…’Huh? What do you mean it’s not always like this?’, asked Ichiro….
…’This will be hard to explain so pay attention’. Hikari took a deep breath then started explaining. ‘So, my eye can enhance my abilities. Whenever I use one of these elements, Fire, Air and Lighting, my eye changes the color of the respective element. By infusing more Energy in my eye, I can power up the element I use. Let me show you an example. Step back a bit’…
Ichiro took a few steps back and watched Hikari carefully. She held her hand up and a small flame appeared in her hand. Her left eye changed colors to orange. A few seconds after, it started glowing and the flame grew instantly.
…’That’s…insane Energy’, said Ichiro….
…Hikari canceled the spell and approached him. ‘Yes, but it hurts a bit when I use it and it drains a lot of Energy, so I have to be careful’…
…’I got a question though, why are you hiding it?’…
…’This thing is a power that someone had roughly two years ago on the first war between mages. It wasn’t as evolved as mine, but yet it had the power to destroy anything, especially when used together with Fire. Only Sensei knows about it for now. Anyway, we need to heal that and actually learn what it can do. I’m sure there’s something to it. And before you say something, if it goes crazy again, I’ll be the one to cut it down’…
Ichiro sighed. He was concerned, yet everything that happened relived him a little. Things happened so fast, but the one thing he was grateful for most was Hikari’s life.
…She came to him and started infusing some weird Energy. ‘Lay down a bit, this should do it. I didn’t tell you, but there is one more type of Energy I can enhance’…
Her left eye started glowing green as she put her hand on Ichiro’s right eye.
…’Hm, this is good. You slashed the skin covering it only. If it were the whole eye, it would take at least half my Energy’…
As the healing process continued, Ichiro felt his eyelids getting heavy and, before he realized it, he fell asleep.
He woke up in a dark room, looking like a cage. He was tied up to a wall with some chains. He tried using a spell, but he couldn’t. ‘I feel like I got zero Energy left. What’s this?’.
…’Hello’. A voice lurking in the shadows talked to him. The voice seemed like one of a small girl….
…’Who are you? Where am I?’, he asked, trying to hide his panic….
…’Your voice is so shaky…it’s actually funny’. She chuckled. ‘As for your wish to know my identity…you’ll have to find out about it yourself, before it’s too late’…
…’Really? What is this to you, a petty riddle? Where am I, anyway?’…
Right as the girl was about to speak, Ichiro woke up. ‘Another dream, huh? I can’t decide if this was a nightmare or not, but it’s certainly something’, he thought.
…’Is everything alright?’…
He almost jumped when he heard the voice.
…’Calm down, it’s me. Had a bad dream?’, Hikari asked….
…’You….it’s… you startled me. Wait, what about practice?!’…
…’Idiot. Your eye barely finished healing. Anyway, get ready for dinner, be there in ten minutes. See ya’…
Before Ichiro could say anything else, Hikari shut the door. He touched his right eye a few times. ‘It’s actually healed’, he mumbled. ‘I owe her one’.
After getting ready and stopped looking like a mess that didn’t sleep for two nights, he went downstairs to the cafeteria.
…’Over here’…
Hikari was waving at him from an empty table. They both took a seat, and none of them seemed to be too hungry.
…’Say…what was up with your dream or whatever…?’, asked Hikari….
As she questioned him, he remembered just how mysterious the being was, and just how connected to her he felt. ‘I guess I’ll be keeping it a secret now, sorry’, he thought.
After a small bit of chatting about his supposed dream, Hikari was left with a very confused face.
…’So, all that fuss was because you dreamt of a ghost?…
Once they finished eating, they had some free time, but both of them decided to go in their rooms for the night. On his way to his room, thinking about his very comfy bed, he bumped into some guys standing in the middle of the hall.
…’Sorry’, he mumbled….
…’It’s him, right?’, said one of the dudes….
…’Yeah. Say, what’s up with you and…her? Nobody ever even approached her, how come you two are so close all of a sudden? Do you know anything a about this war?’…
The way those two approached him was a bit too aggressive, but he decided to play their game, he wasn’t in a position where he could fight anyone.
…’Look, I just happened to talk to her. It’s not like I could make any other friends anyway. And no, I don’t know anything about the war, or whatever. Mind letting me pass?’…
…’Ugh, man. Just when I thought we were going to end these fights. It’s okay man, you can go, just tell someone, especially Sensei, if you know somethin’ ‘…
Once he arrived in his room, Ichiro tried to recap what happened in that day. It was a lot to process. Hikari told Sensei about his eye and it’s being kept as private information. And that was also the last day he was going to spend his night in a room alone.
…’I can barely keep my eyes open. I’m… going… to-‘…
Right when he was trying to finish his sentence, he fell on the mattress, with another dream waiting for him.
