn’t use this virus unless they intended to destroy the entire country or even the entire world!
The K virus appeared about two hundred years ago, and millions had died from it already.
The outbreak started in Tunisia, and in order to contain the virus, all the experts and researchers had come together to try to fight it.
But it was in vain, and there remained no cure for this viral attack. It spread very quickly, and all patients would not live more than a month. So at that time they had no choice but to kill all who were infected, burn the bodies and bury the ashes deep underground.
More than a century ago, there was an outbreak in one particular city, and the entire city was closed off. The Tunisian government sent people to imprison everyone in their own homes, sealing off the doors and windows to let them starve to death.
Apparently nobody set foot in that city till today and it was now famous for being a haunted city, where you could still hear the sound of people desperately banging on their doors at night… Everywhere that had been assaulted by the K virus was completely destroyed, and even though two centuries had passed, mere mention of the K virus turned anyone pale in the face.
If every one of those soldiers were infected… if no prevention was made, they could destroy the whole country!!
Ethan was still fairly clear headed at this point. He frantically sent a message to the Libyan government and explained everything that happened. The government official immediately went pale when he heard that it could be the K virus. He sent his best team to contain the virus immediately, and increased the attack on the rebel army.
Thankfully the crossfire was happening in an empty city, or otherwise it would be impossible to stop the spread of this virus.
Ethan sent another set of orders calmly. He told Levi to quarantine those who were infected and send them to the army camp. Even though there was no cure for the K virus, doctors managed to create a vaccine of sorts, and if this vaccine was administered within the first two hours of being infected, they had a 1% chance of surviving the virus.
Ethan then made a call to his home country to report the current situation and requested that they watch their borders carefully.
Finally he couldn’t hold off any longer, and huge drops of sweat rolled down his forehead.
“Go back to the army camp! If he takes the vaccine now there’s a chance…”
Carl gave these instructions and the pilot immediately turned back. Ethan opened his mouth but couldn’t make any sound. Patients with the K virus would usually suffer a high fever for three days, and many people died from just this bout of fever!
Ethan’s communication device suddenly started ringing.
He took some effort to pick up the call, and a sharp voice could be heard, “Young Master Lu…I’ve heard much about you…”
Ethan had a bad feeling about this and bit the tip of his tongue to force himself to remain alert! But the other side continued to speak slowly, “Young Master Lu has never seen me, but you’ve caused tremendous damage to me. Your country has an idiom that means that in order to understand what is going on, I must find the root of the problem. If not for you, this country’s firearms would never have been able to stop me! If you hadn’t made that antivirus capsule, I could have overthrown this government and ruled over the country! We’ve made preparations for several decades but you have destroyed everything! Young Master Lu, I’m sure you know who I am, right??”
Of course he knew.
This was the person who started the civil war in Libya, the ambitious Uriket Mage.
Ethan’s eyes flashed red as he clenched his teeth and demanded, “What about Emily?? Where is she?!”
“I couldn’t tell that Young Master Lu was so sentimental. I thought she wasn’t anything very useful, but it looks like I’m wrong.”
A low laughter came from the other side, and then he spoke coldly, “Come on, little girl, tell him who you are.”
There was no sound on the other side, but Ethan could sense something, and his voice trembled. “Emily??”
THE END!!
