“Ethan, eat a little, won’t you??”
Chloe was frowning and looked like she had been put in a difficult spot. She had a pair of large almond shaped eyes that gave her a very pure sort of beauty. Her brows were slightly furrowed, as if someone had just bullied her.
Ethan shut his eyes as the disgust in his heart grew. He never really liked how Chloe was always so meek and gentle like that, but because she had saved him, he decided to be nicer to her. But now he wasn’t sure anymore about whether Chloe was really the person who saved him back then. Based on what happened to Benjamin alone, Chloe didn’t seem like a self sacrificing person at all.
Ethan looked at how she stayed by his side so faithfully and suddenly smiled wickedly. If Chloe found out that he was infected with the K virus, he wondered if she would still care for him like this.
He couldn’t care less if Chloe was infected from him. Unfortunately, the virus only spread through exchange of bodily fluids and like hell, he would touch her.
“Young Master, time to take your medicine.”
Doctor Yan walked over with several pills in his hands. Ethan was practically eating , as a meal now.
Chloe was suspicious, but she feigned innocence and asked, “Doctor Yan, Young Master Lu has only suffered a bullet wou
nd, so why does he need to take so much medication everyday and go through so much treatment??”
Doctor Yan threw her a glance, “Are you the doctor or am I the doctor?? You know better than me??”
His nasty tone made Chloe go pale with anger and she decided to shut up. To her, this stupid old man was just the Lus’ family doctor, and she was annoyed at his arrogance.
Ethan just bent down and took the medicine. After saving Emily, the virus took effect and in the fierce battle where they had surrounded the last of the enemy troops, he got shot by the enemy.
This shot and the virus flowing within Ethan made him bleed nonstop and he nearly died on Mount Fujin.
But for some reason, Ethan had managed to hang on, and was able to hold onto his last breath.
After secretly coming back to China, Doctor Yan checked Ethan carefully and finally discovered the needle that was peeking out from Ethan’s chest.
Doctor Yan was surprised – he remembered this needle. Ethan had come looking for him and said that Emily had inserted this needle. Back then Doctor Yan had even praised Emily for knowing such an ancient acupuncture technique like Qi Locking Needle despite her young age. But now he knew that what Emily had used was not the Qi Locking Needle, but Heartbeat Needle. This technique could save the last bit of Qi of a person when he was on the brink of death, and could increase his chances of survival.
Normally this needle could only stay inside the body for a month, but this needle had stayed inside Ethan for so long, so it was clear that Emily was very highly skilled…
But Ethan refused to let him look for Emily.
Ethan also didn’t allow anybody to talk about how he had missed his chance to inject himself with the vaccine in time in order to save her, and even Emily herself didn’t know who had used everything within his means to save her that day, disregarding even his own life!
After Ethan had finished taking all the medicine, Doctor Yan sighed and tried to persuade him again, “Since she’s so highly skilled, if you ask her to come, perhaps…”
Perhaps Ethan had a chance to live.
Ethan pursed his lips and glanced at the doctor. “Do you know how old she is?? Don’t you know my situation now??”
Ethan’s eyes fell, “There are so many others who are sad, so there’s no point in adding to the number.”
It was very clear what was going through his mind. He didn’t think that Emily could find a cure for the K virus, and anyone who went close to him was at risk of being infected. He was afraid that Emily would be infected by him.
Every patient infected with the K virus would die within a month, and the Lus had tried everything they could to keep him alive for as long as possible. But nothing worked, so he could die anytime and he didn’t want other people to have to watch him die like this.
Especially the woman he loved so deeply…
Yes, he loved her deeply.
He was someone who would give up others for what he wanted, and this was the first time he had decided to give up what he had quietly.
As long as she was disappointed in him, then she wouldn’t be too sad when he died… He was so noble… He never knew that one day he would do something like this for a person.
**Emily Petrov.
I** really likes you. Really.
Emily had reached Lu Manor.
Ethan wasn’t in hospital because apparently his injuries weren’t serious and he was resting at home.
Her head felt heavy as she made her way to the house. It had started raining and she was running a slight fever.
The dark clouds had brought along the chill of early autumn, and the cold chilled even her bones.
Emily had a large white doctor’s coat on, which made her look even frailer. Under the dark sky, her face was all pale as she stood outside the main door wearing a pair of shoes that obviously didn’t fit her.
Oddly enough, Lu Manor, a place that was usually bustling with activity, was now fairly quiet and there was a weird air around the place.
The guards wanted to stop Emily when they saw her.
Emily showed them the ring on her thumb, “Don’t bother letting anyone know, I’ll go in myself.”
Upon seeing the thumb ring that signified her status as Young Mistress, the guards didn’t block her way. All the servants she saw along the way knew who she was and bowed with strange looks on their faces. Emily felt that something wasn’t quite right, but she finally reached Ethan’s room after ten minutes.
Neither Robert nor Samantha were around, and there were significantly fewer servants around. Any servants left were generally older and held higher positions.
Has something happened to the Lus??
In her previous life, Ethan had been bedridden for a few months, but was it really just a small illness?? Why did he remain at home instead of being in the hospital??
Ethan – was he still doing ok??
She carried these doubts in her mind as she reached out to knock the door, but she heard a woman’s voice from behind the door.
“Ethan, you’re the best! I love Baermov’s 7th Symphony the most, but heard that there aren’t any surviving copies, so how did you find this?”‘
